Storyline
Did you know
- TriviaUpon discovering that Boimler's holodeck program features time travel as a plot element, Mariner states that she hopes the story line doesn't involve going back in time and assassinating former US President Kennedy. A story line involving the crew of the original Enterprise traveling back to the 1960s and being forced to assassinate President Kennedy had been repeatedly floated by series creator Gene Roddenberry for various Star Trek revivals. According to some reports, his insistence on such a plot line for a sequel to Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979) was one of the major factors that led to his removal from that project.
- GoofsThe main systems display on the USS Wayfarer, a Sovereign-class ship (similar to the Enterprise from the last 3 TNG films), shows a Luna-class ship layout. The producers admitted on Twitter that assets from the Luna-class USS Titan, which appeared in season 1 and 2 of Lower Decks, were recycled to save time and budget, including the bridge backgrounds. However, since this is a Holodeck simulation designed by Boimler, it's entirely possible that he chose the Titan's bridge based on his own time spent there. It's also worth noting that starship bridges are modular, so they can easily be swapped out with other configurations.

Lower Decks does holodeck right
Just like the original Crisis Point this was another great episode. Lower decks is consistent in pushing out good to amazing episode every week. I find it also highly rewatchable
Packed with great looking action, lots of funny jokes and references and what I love lower decks mostly for: great moments between characters, character growth and reveals in the background that set up new storylines in future episodes and seasons.
Was really great to see a certain guest character which I won't spoil.
This show makes great use of the holodeck which hasn't always been the case in Star Trek (remember Voyager's Fair Haven episodes?).
Lots of fun and I hope they make a Crisis Point III and IV, maybe made by Tendi and Rutherford this time.
