Brilliant interpretation

I loved the book. Hated the film. Loved this series, although some changes were made they added to the story. I really do hope we get a follow up series, but if not it still ended with enough clues as to what happens. Loved all the characters. Theo...what a performance...... he must have been covered in bruises. What a gorgeous nude he is too. Wowszer.

I want more. PLEASE !

Heart jerking suspense

The show is excellent. It makes you think you know the ride, but changes directions and then comes back around to be better than you first thought it could be.

All the while you feel like you don't even know where you are...kind of like a time traveler.

I hope the show goes well and for many seasons to come. Sad ti see this season only has 6 episodes.

Superb adaptation from the book

This series is excellent! The acting is top notch. It is faithful to the book which provides so much more nuance, sensitivity, and depth than the movie version. I really hope it gets picked up. Boo HBO!

Great finale

It was the perfect finale, with enough glimpses into the future and ending with the wedding. So even if it doesn't get a second season (which I really hope it does), it still feels like a complete series. Well-done to the team, what a refreshing change this series was.

Poor Theo James!

Wow. What a fantastic season finale!!!! But man, what Henry went through, geez. At one point I was just feeling so bad for him. Then of course I reminded myself it's not real, only to feel just as bad for Theo James! What a performance! Every episode has been absolute perfection. Rose Leslie and Theo James are amazing!! I cant imagine anyone else as Henry and Clair. The novel is one of my top ten of all time and this series has more than done it justice. Thanks to everyone who brought it to life for us. Here's to season 2!

Omg Better than the movie!

When I first heard about the series being made, I was like but the movie was fantastic this isn't needed. Boy was I mistaken.

I rewatched the movie before watching the series and again before the last 2 episodes of season 1, I love the movie but the series is even better.

I still haven't read the book after all these years, it is my next book to read or listen to. I'm looking forward to it.

The series is fantastic it's definitely something I'll rewatch multiple times.

My new rewatch list are: Lois and Clark, Buffy, Angel, Dawsons Creek, Dark Angel, Charmed (1998), Felicity, Roswell (1999), Smallville, Veronica Mars, Doctor Who, ER, Greys Anatomy, Reign, Motherland: Forte Salem, Prison Break, Stranger Things, The Wheel of Time, The Witcher, A Discovery of Witches, The Time Traveler's Wife.

Better Episode But Meaningless Finale

First few things to note: I have not read the book but I loved the film adaption and this is gonna be a rant. Also, there might be mild spoilers for the movie too.

As a standalone episode, does it get better? Yes, from episode 4 onward it does get better. Is there any point to watching this, NO. Here is the reason why: Triple the movie length, half the story covered. Not even covered better or a better and truer adaption of the book based on my understanding. It is unnecessarily complicated and the characters, I just don't feel anything for them especially with that awful cheap makeup. Maybe I am just comparing too much with the movie but I simply hate the entire cast and crew because they ruined a movie I liked a lot.

My biggest gripe: Why couldn't they do 10 episodes and finish the entire story?

Terribly Rushed Ending

Clearly trying to set the stage for future seasons. I thought this was a mini-series. No explanation of his death or how he lost his feet. There's the slightest hint of their daughter, but not outright. 80% of the people watching this show already know how it's going to end. I feel like we didn't need future seasons, a mini-series with an actual ending would've have been fine.

More bad changes

The first 4 episodes expanded on scenes in the book or added new things that were interesting and touching. In this episode, they shorten dramatic moments from the book and make them worse. Robbing them of dramatic tension and cleverness.

A shame this was cancelled

It's a real shame this was cancelled.

Having read the book I think this was a much better adaptation than the film and would really like to have seen the rest of the story play out.

Little Alba and the possibilities with her character plus the possibility of a sequel to the original book could have kept these going for many seasons.

Great acting & writing, what's not to like?

With some of the rubbish that keeps being renewed it really makes you wonder who is making these decisions to cancel good shows & how they ever got to their positions of power!

It's not too late for them to change their minds & renew!
