• Cara Mason : [as Night Wisp warbles]  I can't understand a thing you're saying. I'm sorry Kahlan's not here to talk to you, but she had to draw the Gars away. So would you please stop... serenading every creature... in the forest?

  [while she pants for breath, the Night Wisp is quiet] 

  Cara Mason : Finally.

• Cara Mason : Well, Wisp, It's just you and me. And we have a long way to go, so...

  [sighs] 

  Cara Mason : What do you wanna talk about?

  [Night Wisp warbles] 

  Cara Mason : Huh? Hmm. This would be so much easier if you used words instead of chirping. I'll bet you wish Kahlan was here instead of me. The truth is you're lucky I'm here. Kahlan couldn't have run all night and got you safely out of Gar territory like I did. I'm faster than she is. I have more endurance. I'm also better in a fight. If it weren't for me, everyone in this quest would be Shadrin food by now.

  [Night Wisp continues warbling] 

  Cara Mason : I'm not boasting. I'm simply...

  [scoffs] 

  Cara Mason : Wait. Did you just say I was boasting?

  [laughs] 

  Cara Mason : I can understand you.

  [bossy voice:] 

  Cara Mason : Say something else.

  [more warbling] 

  Cara Mason : Kahlan is close?

  [looks around] 

  Cara Mason : Where?

  Kahlan Amnell : Yes, but I twisted my ankle.

  [Night Wisp warbles worriedly] 

  Cara Mason : [to the little creature]  Don't worry, she'll live.

  Kahlan Amnell : [smiles]  You understand her.

  Cara Mason : It wasn't that hard, once it started speaking clearly. Here, you take her.

  Kahlan Amnell : Cara... her light is getting weaker. We don't have much time. With my ankle, I won't be able to move fast enough. It's up to you to get her to the birthing ground.
