Everything I dislike about Lower Decks, kind of
kewlconner1 May 2024
It starts off with 20 minutes that I actually thought were very good, and then they dropped the ball hard, because this is a show where nothing sincere ever happens--okay, that's not quite fair. I can see why others would disagree, and I am happy for them that they do, but personally I just found that the character was one I would have preferred actually developed, instead of it just being the writers doing an "Aha, we got you!" joke. Yeah.

Anyway, I have lots of characters left to fill. So, yeah, anyway, pretty much, yeah, definitely, probably, most likely, have to disagree, yeah, no way, bye.

Love it or hate it

After last week's great episode that definitely had a ton of fan service in it, this is a much more risky and different kind of episode, with a lot less focus on the main characters and more on a side character.

I personally loved it. I thought the story itself was strong and I like shows taking these kind of risks, but I can definitely see it's one you either love or completely hate. There were some great jokes in It, and for me it was actually one of the more funny episodes. Not all jokes in LD land with me but this did.

Extra points for the animation which seems to be getting better and better. The ships and environments look amazing.

What an episode!

The best episode so far. You get caught completely off guard at the start of the show, opening with "previously on...". Peanut Hamper carries the show and is a hilariously foul mouthed character with no moral inclination whatsoever. The setting and the situations in this story are preposterous but yet, right on the money and deeply funny. It's the Falcon people of the Flash Gordon movie in an Avatar story, the only thing missing is the music by Queen. I don't want to spoil but the animation, the lines and jokes are outstanding. The episode is off beat and not typical for the series but man, did I laugh.
