Hello Tomorrow! Introduces us to a retro-futuristic world without answering any questions about its setting or how it came to be. Buck's delusions about the moon offer affordable living for the common person, but does anyone ever actually get there? Billy Crudup's magnetic charisma draws us in, but will it be for Jack's same empty purposes? Hello Tomorrow! Season 1 Episode 1 introduces us to a retro-futuristic world where robots with pithy catchphrases serve drinks at 50s-style bars, women in vintage dresses and coiffed hairstyles see off their husbands via jetpack, and self-driving vans deliver packages. However, a van runs over a woman and drives away, despite the fact that technology is rapidly replacing people's jobs and ruining their livelihoods. Jack Billings is a salesman who works with his office manager Shirley and salesmen Eddie and Herb to sell timeshares on the moon for the company Brightside. After several successful sales, Jack shares with his team that a letter came from their boss, Brightside founder Stan Jenkins, telling them to pack up and go to Vistaville. Shirl scoffs at Jenkins being out-of-touch, but Jack reminds her that the people there deserve brighter futures. On the way to Vistaville, Shirl and Eddie talk about going up to the moon themselves. On the way, Jack receives a letter from his mother Barbara, who claims to be dying. She has news for Jack: Marie, the mother of his child, has been run over by a delivery van and now remains in a coma. Jack doesn't see why this concerns him, as he hasn't seen Marie or his son in 18 years. He gets to thinking of having a family of his own and gives a speech to potential buyers, asking them why they are waiting to live their best lives. He also shows everyone through a video-call how a man named Buck is loving his life on the moon. Jack runs into Joey at the hospital and recognizes him as his son. After upgrading Joey to a nicer unit for his future life on the moon, Jack delivers Joey a rejected application and a refund. Joey is persistent and Jack tells him it might be time for him to find a new dream. Later, Jack checks in on Buck, who lives in the same building as Jack's mother. Buck advises Jack to pay his respects to Mr. Jenkins, who is a turtle. Hello Tomorrow! Is a retro-futurism show starring Billy Crudup as Jack Billings. It is set in the 1950s, with big body cars, self-popping popcorn, and robots that can dispense beverages and walk dogs. The delightful employees at Brightside Lunar Residences are a welcome addition to Crudup's charm, and Hank Azaria's Eddie swivels between shepherding the two fresh salesmen Herb (Dewshane Williams) and Joey (Nicholas Podany) and his relationship with Shirley Stedman (Hannefah Wood).
