  • One character says about Harley Quinn. " You wouldn't let a piece of ass like her get away"

Profanity

  • Batman also uses mild language like "Damn it!"
  • One inmate at the beginning says Bruce Wayne will be his b*tch.
  • Penguin has the most swearing alongside random inmate dialogue.
  • In a side mission with Bane, he will use Spanish insults like "basura (trash)" and "payaso (clown)." Not really profanity, though.

  • The Riddler's voice is heard often (although it is optional to complete the mission involving him), and it is always presented over a stuttering tape recording, which can sound creepy for some.
  • The Abromovici Twins can be very frightening to children.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Sex & Nudity

  • In the character bio of Nora Fries, she is frozen and appears to be topless, but her nipples aren't visible.
  • Catwoman also seduces her enemies: one of her counters involves her kissing her enemy before throwing him over, and another involves a takedown where she puts the enemy's head between her knees before cracking his neck.

Violence & Gore

  • In the final mission to stop Protocol 10, Hugo Strange gets stabbed by Ras Al Ghul. The sword is shown going through his stomach with blood emerging and he dies. Soon after, Ras commits suicide by impaling himself. The sword is briefly shown going through his torso.
  • Batman coughs up blood in one scene. This is shown from a first-person perspective.
  • Al ghoul doesn't actually die. He gets impaled, but you can see the body is missing later on, and he'll more then likely be in the lazarus pit.
  • Protocol 10 is the annihilation of all of the criminals in Arkham City.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The optional side mission on Hush may disturb some players. In it, Batman tracks down a serial killer by investigating scenes of head-bandaged murder victims but shockingly finds eerie clues and eyewitness accounts that incriminate his own alter ego, Bruce Wayne, of the killings along the way. In Batman's face-to-face encounter with the culprit, Hush, Hush reveals that he successfully made himself look and sound identical to Bruce Wayne by grafting various places of skin and flesh from his handpicked victims onto and into himself. Though his surgical procedures happened offscreen, the audio journal Batman listens to in Hush's lair and Hush's stitched-up face may unsettle some players, as well as his overall methods of stealing someone else's identity.
  • The optional side mission on Zsasc can be quite intense. In it, Batman answers a series of Zsasc's telephone calls at various locations and must rush to answer the next phone call at another location before a timer runs out or else Zsasc kills his hostages. This can be stressful and Zsasc's voice and appearance are pretty creepy.
  • Jokers death and singing at the end of the game can be sad for some.
  • When playing Catwoman, players have two choices. To save Batman which is the canon choice, or leave Batman. If Batman is left, the game cuts to credits with Oracle ringing to say that her dad, Jim Gordon is dead, and that Joker has won, and he's taking over Wayne manor, and that Batman died. Note, that the game rewinds after the credits, and it's not possible to fully finish the game with this ending, but it's still very dark to know what happens if Batman isn't around.
  • The following characters may scare viewers under ten: Joker: Due to the Titan Explosive in the first game, his face is all rotten and deformed. He eventually dies at the end of the story. Mr. Freeze: His voice is very scary and eerie. Clayface: He's a monster that's completely melted down and has a disturbing face. Two Face: Half of his face and body is severely burnt and disturbing to look at. Ra's Al Ghul: His voice and face are both equally scary. Solomon Grundy: His face and body are disturbing. Killer Croc: His face and voice can be equally scary. Mad Hatter: His voice and demeanor can be a bit scary. Calendar Man: He's never mandatory to encounter, but when Batman does see him, he has an eerie voice, and his head has grotesque imprints of the month abbreviations. Victor Zsasz: The side mission involving Zsasz is optional to complete. He has a very eerie voice that comes over phones, and he often describes how he enjoys cutting himself. When he appears briefly towards the end of the mission, he has tally mark scars all over his torso, arms, and forehead, which's pretty disturbing. Each tally mark represents someone he has killed.
  • The optional mission against Mad Hatter can be pretty disturbing. In it, Batman encounters Mad Hatter at a table occupied by several thugs wearing white rabbit masks (he fights them later). Plus, during the fight, Batman is revealed to be wearing a cowl that resembles a disturbing, screaming rabbit with yellow eyes instead of his usual bat cowl.
  • The boss fight against Mr. Freeze can be rather frightening as you have to continuously move around so you might not always know where he is. You also have to think quickly when it comes to attacking him as there are a limited number of ways to attack him and the same tactic doesn't work twice.
