The life of rapper Tupac Shakur has come to the big screen before in the Oscar-nominated documentary “Tupac: Resurrection,” but like Biggie Smalls in “Notorious” and N.W.A. in last year’s breakout hit “Straight Outta Compton,” the rapper is finally getting the biopic treatment with the upcoming feature “All Eyez On Me.” A new trailer for the drama hit the web yesterday to mark the 20th anniversary of Tupac’s death, and it features a great ensemble charting the rapper/actor’s rags-to-riches rise and fall.

Barring fleeting cameo roles in both 2009’s Notorious and this year’s excellent Straight Outta Compton, rap legend Tupac Shakur is still to be the center of attention in a feature film.
It’s not for want of trying, either; setting up shop at production company Morgan Creek, a biopic about the late, great artist has flirted with development since 2011, when Antoine Fuqua was attached to direct. But after languishing in pre-production amid a string of musical lawsuits, the director quietly exited the film, and those who were chosen to replace him – John Singleton and later Carl Franklin – quickly followed suit out the revolving door.
However, Morgan Creek’s drama has been handed a lifeline today. According to The Hollywood Reporter, music video and commercial director Benny Boom has opened negotiations to helm the troubled project, and Boom took to Instagram to express his own excitement about “upholding the legacy...

The idea of a Tupac Shakur biopic has been around so long that.s it.s almost the stuff of Hollywood legend. A number of people and lawsuits have been involved in bringing the life of this 1990.s rap superstar to life. And, just when we thought things were going to get off the ground, there.s been yet another change. Musical movie Mama, I Want To Sing is based on the off-Broadway hit play by Vy Higginsen.
The film stars multi-platinum-selling artist Ciara as Amara, a young gospel singer who dreams of pop stardom, naturally. Discovered by agents, Amara is swept away from her tight-knit community for recording sessions and television appearances.
As she pursues her music career, however, Amara’s relationship with her preacher mother (Lynn Whitfield, The Women) is strained, as her mother wants her to stay grounded. Sexting, a seemingly timely romantic comedy about love in the world of high-tech of personal communication devices, is coming to DVD from Screen Media on Aug. 23 for a list price of $24.98.
Jason Lewis touches the magic buttons in Sexting.
Originally entitled Textuality (which we kinda like more), the movie follows the love lives of two attractive twenty-somethings, Breslin (Jason Lewis, Sex and The City) and Simone (Carly Pope, S.W.A.T.: Firefight) as they try to get into a relationship while navigating the modern world of digital dating and all the emailing, Facebooking, roaming charges, Blackberrying and, yes, sexting, that it entails.
Directed by Warren Sonoda (who’s got a handful of comedies to his credit, including 2008’s Coopers’ Christmas) and co-starring Eric McCormack (TV’s Will & Grace), Sexting received a quick theatrical release in Canada last month, but is premiering in the U.S. on DVD.

127 Hours This week's obvious best option is Danny Boyle's 127 Hours, a film I saw twice in theaters and also discussed with Boyle last year (click here for that interview). I can't wait to watch this again in high definition and the better the sound system and larger the TV you have in your home the greater this one will play. Bambi (Diamond Edition) I just gave this one a positive review even though this isn't a Disney classic that's very high on my list (click here for that). And on top of the review, I also have a $10 off coupon for you if you are already planning on buying it. Faster I was not a fan of this film (you can read my review here), but I imagine anyone that has not yet seen it and is interested...

Now this is the type of movies Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson should be consistently doing. I mean, really, damn those kid movies. He doesn’t need a Disney paycheck that bad. Even still, the movie isn’t a full-on actionfest as maybe it was advertised as, but it’s a decent revenge yarn. (Formats: Blu-ray/DVD) Jon says: Rent Donny says: Rent

Tony Yayo says he will be billed as "Tony Yayo" not Marvin Bernard, his government name, when the credits roll on his feature film debut. The most energetic member of the G-Unit will get his shot at the big screen come 2011, when "S.W.A.T.: Fire Fight" hits theaters.
"My part got edited [out]," Yayo laughed about his cameo in 50 Cent's 90-minute film "Before I Self Destruct." "I ain't mad at you, 50. Having a guy like 50 Cent as a friend is a big advantage."
Fif recently put in the call to director Benny Boom, so that his close friend could get a look in the sequel to 2003's "S.W.A.T."
"Shout out to 50, shout out to Benny Boom," Yayo said last week during a visit to the MTV offices.
