- Car crazy CLARA ADAMS (24) is mysteriously killed after she leaves the wedding of her loving twin sister KAYLEE by a loathsome, murderous demon, NEVIL KNIGHT. Nevil believes Clara, along with her sister and friends were responsible for the death of his young son in a street race. Stranded alone as a novice ghost in an abandoned auto junkyard, Clara works to develop "ghost skills" to match those of her nemesis and occasional visitor Nevil who she has discovered is planning to kill her sister. She learns levitation and masters the controls of the beat-up and powerless GTO but because the GTO has no battery, she remains stuck and alone except for unwelcome visits from Nevil. Weeks later, perched high on stacks of wrecks, she observes a crew of hazardous waste clean-up workers entering the junkyard. However, constrained by supernatural bonds to the GTO's immediate proximity, she can only observe clean-up work from a distance. Eventually, DECLAN McAVERY (34) an Irish junkyard clean-up specialist finds the old GTO full of dents, but nevertheless sneaks it home to his garage. He repowers it, unaware there is a relieved stowaway, Clara, on board. Clara, using her ghost skills finishes the restoration of the GTO while Declan and his wife, LOREN, are away for a week. When the two return, they discover the wreck completely restored. Loren accuses Declan of spending private nest-egg money to hire others to do the work in their absence. He, of course denies it. Clara adores her new "owners". However, her planned "subtle reveal" to Declan backfires when she is forced to take over the controls of the GTO to chase down a kidnapper and save a young child. Even after extensive counseling Declan never really becomes convinced that the rescue "ghost" event was all in his mind. He arranges to bring Loren up to speed as to what (he thinks) he knows. Clara becomes his invisible, accomplice as Loren, too, finds that there really are such things as ghosts. In due time, Clara's cousins Annie and Brin Fogg are brought into the fold, and it is Brin Fogg who, after Annie is nearly killed by an unknown automotive assailant, first realizes the McAverys must own the very same GTO that Clara once owned. Brin is also the first, outside of Declan and Loren, to realize the GTO is haunted by her dead cousin, Clara. The four join forces to warn Kaylee that her life is in danger, but Kaylee refuses to believe. Clara realizes that involving Declan, Loren, Annie and Brin in her struggle against Nevil has placed everyone she loves in danger. She decides it is best if she leaves them all behind, forever, to meet a far more experienced and superior Nevil, once and for all in a junkyard battle royale on a foggy night. In a supernatural surprise Clara emerges unscathed and a newly anointed protector and "guardian" of her sister, friends and family.
