It's sad it's on Apple TV
chris_rowe-881-1688203 October 2021
Firstly let me say all you people moaning it aired in the wrong month, that happens to a lot of series as it's just the way of the run times. Secondly calling it filler and cheesy, I just want to say sorry for whatever made you such miserable people.

This was brilliant, shame it won't be seen by more people, I'm unsure if it's made by English or American people but it nailed the English feeling of a cheesy heartwarming comedy, obviously inspired by love actually, it was an absolute blast.

I love the heart of this show, the characters and the messages it sends, imagine watching 30 minutes of heartwarming comedy and coming online to give it 1/10! I'd hate to be that person.

Christmas Shenanigans
ianmorley-804117 January 2022
I love it when a television show can come to a complete stop to make room for some completely unrelated material to the plot, while building upon the characters in a way that does not feel like filler at all, just to celebrate Christmas cheer and go on their many adventures.

The episode we all needed right now!!
holly-4982924 August 2021
I will watch this episode a million times over... and every time I need cheering up forever more!

This episode was everything I didn't know I needed from Christmas in July! So much feel good content, and so great to see a little more of the players we don't see much of!

Truly a gift <3.

A Heartwarming and Fun Xmas Special
fvgfrn13 August 2021
While I'm not fond of Xmas specials that are released in the summer, this is one of the best episodes of the entire series. This is a must watch episode for everyone.

An episode away from football, everyone freaks out.
kinkyswarley16 August 2021
I found this episode really wholesome and probably one of the best Christmas themed tv episode's I've ever seen. Ignore the negative reviews, sit back and relax. It's a good one.

Christmas Can Wait
avrtovec13 August 2021
This episode is more of a celebration of the characters and relationships in the series, rather than a deepening of them. While it has all the wit, warmth and cultural references of the other episodes, it's very different from the rest of the series.

So, if you're the kind of person who prefers to see their Christmas specials in December, you could hold off on this one and not miss any crucial developments. That's what I would have done, if I'd known. It was delightful, though.

First season was excellent but this one .......
gorille-9252313 August 2021
I watch this show for the football aspect and the Season 1 was fantastic. The second one start to be so political and they even make christmas that way in this episode. The only reason i continued to watch this show is because of those two actor Brett Goldstein and Jason Sudeikis. PS- You can downvote my review how you want but this show is starting to be dry, I make a vailid criticism about the soccer aspect.

What is the point?

Warning: Spoilers
I really enjoyed season 1 and have been looking forward to season 2. I have to say I don't understand where they are going - and I think the problem is that the writers don't either. Every episode of season 2 (so far) has felt like some sort of terrible fan-fiction and this (even more random) episode was no exception.

Is the team trying to get promoted back to the premiere league? Do they stand a chance after all of the ties? Has this even been discussed? And what about the mascot dog they killed? Had we ever seen him before? Will they get a replacement? Other than Jamie trying to find a place back at Richmond, do any of the characters have something they are struggling with? Even the protest against the sponsor doesn't seem to be having any fallout. Roy is gruff and profane as a commentator and I guess that seems to be working for him - without any push-back from the network? They've made Nathan into a confident coach - and now he's a bully to the new kit man? And back to this episode specifically, Ted has his first interaction with his son (that we've seen) since the divorce and he spends 2 minutes on a video call that ends abruptly and he's just fine to spend the rest of the day with Rebecca? No call back to follow-up? And that blatant rip-off of the card scene from Love Actually? Was it supposed to be an homage? Does Phoebe have an unrequited crush on the boy at school? And in light of how bad her breath was, was the gift really that mean?

I could go on, but it would be just more disappointment and confusion with a show that has completely lost its way.

This show is not about football
thecasualty14 August 2021
I am enjoying all the cry babies writing reviews cause they simply don't understand that Ted Lasso is and never was about soccer/football. Ted said it himself in season one he only cares about making the team the best they can be on and OFF the field. This show has always been about character development.

This was a great developmental episode for Ted himself. It shows all the players moving forward as humans. Including Rebecca, but Ted is stagnant in his own issues.

Get a grip, turn on ESPN if you thought this show was about kicking a ball around a field.

Warning: Spoilers
It absolutely boggles the mind that they released this in the middle of August but I am glad they did, what an absolutely amazing episode, possibly my favourite so far. I wish you all a very merry Christmas (five and a half months in advance)!

Christmas

Love this show. One of the best shows at the moment. When I saw this was a Christmas episode I thought oh no. But what an episode. The show keeps getting better. All about the people. Especially like Roy Kent.

Film makers - this is how you put together a Christmas story
i_kiss_football095 September 2021
We've been crying out for years for a decent Christmas movie since Elf (I don't like the movie but it's popular amongst the people).

The writers have put together a beautiful half hour story what Christmas is all about. What we've gone through the last 18/19 months is a reminder how important it is we value our family and friends.

Love this programme and for the ones that gave it a bad reviews - you'll be visited by the 3 ghosts!

Worst of the worst
connor_haley18 August 2021
Sad to see such a good tv series go to wait with this season having no direction what so ever, the writers have clearly struggled to come up with ideas and have pushed the eps out due to Covid. It honestly seems pointless at this point to watch... This episode would have been GREAT Christmas time but they decided to bring it out in August? Bit of a head scratcher.

A misstep in an already wandering season
systemlayers14 August 2021
Ted Lasso worked best last year by the fun interplay between Lasso's good nature fish out of water story and the selfish behavior of those around him.

However season 2 is starting to feel like it's venturing towards losing that core idea and just delivering 'feel good' without conflict. The problem is that without an arc it all feels rather hollow and Carol of the Bells is a prime example.

Already at several points in the season the show has had opportunities to extend a good guy in a bad world idea, but end up resolving everything by episode end. Eg. The DubaiAir incident. Are we returning to that? Is the money situation ever going to be an issue? It's doubtful.

There's just no drive or core heart to this season like there was last. I hope I'm wrong, but I think this episode is going to really stick out on re-watch in the context of the wider season.
