London, Jan 26 – The death of Johnny Storm, ‘The Human Torch’, has made The Fantastic Four, the Marvel superhero team, a trio.
In the newest issue No. 587, Storm’s life was taken amid a massive battle, reports the Telegraph.
Joe Quesada, Marvel’s chief creative officer, recognized that death, while potent, is not necessarily lasting and that the death of a character in comics has turned out “to be very clichi” in plot.

Gloucester - The night Sebastian Junger arrived in town, it was a rather mild and cloudless day. There would be need to use the phrase “The Perfect Storm” to hype the writer’s talk and signing at Raleigh’s Quail Ridge Books. It was The Perfect Mild.
This appears to be a rarity in today’s journalism. Anything that happens now gets blamed on “A Perfect Storm” of calamities after Junger’s book about the doomed fishermen. Wall Street meltdown, Bp well disaster and McRib are all given The Perfect Storm treatment. Sadly enough, he does not get a nickel every time it’s said on TV.
This appearance didn’t include tales of the people who put seafood on your table or George Clooney’s pranks. Junger spoke of the men who fight for America in Afghanistan. The Second Platoon, B Company, 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment of the...

London -- Movie promotion and trade body European Film Promotion (EFP) is backing the promotional campaigns of a dozen European films at the 13th Shanghai International Film Festival (June 12-20).
Six sales agents and three production companies will be receiving film sales support to push European movies to mainland China's cinemas.
The Shanghai event is one of three Asian industry shindigs the Efp offers support to alongside Filmart in Hong Kong and the Asian Film Market in Pusan, Korea.
Germany's Aktis Film International and the Match Factory, Italy's Intramovies and France's Wide Management are among the sales banners garnering support.
Separately, this year's Shanghai festival will play host to a Nordic Family Film showcase. The showcase is part of the special "Global Village" section of the Shanghai International Film Festival, dedicated to the ongoing Shanghai Expo.
The showcase will open Monday June 14 with a screening of the Finnish animation film...

Toronto -- The Berlin award-winning teen dramedy "My Suicide" from U.S. director David Lee Miller is to unspool at the upcoming Sprockets Toronto International Film Festival For Children, organizers said Tuesday.
The Gabriel Sunday-starring film about a high school teen making a video project about his own suicide recently won the best feature film prize in Berlin's youth film section Generation 14plus (Hr, Feb. 13).
Sprockets also booked Neil Diamond's "Reel Injun," a Canadian documentary about inaccurate portrayals of native peoples in Hollywood films.
But elsewhere, there's an international flavor to Sprockets' 13th edition, with 27 features and 41 shorts from 23 countries and in 20 languages on offer.
As in past years, the Toronto event aligned with the Toronto International Film Festival will look to widen young film tastes beyond Pixar and Disney by featuring mostly European films in its features sidebar, including Norwegian director Asleik Engmark's "Twigson," "The Indian" from Dutch director Ineke Houtman,...

It’s a busy week for Sony fans. So let’s not waste any time.
Uncharted 2 fans will be excited to see the recently announced “Hero Pack” add-on is now available. Play as Evil Cole from inFamous or a Helghan soldier from Killzone 2, among several others, as you complete in the online co-op or competitive modes. The price is a little steep for what you’re getting but this will certainly be a worthwhile purchase for fans of Sony’s other franchises.
Now that you’ve purchased your new costume load-outs, make sure to encourage your friends to download the Uncharted 2 single player demo – so they can experience first hand the most critically acclaimed title of the year. There’s no doubt they’ll want to pick up a copy afterwards – which gives you a few more people to kick around in your new Chimera threads.

Nintendo announced its Winter 2010 release lineups today for the Wii and DS, and the list predictably confirmed dates for games like "No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle" and "Mega Man 10," but it also attached dates to "WarioWare D.I.Y." games for both systems. Check out the complete rundown, which includes both "Alice and Wonderland" and "Zombie Panic in Wonderland" titles, after the jump.
The DS "WarioWare D.I.Y." and Wii "WarioWare D.I.Y. Showcase" games will work in tandem, allowing players to create their own "WarioWare" games and then upload them for play on the Wii, which should be a fascinating process to watch once they both get demo'd.
As far as third-party developers go, Ubisoft looks to be hitting the ground running on the Wii in 2010, with "No More Heroes 2" and "Red Steel 2" both hitting in Q1. That's in addition to two other games -- "Sleepover Party" and "Racquet Sports.

Although the Sundance Film Festival might have tried to wring some extra sunshine from its selections last year, the 2010 lineup looks to be back to its typical mirthless self. One could say it has gone from "You gotta give 'em hope" to "You gotta give 'em mope."
"That's our filmmakers," festival director John Cooper said with an amused mix of pride and resignation. "There's some lightness in here somewhere."
Yes, it's wedged back behind the assassinations, political corruption, war carnage, crumbling educational system and Khmer Rouge revelations. The fest, which runs Jan. 21-31 in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden and Sundance, Utah, might start to feel like 11 Days of Glummer.
But perhaps that's to be expected. The implosion of the independent distribution system amid the ever-present threats of a maimed economy and two wars has provided festival organizers and filmmakers an opportunity to cut loose and follow their probing passions,...
