SAVING LIEB HOUSE tells the story of an iconic pop art house built in 1969 by acclaimed architects Robert Venturi and Denise Scott Brown who are widely considered among the most influential designers of the 20th century. The Lieb house was set for destruction by a developer who wanted to clear the land for yet another over-sized McMansion, but made a narrow escape from the proverbial wrecking ball. With sweeping cinematic artistry, the twenty-five minute film captures the house's historic two-day journey by barge from Loveladies, New Jersey, a coastal town, to its new home in Long Island, New York. In this documentary short, the house takes on its own personality and we root for it to be saved. The footage of the Lieb house riding along the East River with Wall Street's heroic skyscrapers looming in the background is one of the most intriguing and touching visions of a house I have ever seen.
