The live aspect of the show added an element of danger, where callers could suddenly reveal their true intent direct to air. One male caller speaks to Barbara Windsor, taking excess interest in which "Carry On" movie she was briefly seen topless. As the call ends and Barbara says goodbye, the caller quickly says: "Love to see your tits, bye then." Barbara seems momentarily taken aback, repeating a goodbye, then saying to herself "Oh... well that's it."
Laurie Pike reveals that a viewer called "Nelly" has faxed in for two weeks running to ask if she's a woman or a man.
At the end of Episode #1.1 (1991), Laurie Pike previewed this episode, but didn't mention Kim Cotton. While this suggests that Cotton was a late booking, it could also have just been due to issues of viewer familiarity with the guest names - Val Lehman was previewed as "Bea Smith", her character from Prisoner (1979).
Despite claiming she wouldn't appear in Neighbours if her life depended on it, 16 years later Val Lehman featured in Episode #1.7745 (2017) and Episode #1.7747 (2017) as the character Joanne Schwarz.
