O2 a breath of fresh air in the Kannada film 🍿 industry
textsiddharth19 April 2024
This was my first Kannada movie and "O2" emerges as a breath of fresh air in the realm of cinema, seamlessly blending complex medical science with a narrative that's both engaging and accessible. The film's ability to distill intricate scientific concepts into a format that's not only understandable but also enjoyable is a testament to the creative prowess of directors Prashanth Raj and Raghav Naik. Their vision has undoubtedly propelled the industry forward, setting a new benchmark for intelligent filmmaking.i loved that at its core this is a love story and it's anchored in human relationships and emotions and doesn't over do the medical jargon.

At the heart of "O2" is Ashika, whose portrayal of a doctor is nothing short of remarkable. Her character's journey, driven by personal traumas that have left an indelible mark on her adulthood, is portrayed with a depth and vulnerability that resonate with the audience. Ashika's performance is a powerful reminder of the human spirit's resilience and the relentless pursuit of success against all odds.

The music of "O2" deserves a special mention for its catchy tunes that not only complement the film's tone but also enhance the storytelling. The soundtrack is likely to linger in your mind long after the credits roll, a hallmark of musical excellence.

In conclusion, "O2" is a cinematic gem that not only entertains but also educates, leaving viewers with a newfound appreciation for the art of film and the science it celebrates. It's a must-watch for anyone who values the confluence of artistry and intellect.

Don't even blink!!
shilpapatelav21 April 2024
O2 will capture you for an entire of 2 hours, there is not one scene that is insignificant to the movie. Every scene is equally important and plays as hidden hints to the crazy climax in the end. O2 has broken all rules of commercial cinema. Lot of talented individuals have debuted in the film. Including the amazing directors who have put in extra effort into creating something out of the box! Loved the way the movie seamlessly blends science and love. Two concepts that are important to life, yet polar opposites.

The music adds serves as the cherry on top this this gripping story. Thoroughly enjoyed the sound design, and the songs!

O2 is a must watch especially for the Kannada audience that have been waiting for something new and something refreshingly different!!

Medical thriller woven into a love story
bhavyavreddy20 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
O2 is a different genre of movie, first of its kind in the Kannada movies. Amazingly well written story line with multiple elements. The actors are able to connect with the audience seamlessly with their characters in the movie. The movie takes a complex plot line and does a good job of explaining it. However at its core the movie is about a love story between a doctor (carrying personal trauma from her childhood) and a RJ called Osho who lives in the moment. The attention to detail through the movie is incredible. Props to the prop department (pun intended) and the music was sublime. Ninagagi was bliss. I like that the directors and writes are looking to push the genre on intelligent film making. Overall, an excellent watch & my time well spent!

Best Kannada movie of the year till date
keerthisriranga20 April 2024
This film is an absolute triumph! From the exceptional direction to the outstanding performances, it effortlessly earns a perfect 10 out of 10 rating. Ashika Ranganath and Raghav Nayak shine with their superb acting, and Puneeth delivers a nuanced, humorous performance. What truly sets this movie apart is its compelling story and content - it's the perfect blend of family-friendly entertainment and fresh, intriguing concepts. This film deserves global recognition; it has the potential to resonate with Kannada audiences and viewers worldwide." script. Awesome acting, breathtaking screenplay. Fantastic movie, don't miss and kindly promote it, watch it in theatre and spread the word. It deserves love from every audience. We need new talent to explore the art and this definitely. Every content is filled with logic and you will never know when you are hit with the climax. It takes a team of technicians to make this magical seat throbbing adventure. Editing is amazing and you will never feel laid back throughout the entire journey. Music is so lively, fresh breath like an 02 amongst the noisy music pollution. Overall a golden feather to the Kannada film industry.

A romantic medical thriller!
dishareddyin21 April 2024
O2 left the audience with too much to think about, cleverly merging concepts of science and love. They managed to convey to the audience that love is the real oxygen we require to live. It was a film filled with content, that grips the viewer not letting them go until the very last second. O2 if I may say was disturbing in the best ways.

The highlight of the film was definitely the story, which revolves around the character of dr. Shraddha played brilliantly by Ashima Ranganath. Shraddha refuses to accept the concept of death, and seeks to find a way to revive people after their death. The story encircle her journey in accepting death as a part of life, which is portrayed through cultural metaphors of shiva the god of destruction and verses performed through yakshagana. I thoroughly enjoyed the various hidden metaphors in the film.

Overall I believe o2 is a film that has broken the rules of the commercialised Kannada industry, providing a fresh, new and well though perspective!

O2 movie is worth watching in theatre
emmarrsunil20 April 2024
"O2" emerges as a breath of fresh air in the Kannada film industry, blending medical science with spiritual elements. Ashika Ranganath and Raghav Nayak delivers a stellar performance, portraying a doctor's quest to revive the dead with a groundbreaking drug. The film's unique premise and emotional depth, endorsed by the late Puneeth Rajkumar's production house, make it a must-watch. Despite minor flaws, "O2" is a commendable experiment that keeps the audience engaged and offers a heartfelt cinematic experience. Brilliance of director is clearly visible. Over all I will rate O2 movie as 10 on 10.

Genre bending screenplay
lahadndiaye-8753525 April 2024
When you mix two genres of love and thriller, it usually ends up into a clumsy disaster. That's what I expected when I watched the trailer but I was wrong. Expert navigation of screenplay and execution has pulled it out in an outstanding way. I remember Tamil director Mani Ratnam's movies like Bombay, where he has actually told a love story in a thrilling environment. But for a debutant director duo to achieve the same is a pleasant surprise. Hats off to the entire team!! The unexpected climax is one the finest ever in Indian cinema history. It takes guts to do an open-ended finish ... especially for new comers..and in Kanada cinema!

Breathtaking background score & captivating screenplay
haroldsimmons-2616125 April 2024
The movie was a brilliant masterpiece crafted by the dynamic duo of directors, Prashanth and Raghav. From the breathtaking background score to the captivating screenplay, every aspect of the film was truly impressive. What struck me the most was how they managed to simplify the complexities of a science-themed movie, making it accessible and engaging for all audiences. Hats off to the director duo for their innovative approach and stellar execution. Big shout-out to the producer Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar for supporting such bold and experimental cinema. Only PRK has the ability to take a bold call and choose content over commercial formula movies!

A must watch!!
sowmyaku26 April 2024
The dynamic duo Prashanth & Raghav broke the stereotypical format of a Kannada movie with their debut venture 'O2'. They proved that movies don't have to be just a love story, fight, family drama, action and peppy songs. Movies can also be made with simple story, relatable characters, information, authenticity and passion. In simple words it's like the best meal blended together with right amount of ingredients. ( cinematography, music, gripping story line, amazing star cast, extensive research and appropriate background score.)

For all those who complain of not having quality Kannada movies, here you have a good content oriented movie, 'O2'.

This is your time to embrace the change and promote passionate & visionary movie makers. 'O2' is certainly a new age cinema with a fresh breath of air. A very well executed movie with nuances of thriller, love, science, medical and metaphysical elements.

Walk into a theatre just not for the two hour of entertainment, watch the movie for those who dream, breathe and live for cinema. We as audiences, If we don't make movies like this work, there won't be anyone who dares to experiment and pursue their passion.

Like how they say it takes a village to raise a child, I think it takes an entire country to make one good movie. My appreciation to the entire cast and crew who relentlessly worked to make this a grand success! It's impressive to know how diligently the directors have shown their brilliance (no where it's seen as a work of first timer).

Raghav, You have donned two perfect hats as an actor and as a director! You are so natural as a RJ and sound awesome!

Ashika, This movie is truly a game changer and you are perfect in your doctor's character. Every emotion is portrayed so well- sadness, grief, perseverance, vulnerability, trauma and subtle happiness!

There are other actors who were truly amazing. All in all it's a great movie and some of the flaws can be overlooked as they weren't glaring for a first timer show.

For all our 'Appu' fans, this movie will be super special as it was his last approved project. It's sad Appu isn't amongst us to witness his dream moment, but, I think the team has done complete justice putting life into the movie!

Kudos to Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar for her bold decision in supporting an experimental cinema like 'O2' and making all of us proud! Now we have something to brag about!

Team 'O2', you have hit the right chord by touching hearts of all Kannadigas whose choices have changed in the recent times. The matured, globetrotter, world cinema lovers will certainly like an innovative movie like this.

You have certainly set the bars high for your next project!

One of the Top 10 kanada movies
mindzop24 April 2024
Why am I saying this is one of the top ten kannada movies ? Simply because its pure hard work and talent that makes this shine.

Positives : The technical work is seen in every department, be it Cinematography, Production design, Music and sound, Casting, etc. To make KGF and Kantara it takes big names and deep pockets, but to make a Garuda Gamana, U-turn or O2, it takes sheer brilliance beyond budget and big names. There are movies that kannada cinema needs to be out more often. Because how many film makers have the budget of a KGF ? But everybody can and should work hard to polish their respect for screenplay and technicalities of film making. O2 is a spark for upcoming film makers who can dream of telling good stories in an entertaining manner.

Negatives : Could have slowed down the pace a bit in some places.

WOW!

A film filled with lots of love and Life..

So... breaking the bondages of language, I am out with the review of my first Kannada movie...

A top notch simple, smooth and sweet two hour drama dwelling in and out with emotions of love and Medical thriller.

All the actors have done an amazing job. Special mention to Venky (Puneeth) and Osho (Raghav Nayak), both have done brilliant job being debutants.

The directors Raghav and Prashanth have done an amazing job portraying and presenting the cast on the screen. Great script and direction as well.

The story isn't exactly a full fledge medical thriller and comes with an unexpected twist towards the end.

BRILLIANT KANNADA MOVIE!!
raosumana27 April 2024
"O2" A kannada movie that is brilliantly taken.

A hidden gem worth discovering! It's always a delight to stumble upon a movie that surprises and engages you, especially when it's not heavily advertised or commercialized. And how wonderful that I got to experience it with a group of enthusiastic senior ladies all of whom were 70+ years!

The movie's authenticity had a positive impact on us, it seems like it's not just a film, but a profound experience.

It's fantastic when a movie can leave you with valuable lessons and a renewed sense of positivity and purpose.

Meeting the hero and director was the cherry on top of an already delightful evening! It's heart-warming that they took the time to connect with the audience and speak to each one of us.

We got to meet Raghav Nayak (Hero) & Prashanth Raj (Director) who were extremely humble and took time to speak to everyone in the audience and pose for pictures too!

Needless to say - my bandwagon of the senior ladies were mighty pleased with this interlude. All the way home, they chattered non stop about how much they loved every aspect of the movie!

Thriller, love and suspense, fresh story
shekarkmurthy23 April 2024
Watched today in theatre. Very good script, direction, acting. Songs could have been avoided. It keeps you engaged till the end. Ashika is brilliant throughout the movie. I have never seen her talent in earlier movies. Praveen should have essayed her lover boy role. PRK production always look for fresh talent, fresh ideas and not into too commercial aspects. Ending could have done in different style. Dr Mrityunjay role in the end revealing the suspene was very meek. I thought Dr Mrityunjay is a spoiler for not letting Ashika to succeed in her research. Her assistants alsoessayed memorable role.

O2 - Kannada film industry's contribution to GREAT CONTENT as was Malayalam movie Manjummel Boys! 👏
rmadhukar-7060427 April 2024
Finally watched O2 after curiously waiting since we saw the trailer - and it was a mind blowing goosebumps movie, probably first of its kind in Kannada!

Different bold story and genre is unique and worth embracing and encouraging - just as Appu and Ashwini have done to produce this movie from PRK.

You forget the actors and connect with all the characters completely - especially dr Shradha and Osho played by Ashika and Ragav Highlight of movie and its effect on you is the BGM, pleasing voice in songs and mesmerising music by Vivaan, Ninagagi touches your heart and Nashe seeps into your very soul and stays with you for long!

Location and cinematography is simply stunning and teleports you to the beach, lighthouse and labs.

Cultural context weaved into story is clever and works effortlessly, giving a seamless switch from lab science story in one place to old school meen curry romance in Mangaluru.

Medical & research setting is very detailed and accurate, will inspire young minds with its message of striving to do what's not been done before.

Must watch in theatres movie for its overall experience of all elements of past, present and possible future coming together in right crisp proportion & executed excellently by debut Directors Prashanth Raj and Raghav Nayak! Big applause to O2 team for Kannada content on par with any other industry in India and the world!!!!

02" marks a groundbreaking milestone in Kannada cinema, blending the elements of a medical thriller and a love story seamlessly. This genre fusion, a first in Kannada cinema, is a testament to the industry's willingness to push boundaries. Ashika delivers her best performance yet, captivating audiences with her portrayal of Dr. Shraddha. Her nuanced performance adds depth to the narrative, making her a standout in the film. Credit must also be given to the duo directors whose intelligence and efforts shine through in every frame. Their vision and execution elevate the film, keeping audiences on the edge of their seats while also tugging at their heartstrings. Moreover, the makers of "02" have taken the time to consult with doctors and conduct thorough research, ensuring that the medical aspects of the film are accurate and believable. This dedication to authenticity adds another layer of credibility to the story, immersing audiences even further into the world of the film. It's worth noting that "02" is the last script approved by the legendary Appu sir, adding sentimental value to its release. His legacy lives on through this captivating story, which will surely leave a lasting impact on Kannada cinema. Overall, "02" is a must-watch for its gripping plot, stellar performances, and the innovative approach it brings to Kannada cinema. It sets a new standard for the industry and leaves audiences eagerly awaiting what the future holds.

Soulful storyline
rajveergodara-2247825 April 2024
Brilliant movie with an amazing storyline, soothing music and beautiful acting. Directors Prashanth Raj and Raghav has poured in all their creativity to give this masterpiece. A science fiction which is not very common in Kannada industry is a must watch. Human emotions like love and grief is beautifully weaved into the storyline throughout film, keeping the audience glued with curiosity til the end. Unexpected climax is the highlight which you can look forward to see. It makes you believe soulfull soul connections are for real. Overall an amazing team work love to the entire team and wish you all success. I loved the camerawork and locations. The lighthouse scene with the lanterns was so beautiful. I want to visit that place. Searching on Google for that. Also the yakshagana portion was beautifully shot.

advvidya26 April 2024
Sci fi suspense thriller, amazing direction! Love the acting. Proud to see a kannada movie exploring a different genre. This movie does not revolving around an actor like the usual kannada movies and focus is given to the story. A woman being the lead in a kannada movie is rare which is also one of the best aspect of this movie. Lot of research has been done and can be seen in the direction and story line. Would definitely recommend every thril seeker to watch the movie. Could not guess the ending and left me flabbergasted in the end. Love how much the team has put efforts into the movie. All the very best team O2!
