The whole movie makes you think about what's next: now what; may be this or that. It keeps you gllued so much. Superb acting by all actors. Apoorv added a nice freshness in the movie. I would say watch it.

Its a slow burn drama, but worth watching.
ranjith-439016 May 2022
Some people will go to any extent to get what they want, but in the process, they will have to face some unexpected consequences; the plot is based on this. The depressed rhea is willing to go to any extent. Watch the movie to find out what she did to get what she wanted and what she sacrificed in the process. With her outstanding performance, Yuvaradnyee (Rhea) steals the show.

A Fascinating Narrative on Barrenness & Desperation
inmyopinionflicks9 May 2022
Void is a very solid film. Despite a few lulls in the narrative, it was really easy to follow and become invested in the story. The stellar acting, interesting plot, and strong theme really elevated this film beyond your average indie film. The spiritual aspect was exciting and terrifying, and although the plot left a few loose ends, it was compelling enough to eagerly anticipate a potential sequel. Definitely give it a watch if you haven't already.

Vaibhav proved that Emotions don't need any language!
anilgattaninadi8 May 2022
Its a very sensitive movie handled very maturely. Superb direction crisp editing and apt music complements the storyline. Vaibhav has fully exploited the film media with keeping dialogues minimum. Emotions and story cannot be bound by any language he proved. Film connects the audience very well irrespective of their geographic location.

Facts depicted so good!
The movie is shot brilliantly and with such crispness! There's not a single shot that doesn't have a meaning. The topic is very common, but the emotions depicted behind it are so immensely powerful. Every detailing is taken into consideration and that makes the VOID COMPLETE. Great job done team VOID!

Outstanding Storytelling
palwalaahmed7 May 2022
It's an amazing movie providing a lesson for those who seek refuge in everything which should not be adapted. The storyline revolves around the main topic and directs us to understand the importance of living and embracing everything.

The cinematography is done sharply with an act of all characters doing justice with their character with acting.

In short; it's a Gem.

A problem well explained with open end. Making you think differently, keeping you engaged not only while watching the movie but also after. Impressed with story line, the way of depiction, style of direction. A one line review for this mind-blowing movie: "Bollywood content, Hollywood representation"

Void Film On Vimeo On Demand Is Fantastic
Came across this film via an advt in news & watched it. Rare cinema; focused more on expressions, emotions, less dialogue is best. It's not easy to make audience connect with such above mentioned qualities. Hats off to the whole team. Keep going!

vidhitotla-827898 May 2022
Its takes a lot of courage to make such a movie that connects so well with Audience especially the youth! The actors have done a great job and we feel pain they're going through right on the other side of the screen. This is the kind of Cinema we would love to see. Hats off to the Director, Actors and the whole team of Void. Congratulations to you all!

A Clinically Impressive Debut of International Standards
diveshmirchandani10 May 2022
It's one thing to make a film. The entire process has a life of its own. Right from hitting upon the right idea, to finding investors, to assembling the right crew, to scripting, to finding the perfect actors to breathe life into the characters you have envisioned, to getting the required logistics as you get into the process of shooting, to the many unforeseen technical glitches that would inevitably stall the same, to handling multiple egos, to getting the edit right, to finding the right distributors, to marketing your film and finding the right target audience, it's a near-impossible challenge that drains the life out of you. And don't even get me started on the daily moments of self-doubt that every new filmmaker goes through on a daily basis, as they just try to figure out how to simply complete the damn project.

So it's one thing to simply complete the film, it's another to stick to your guns, stay true to your vision and block the naysayers, the far more 'experienced' professionals, who claim that your approach is wrong, who have an opinion on how maybe your framing can 'look' better, maybe your colour palette can do with some more saturation, 'glam it up!' as they say, maybe there can be a little more 'drama' in your scene, maybe you need actors with higher Instagram followers, etc., etc...

All in all, you've got to be incredibly brave or downright delusional to be able to disregard these 'external voices', follow your instinct, and maintain your sanity at the same time. Many have failed...

Filmmaker/Actor Vaibhav Gattani has somehow overcome all these obstacles and delivered a technically impressive debut with his film Void. It's only natural for any new filmmaker to be eager to have his/her voice heard and to impress others, and to be the next Tarantino, Stanley Kubrick or Anurag Kashyap. However, in a bid to impress, how often do we see filmmakers employing the use of fancy camera shots, long takes, weird angles, thereby sacrificing the honesty of their material for the sake of style?

Vaibhav Gattani avoids these pitfalls with remarkable restraint, and yet balances that tight rope beautifully, opting for a minimalistic, but full-of-detail approach. Often, his takes are long, the staging is bare minimum, the actors devoid of any make-up, the colour-palette is desaturated for the most part, the aspect ratio changes at various moments, and don't even get me started about the excellent sound-mixing that provides just the right atmosphere and mood to this slow-burn. But these aren't stylistic choices that are present just for the sake of it. Cynics would argue that the film is trying too hard to be a wannabe international film, using every trick in the book, and I'd agree with them if these stylistic choices would capture my attention more than the narrative. But that's not the case here, as I found the style and narrative complementing one another, thereby elevating my viewing experience of the film. There's always something that's trying to be conveyed through these stylistic choices, and they're to Mr. Gattani's credit that they never once hamper or distract from the story he wants to convey. Make no mistake, this is a technically very impressive film, that's every bit comparable to the kind of films that are showcased at international film festivals like Cannes, or on platforms like Mubi.

Amongst the cast, Yuvradnyee and Vaibhav stand out as the loveless couple. Yuvradnyee provides a very lived-in performance and that makes her moments of vulnerability all the more heartbreaking to watch. Vaibhav brings in the same restrained energy he employs in his direction to his performance. It's a delicate performance that could easily swing into caricature mode, but once again, he balances that rope skillfully. Apoorv Kumar as the next door guitarist Vivek also brings a sense of warmness and sensitivity to his part.

With Void, Vaibhav Gattani has scored a clinically impressive debut. Here's a voice to watch out for in the coming few years.

Waiting and wanting to watch such a movie
gattanigaurav9 May 2022
This is the kind of movie we have been wanting and waiting watch. An awesome job done by the director and all the actors. Everyone connects very well with the audience emotionally. The story is very well adopted from the current major problem of the youth and the extent one can go to fulfill their wishes. Superb work Vaibhav and team Void!

The Writer's Perspective
K_Kalyanaraman15 May 2022
March 12, 2021. Vaibhav and I met at a noisy McDonalds outlet in Bandra, Mumbai and discussed the idea. I wrote a few points on the back of a tissue paper. We parted company and agreed to meet again and discuss the story at greater length. But then we never met in person until May 02, 2022, at the official launch meet at Andheri, Mumbai.

For, the pandemic had other devious plans!

Not to be outdone, Vaibhav signed me on as the writer. We were on the phone several times a week. I recollect writing three drafts, before the story began to unravel. Most of the time, we never discussed the story per se, but went on to talk about "Gone Girl," "Dark Places," and several other movies, and astrology, cult practices and such. We were able to connect well on the concepts of shamanism and cult practices. I virtually went to the jungles of Columbia with my research!

Come hell or high water, Vaibhav was determined to make the film on his terms; and not as dictated by interested patrons, demanding changes in the story.

I am glad that VOID has turned out to be great definitive path for Vaibhav. A lot of hard work, passion, and patience has gone well for the team.

Though conceived in India, VOID will be relevant whether it is viewed in Cabo Verde, Cayman Islands, Colombia or Czechoslovakia.
