Conventional, but executed well

There are two major marks against 'Klown Skool.' The first is the lack of originality: strictly speaking, there's nothing here we haven't seen before, and there are no real surprises. The second is the voiceover during the end credits, which I personally find superfluous to the point of irritation, dampening the cheeky, morbid fun of the lingering final shot.

Yet to find a truly original tale is largely a fool's errand. Though every component part here is distinctly familiar, it's all arranged into a short tale that is all its own. And tawdry though it may be in one way or another, I think it's sufficiently entertaining on its own merits.

And that voiceover - well, it's a choice. It's a choice I don't like, but it's what the filmmaker went with. So here we are.

Putting these critiques aside, I admire the concept, and the basic simplicity of the story being told in such an abbreviated runtime. Star Valeska Miller finds herself in a role that demands nothing of her beyond Horror Flick Protagonist - yet I think she performs admirably in the part, and having seen her elsewhere to my delight, I hope still to yet see much more of her in the future. I think each scene is written and executed well, providing the intended entertainment.

And that's a wrap!

Either you like it or you don't; these 6 minutes don't leave much room for more nuanced opinion. For my part, at least - 'Klown Skool' has no pretense about being anything more grand, and I appreciate it for what it is. Take that as you will.
