Frightening & Intense Scenes

- The killer is seen going through a list of items to buy for the shooting. On that list, we see duct tape, a rifle, and several rounds of ammunition, among other things.
- The scenes surrounding the shooting can be very intense and emotional, even though there is no actual violence heard or shown. There's a lot of crying and frantic parents. We see some of the young victims being carried out on stretchers, clearly dead. One of the fathers gets upset and near tears when he recognizes his daughter's feet/shoes sticking out from underneath a white sheet. The mother of the same child is asked to identify the body later, and the mom is seen gasping and crying when she realizes it's her daughter.
- The scenes that follow depict a lot of grief and emotion for the killer's family, as well as the victims' families. It's probably a good idea for parents to watch this with their children and discuss these moments.
- Two funerals are shown: one for a 14-year-old victim of the shooting, and another for the killer himself. Both involve a lot of tears and are very sad in nature.
- One of the young victims is seen recovering in the hospital. She is in bed, but there is no blood or visible scars or anything. It is indicated that she hurt her leg and had to walk on crutches, but that's it.
- The Amish concept of "shunning" (cutting off all communication with baptized members who decided to abandon the Amish community) should be discussed with younger viewers, as it affects certain characters and raises moral issues.
