The BBC has revealed more details about this year’s Comic Relief telethon, which will be broadcast on 15th March on BBC One.
Comic Relief launched in 1985 with a telethon that has since become embedded in British culture. Known as Red Nose Day, on account of the red noses sold as part of the appeal, over the years this has led to many classic comic moments, from The Young Ones singing Livin’ Doll with Cliff Richard, to Johnny Depp and Sting appearing in The Vicar Of Dibley, to Billy Connolly running naked through Trafalgar Square and Mr Bean infiltrating both Blind Date, and a Torvill and Dean dance routine.
Lenny Henry, who co-founded Comic Relief with Richard Curtis, recently revealed that he will be stepping down as host after this year’s telethon. Henry said of his decision that “when we first started Comic Relief back in 1985, I never dreamed...

Ahead of this month’s Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom, Jason Momoa has cast doubt on his future as the salty superhero.
From his first appearance in 2016’s Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice, Jason Momoa has brought an infectious sense of glee to his take on Arthur Curry, better known by his nom de superhero, Aquaman.
When it comes to his future in the role of the King of Atlantis, however, Momoa sounds rather less upbeat. Speaking to Et Online (via Deadline), the actor has cast doubt on whether he’ll continue playing the title character after the release of Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom, out in cinemas this month.
“If the audience loves it,” Momoa said of that sequel, “then there’s a possibility. But right now, I’m like, ‘It’s not looking too good.'”
Note that this isn’t necessarily because of the quality of the second Aquaman film itself,...

Aquaman star Jason Momoa swaps a trident for silk pyjamas as he joins the list of celebrities reading a CBeebies Bedtime Story.
Jason Momoa is following in the footsteps of Tom Hardy and joins the growing roster of celebrity readers for CBeebies Bedtime Stories. Momoa will be appearing on TV screens across the UK in black silk pyjamas and reading Tiddler by Julia Donaldson to the kiddos – and probably a few parents, too.
“One of my favourite books that I read to my children as they were growing up was The Gruffalo, so I am very happy to read another amazing story by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler for a CBeebies Bedtime Story,” Momoa said of his stint on the popular children’s programme.

Tom Hardy will read Julia Donaldson and Victoria Sandøy’s The Oak Tree on CBeebies Bedtime Story tonight.
When Tom Hardy first joined the CBeebies Bedtime Stories, the internet went into a frenzy. Sure, the kids loved listening to the Venom actor read stories, but I’m willing to bed a lot of adults tuned in too, sans kids. I know I did.
Well, Hardy is back for some more children’s stories. The actor will be gracing our screens tonight, 1st December, and will be reading Julia Donaldson and Victoria Sandøy’s The Oak Tree to celebrate National Tree Week. The story revolves around a tiny acorn’s journey from a tiny seed to a mighty oak over a thousand years as it witnesses Viking invasions, teddy bear picnics and everything in between.
Hardy will also be joined by his adorable French bulldog, Blue. Let’s be honest here,...

Forget the Countdown teapot or the Pointless Trophy. The most coveted prize on UK television has four wheels, an extendable handle and a quiff.
Since October 2019, Richard Osman’s House of Games has occasionally offered a wheelie suitcase among its selection of kitsch branded prizes. For context – whichever celebrity contestant wins that day’s episode has a choice of five rewards decorated with the face of host and creator Richard Osman. The prizes range from the glamorous (a decanter) to the practical (gardening gloves) to the playful (a dartboard) to the esoteric.
The greatest of these, and by far the most popular, is the wheelie suitcase. In the 430 or so episodes since its first appearance in October 2019, the luggage has been chosen by celebrity contestants 60 times out of a possible 86*. In other words, the baggage reclaim at Edinburgh airport around the time of the Fringe Festival is chock-a-block with them.

Loki himself is going to read children of the UK a superhero story just before bedtime.
Tom Hiddleston has signed up to present a CBeebies Bedtime Story, which premieres on BBC pre-school channel CBeebies on June 25. The British actor will read Sue Hendra and Paul Linnet’s Supertato, which tells the story of a superhero potato and a supervillain pea.
Hiddleston opens the story by saying: “Tonight’s bedtime story is all about a supervillain. This guy is really naughty, very cheeky… and bright green. But never fear, because where there’s trouble, a superhero is sure to follow.”
He joins an illustrious group of former CBeebies story readers, including Regé-Jean Page, Tom Hardy, Chris O’Dowd, and Tom Ellis.

As the BBC’s parental-respite service continues its fine tradition of giving mums something pretty to look at, we ask who can follow Captain America
Chris Evans is going to read a CBeebies Bedtime Story soon. Actual Captain America, from all three thousand Captain America films, will sit down and lull the nation’s toddlers to sleep with a sonorous reading of Even Superheroes Have Bad Days by Shelly Becker and Eda Kaban on 10 May.
Admittedly this is probably more interesting to parents than toddlers. My two-year-old, largely speaking, doesn’t care about the box office grosses of the people reading stories to him. He’s over the moon if they happen to be softly spoken and sincere like Nadiya Hussain from the Great British Bake Off, and actively less over the moon when, say, David Hasselhoff ends up bellowing a broken assembly line of words that sound as if...
