Was originally shot & made in 2016, Ethan Trinh was 17 years old during his first time acting debut. Trinh never acted for film before prior to 'Mason McCormick'.
Filmmaker, Ethan Trinh hated this first film of his, he only brought back to life to be apart of his filmography. Trinh claimed it was filled with cringe and he done it for a learning experience.
This was mainly an experimental short film. Ethan Trinh didn't have no script or plan, he essentially played along with the idea. Trinh wasn't even sure that he was even improvising at the time.
According to the short film's commentary, Ethan Trinh got inspired to name his character and title of his film "Mason McCormick" by two movies. Trinh was a huge fan of Richard Linklater's Boyhood which released in 2014. He was also a fan of the original & remake of Footloose. The aspiring filmmaker then mixed those two and two together and became a genius idea.
This is Ethan Trinh's directorial debut.
