Star Wars: The Bad Batch Episode 10
This week’s Disney+ blurb offers a promising subject for an episode that mostly lives up to it: “The Bad Batch has their ideology challenged.”
The Clone Wars, The Bad Batch‘s spiritual predecessor, often tried to explore a key element of the Prequel era: there were heroes on both sides of the war. Whether or not that show succeeded isn’t the subject of this review, but The Bad Batch does effectively argue for why the citizens of the Separatist systems are more than their Sidious-adjacent mustache-twirling leaders.
We don’t see humans in the Separatist forces much in general, and the aliens at its head are often portrayed as greedy, corrupt, or bloodthirsty. But it has always been canon that there is a Separatist public somewhere, with average people who have legitimate grievances against the Republic.

This Star Wars: The Batch article contains spoilers.
Back in 2002, it was impossible for fans to predict that Star Wars: Attack of the Clones would set in motion stories that we’d still be revisiting almost 20 years later. Indeed, like The Clone Wars animated series before it, The Bad Batch continues to pick up plot threads from the second prequel, presenting them in new and interesting ways.
For example, the new show explores how the Clone Wars and the rise of the Empire have changed Kamino, home to the cloning facilities where the soldiers of the Bad Batch, Omega, and all the other clones in Star Wars were created. We learn very early on in the premiere episode that the clone army’s victory over the Separatists (and the Jedi Order) may in fact lead to the downfall of the Kaminoans and the clones they created. Imperial leadership, including Admiral Tarkin,...

In “Decommissioned,” the Bad Batch continue performing odd jobs for Cid. This time, they have to travel one of our Star Wars‘ most famous planets to retrieve a tactical droid’s data-filled brain. Along the way, they’re joined by two unexpected rivals, who want the information inside the tactical droid for their own fight against the Empire.
The Bad Batch fight their way through the police droids guarding the facility, passing some Star Wars canon connections along the way. Take a look at all the Star Wars easter eggs and references we found this week:

There was definitely a bit of development within the group this time around as the clones found themselves on the run and needing information after the previous episode when a younger Fennec Shand was hot on their trail. Deciding to head to Ord Mantell to find an informant that the Jedi once dealt with, the group finds Cid, a Trandoshan bar owner and informant that’s voiced by none other than well-known actress Rhea Perlman. The only thing is, Cid doesn’t know anything about the bounty hunter, but she does have a proposition for the group in the form of a

One could say that things are only getting worse for Hunter, Wrecker, Echo, Tech, and Omega, but they weren’t that great to start with since they escaped Saleucami with their skins and not much else, and the same could be said of this episode as well. But the challenge this time around was even harder since instead of rank and file soldiers coming after them, Fennec Shand, bounty hunter, has entered the fray. Despite being younger and not quite as experienced it doesn’t appear that Fennec had much to worry about since she put Wrecker down with a quick move

It feels like a slightly slower progression than some folks might want to see as the Bad Batch moves along, even though the previous episode was over and done with so quickly that many audience members might have felt that the episode had just started. But in this episode, Hunter and his band of misfits quickly realize that their ship took on a little too much damage as they find themselves being kicked out of hyperspace and forced to land on a planet to complete repairs. The downside is that they not only had just one part left for repairs,

Sometimes it seems like every inch of territory in the Star Wars galaxy has been explored. From the fate of the Jedi after Order 66 to every minute detail of the Galactic Civil War, the franchise has always been interested in tracing and expanding its own history.
That tradition continues with the new Disney+ animated series The Bad Batch, which explores the lives of clone troopers in the aftermath of the Clone Wars. This dark period of transition from Republic to Empire was previously chronicled in the now non-canon Legends continuity, but now we have a canon interpretation of it that lines up with The Clone Wars (mostly).
The Bad Batch follows a group of clone outcasts who get a first-hand look at what the Clone Army has become during the rise of the Empire. So far, the show has made three main points about this drastic sea change: the transition...

Netflix has revolutionized the home movie experience for fans of film with its instant streaming technology. Netflix Nuggets is my way of spreading the word about independent, classic and foreign films being made available by Netflix for instant streaming. Important Note: There may be some films that do not become available on the specified dates. This is merely a report of the most accurate release dates I can find, but is not directly confirmed by Netflix themselves.

The film is called Bad Batch, a stoner comedy, and the feature-film debut for Abe Schwartz, and its synopsis reads: One night, an unlikely group of college students (who met on Facebook) eat a full tray of maybe the strongest pot brownies ever. Unexpected shit hits the fan, the stakes climb higher and higher, and each character is sent to a strange, deranged, and intense place.
The film is described as a do-it-yourself, low-budget project, in the same vein as films like Clerks and Paranormal Activity, shot & edited in cinéma vérité style.
The film stars Lionel Sam, Jessica Watkins and Jr Lemon.
It makes its theatrical debut tonight in Los Angeles, at the Downtown Independent, 251 South Main Street, at 7:30Pm. And guess what? Tickets are Free! You just have to register to claim yours, and you can do so Here.

Hi, my name's Abe Schwartz, and this is my first blog post for Huffington Post. I'm a filmmaker, though I'd never been to a film festival before Sundance this past January. I've been watching movies all of my life, working on making my first feature the past 2+ years, and still, I'd never been to a film festival before this January. It was a great experience. There were lots of amazing, technically sound films in contention in Park City, Ut. Many featured stars and higher budgets; some featured unknowns and modest budgets. My first feature film, Bad Batch, was not in contention though I wanted to check out the scene, anyway. I didn't submit to Sundance. Should I have? Maybe. I didn't have the deadline marked on my calender. I was focused on finishing the movie and getting it just right. I...

The cruel irony of do-it-yourself filmmaking is that while it's gotten easier and cheaper to actually make the things, it's gotten harder and more expensive to get them into theaters. As a result, the stigma once associated with releasing a film on the Internet rather than in cinemas is starting to fade away. It's no longer a last resort. In fact, for Abe Schwartz, whose stoner film Bad Batch is being released online today, it was the best option almost from the beginning.
"I think I always knew I was going to take a non-traditional approach," says Schwartz, a 26-year-old Philly native who's making his debut as a writer and director. The film, a low-key, black-and-white comedy about two guys and a girl who have a bad trip from some pot brownies, has an early Kevin Smith or Richard Linklater vibe, and lends itself to the small screen. "These character-driven films,...

Imagine if Ingmar Bergman had directed a stoner comedy written by Richard Linklater, a la Slacker. Now, if you can wrap your head around that notion, you have an idea of what to expect from Bad Batch. In all honesty, I’m not going to sit here and suggest this is a film on the same caliber as any of Bergman’s or Linklater’s films, but considering this is the debut feature film from writer/director/producer Abe Schwartz, made on what can best be described as a modestly micro-budget, Bad Batch is actually an interesting film.
Bad Batch is a story about three strangers who meet on Facebook and decide to get together to enjoy some pot brownies. The film begins with Hannah (played by actress and stand-up comedian Jessica Watkins) scoring some “Purple Erkle” marijuana from her dealer Isaac, played by Abe Schwartz, who also happens to...

During my week long coverage of SXSW 2010, I ran into an indie filmmaker outside the Alamo Drafthouse named Abe Schwartz. After speaking with Abe for a bit, I learned about his groovy sounding film called Bad Batch, which is literally on the cusp of being released upon the world for all to see. Check out the trailer, synopsis, website and poster for Bad Batch and also check back soon for my review of the film.
