This is a full hour of an exercise in deceit. Not by Jane Elliott, but by the British team. A voice starts explaining the obvious in the first minutes, but by half time the voice is explaining things that are almost the opposite of what is edited and seems to be going on. What is the reality? I have no idea. One gets to see the regular racist outbursts of "I from a majority point of view know pretty well what you feel as a persecuted minority" going as far as comparing being overweight with skin color to the point of feeling like someone of a darker complexion. But what did really happen? Most of the experiment is edited out to keep just the highlights of some sort of Big Brother UK - the TV show - and nothing else. You get the heated remarks and the off voice. Also there is a very short footage from an Australian show shot in 2002. It is the very end mixed in just as the preliminaries were over. And the exchange between people of the two groups are even more dramatic by cutting in expressions of the individuals not participating in the discussion, but from other moments in time. Everything to lead to the conclusion that racism exists in Britain, but it is an exceptional event of some sort.
