'Ennui' was filmed using a borrowed Panasonic DVX-100 and edited on the director's home computer.
The Director used post-production color manipulation on various scenes to create connections between emotional states and relevant color palettes.
The budget consisted of £40 for twenty mini-DV tapes, and £160 for costumes, props and petrol money.
Originally titled 'Transition', the director decided to change the name to 'Ennui' as there was an American production being made at the same time with the title 'Transition'. It was also felt 'Ennui' fit better with the tone of the film.
The vast majority of the cast took part after their full-time jobs, filming scenes between 6pm and 1am.
