Delightful romcom
magnoliacream26 May 2023
Please Feel at Ease Mr. Ling stars Zhao Lusi as Gu Anxin, a struggling manga writer trying to make ends meet by working as a delivery service motorcycle driver. Anxin's name means 'feel at ease' in Chinese. While driving on a rainy night, she crashes against Ling Yue (Liu Te), president of e-commerce company New Way, who has just survived a car accident.

At the hospital, Ling Yue tells Anxin he could not remember his name. To avoid alerting the police and incurring more expenses, the cash-strapped Anxin suggests he stay at her house while he recuperates. They develop feelings for each other under this arrangement, with her calling him Xiao Ba.

Eventually, Ling Yue's identity is exposed. Anxin also turns out to be not as lowly as her lifestyle suggests. How they overcome seemingly endless obstacles to their relationship is a delightful journey.

This has trope after trope of cdramas - amnesia, rich man pretending to be poor, poor girl who is more than she lets on, heirs fighting for highest position in the company, couple turning out to have known each other in the past, second female lead thinking she has rights over male lead coz she thinks she has known him longest, etc. But the writing and acting overcome the triteness of a tropey story and these familiar story lines add to the charm of this entertaining drama.

Surprising complexity for a straight forward romance with a happy ending
leahcubed5 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
9/10 is my rating. This is a 2021 Chinese romantic comedy drama with 24, 44-57 minute episodes. Also known under the alternate titles: "Accidentally Found Love", "I Accidentally Picked Up Love", and "You Succeeded in Attracting My Attention"

First I provide a unique synopsis then review.

Synopsis Gu An Xin (Zhao Lu Si) is leading a simple, though impoverished life, as a delivery driver when she accidentally hits Ling Yue (Liu Te) when he stumbles into the road. She does not realize he is crawling out of an accident where rival heirs tried to get rid of the heir apparent. Ling Yue allows An Xin to think she is the primary cause of his injuries in order to use her as cover and her apartment as a hide out while he investigates who is behind the attempt on his life. AnXin also has a secret and is hiding. As they live together and get to know each other it seems fate may have had a hand in things. Can two who seem so opposite actually be each other's ideal?

Review

Overall it is a good, heart warming romance with some surprising plot twists and complexity. There were some minor plot elements that were not neatly resolved. But the main story is interesting and compelling. It ends happy for all but one side couple.

Spoilers* I have to say when the apartment flooded that whole incident was a little unbelievable just because of the amount of water and how easily she cleaned it up. In fact, she was never very upset when he did major damage to her apartment like the kitchen fire and the flooding. All of that would've taken a lot to repair. Also when she listed the expenses related to that it wasn't anything about the water damage that that would've created. It made it a bit silly in those parts that her response did not mirror reality.

This one takes the cake for most surprising plot twist. At this point I've watched over 300 dramas. Because I have watched so many dramas it makes it to where I can predict a lot of the plot twists. So I usually have figured out who is doing what to whom by halfway through. In this one when it turned out it was the little brother behind all of the attempts on main guy I was completely surprised. That level if surprise us rare..

They made such a big deal out of Anxin being kicked out of her family I wanted her to have a big revealmwith her dad. She did not get a chance as he wound up with a brain tumor that led to dementia. That was disappointing. He also did not understand how ,essed up the actions of the current wife were. She denied him his daughter by swapping the paternity test and essentially drove his wife to end herself.

I wish the brother never expressed romantic feelings for her. They had such a cute brother sister relationship before he made it all weird and awkward by telling her he was interested in her romantically. It was ironic to me, because early in the series I kept saying Ling yue was being unreasonable toward Anxin's brother because that was just her brother. Turns out he sensed all along that he had more than brotherly feelings for her. I was glad the two men mostly bridged their differences at the end and became friendly with each other.

Anxin's sister was just straight up cruel to her so I did not feel warm fuzzies when she started being nice. I thought she was horrible to both men too, Ling yue and his little brother. She would work on Anxin and get her doubting herself in the relationship and it would either cause problems or break them up temporarily, and there was no reason for it because he had all the opportunity in the world to get with her previously and didn't.

I did not like how they were willing to forgive the little brother and say he's just young. The fact that he tried multiple times and showed no remorse would be highly indicative of a sociopath.

An Xin's sister was a bit redeemable because at least she showed remorse for her actions at the end although I thought Anxin forgave her way too quickly. The little brother and the mom, on the other hand, never showed remorse so it was wrong for them to forgive them, or seem willing to forgive them when they did not even sorry themselves. They were only sorry that they got caught and so they felt bad for themselves.

Two of my favorite characters were his bodyguard and his doctor best friend and I thought the romance between the two was so cute. When he went into the boxing ring to defend her honor and show his sincerity and took a serious beating for her I thought that was so cool. I really started rooting for them then.

It was complete bonus round that Anxin's manga business took off. It was really cool to see her be successful in her own, right.

#PleaseFeelAtEaseMrLing #Zhao Lu Si #LiuTe.

Pleasantly surprised

A chinese drama between a rich young business man & young hardworking girl. Unfortunately because of business world of course there's lies, deceit & betrayal. Young love that easily influence by rumours, uncertainty & jealousy. Running away thinking problem could be solved seems to be the easiest in some culture.

It's terrible to see a rich pretty girl so desperate to be with someone who doesn't love her & uses all of sorts of tricks under her sleeves to destroy others. Getting rejected continously is next to embarrassing. It's a wonder if some girls have low esteem to marry someone that doesn't love them back & chances are the man will endup having mistresses.

Another guy in love with a girl who so called her big sister & follow her like lap dog.

Then there is another guy who has always been in loved with a girl who he called his little sister, who always attack his little sister boyfriend in pretense of protecting her which in fact he is in love with her all along.

2 loser & both are brother & sister.

The coolest is the boss female loyal bodyguard, who the boss can depend on & .protects him.

Worth watching.

Full cast isn't listed
wrinkle-5235124 October 2022
First I want IMDb to know that the full cast of this show is not listed they do not have Li Yu Jie on the cast and she is one of the supporting characters in this series. On with the review.

I really loved the plot and the plot twist that story conveyed. I also like how all of the support actors and actresses looked like to be villains but later were forgiven or misunderstood. The main villain acted the way he did because he was greedy, young and stupid. In the end there was a happy ending for both the main cast members and a sad ending for two of the supporting cast members. All though I am glad that the two people in question decided to be together even after all of the bad miss deeds that he had done towards his family. All in all I enjoyed the story and would strongly recommend this drama if you enjoy any type of dramas.

Too long
inuyashafanny-3795616 October 2021
It could've been way shorter, the story kept unnecessarily extending, after a while it was exhausting to watch, like boring couples and weak characters personalities.

I liked the first episodes until midway I skipped some parts.

Messy and at times cringey
Makulit10 September 2023
I read the synopsis and was immediately interested in watching this series. After just finishing Hidden Love, I wanted to watch more of Zhao Lusi's work.

Unfortunately, this series pales in comparison to the beautiful, well-written and sweet love story that Hidden Love portrayed.

This drama has so many side characters and side love stories that are just over the top. If they had focused more on the relationship between the Mr. Ling and Anxin then it would have been better. Their pasts and how the met, and how they eventually fall in love are great parts of the story with a little bit of mystery.

It gets really messy when they have 3 guys vying for the female , 2 brothers after the same girl, plus her own adoptive brother. That's just gross.

The main male lead's elder brother is so obnoxious and full of himself to the point that he's very unlikeable. You can't even admire as a villian. He comes off as loud and stupid.

Then there's this endless pining that it makes these characters look so pathetic. Seriously, you think a guy had feelings for you because he kissed you on the cheek in high school, so you throw away your dignity to keep chasing after him even if he has rejected you multiple times?

Some of the characters are really weak.

The only thing that saves this drama is the chemistry between Zhao Lusi and Liu Te. Not to mention how good looking they both are. Liu Te fits the role of the CEO very well and can rock a suit any time.

I finished watching this drama just because I want to know how it ends and fast forwarded the scenes of the weak side characters. They aren't that interesting and doesn't really add anything to the story except lengthen it.

I guess it's something to watch when you're bored.
