Vice Versa is a must watched series!!
intojackrin11 August 2022
As I've read the novel, when I watched the series I am quite overwhelmed how they've managed to tackle the 5 chapters in just one episode but despite that they've elaborate the plot well for episode 1. Still don't get it why others find it hard to understand the plot when they've already told everything in the mock trailer and episode 1. So far, I liked the happenings in the series. I love how they added and changed some scenes from the novel that I think turns out better. It also quite exciting for me because even though I've read the novel, I am still confused what is go to happened next. I also loved how they applied the colors/palette to the series (A LITTLE SPOILER 👀, it has a part to the plot so pay attention to the palettes). Overall, the series is so good and I am looking forward what will happen in the following episodes.

The best series produced by GMMTV
docowangxuehua14 August 2022
The plot of Vice Versa is very fresh. It is a new plot to the bl industry. You may find soul switching boring but here, they do not only switch souls, also travel to the other universe. Parallel universe aside, the story is so beautiful. Believe me. I am so picky with any series or drama. But Vice Versa got me. I have read the novel too. Don't tell any bad about vice versa if you haven't watched a second of it. Just give it a try.

A force to be reckoned with

Warning: Spoilers
Vice Versa is a very interesting series especially to those who are into multi-universe stories and mystery. At first, what got me interested in watching is because of its director and writer, P'X and Jittrain, who, have established great reputation in their respective fields (Theory of Love). P'X is one director I admire and I've been a fan of his directing. For some reason, regardless of the actors, if a show is by P'X, you can count me in. Anyway, Vice Versa surprised me in many ways:

  • Main characters and their chemistry, Jimmy and Sea, both quite new in the biz, has this undeniable rapport and it's as if the characters were made for them (P'X awesome casting!). Watching all aired episodes (1-10), JimmySea's growth in acting can be seen as their characters Puen and Talay deal with the challenges in the parallel universe. Acting alongside veteran guest actors Ohm and Nanon, Jimmy and Sea did not falter at all and in my opinion even surpassed a certain "newbie" level, in short, they exceeded expectations.

  • Plot - this is where viewers get so confused. The story is set in modern time where when you die, you get a second chance but in a parallel universe, in a different person's body. That's the mystery, "how to get back?". To me, it was clearly stated that it IS NOT CLEAR, how things work. So far, the blurry answer to that question is to find your "Portkey" also known as, sort of soulmate in the parallel universe, so you can both return and be back to your real bodies. I only got the gist by watching the series. So I don't know how come other viewers don't get it. To me, it's a matter of taste I guess. Who doesn't love a mystery? But then again, we have OhmNanon fans watching because of Ohm and Nanon being in the first few episodes, who, might not be, fans of this genre because Bad Buddy the series is way different than Vice Versa. I think that is one reason. The audience who watched weren't the target audience. Anyway, that doesn't stop the series from being great.

  • The Morals - What most people don't get - Vice Versa requires of course a mind that is ready to go beyond love life. Life itself is not easy for main characters Talay and Puen. The challenge here is to live the life of the person they're in without knowing if their switch mates Pakorn and Tess would do the same with theirs. Is that hard? YES! It requires a lot of heart to understand this and sorry for being blunt but maybe some viewers are confused by this because they're selfish by default. So more and more kudos to Puen and Talay for accepting the challenge. If you can see, some of their fellow travellers have been in the parallel world longer than they have, what does that tell us? Finding the portkey isn't easy at all. I may say, finding your soulmate is not easy at all. Vice Versa introduces us to different life situations that are hard to face and I see why some don't get it because they themselves are troubled beings or immature or just...slow. Anyway, to me Vice Versa nails all morals, from day 1 it has always been about selflessness. Why not focus on the portkey from day 1? Funny some confused people ask because that's the main focus since day 1, it's just that, you're looking for something that isn't there YET! Get it? You don't find your portkey unless you try to find your soulmate, we are talking about people here, not some treasure hunt with a map. It takes time to know someone well by heart. I'm saying this because Puen didn't tell Talay his name to avoid the usual bias of him being a popular actor in the real universe. So yes, Talay fell for the "Tun" he is with in the parallel universe. Again, Vice Versa tackles life itself, that it's not something to waste and that it is precious.

  • The ensemble - P'X is an expert for an ensemble cast. He never fails to give each character a purpose. I love this about his works (Theory of Love, I'm Tee Me Too). I'm attached to the Tees and the Gangstas because of how P'X handles the whole cast. In Vice Versa, the presence of their friends are well-timed and each scene they come out is significant. And in the later parts, you will even miss Friend Credits, Kita, Fuse, Dol, Jeab and even Pang. They are not over exposed or under exposed. Each character is given time to shine.

So I will end my review here. Vice Versa might receive extreme scores, either 1/10 or 10/10 as it is either Superb to the right audience or confusing to the latter. I'm part of the target audience so it's 10/10 for me. I can't preach to those who refuse to give it a chance but I hope this review makes a lot of viewers understand how one of a kind and what a masterpiece this series is. P'X and Jittirain, I salute you both. JimmySea, I love you both, you deserve all the love. To the cast and crew of Vice Versa, you guys are part of something so special. Congratulations and cheers!

Multiversal perfection
WilaFox2 October 2022
Let me be honest, at first, I started watching this because of Jimmy. I fell for him in Bad buddy and thats the reason why I wanted to see this. In the end, it totally couth me. Jimmy and Sea have perfect chemistry and watchers have no other choice but fall for it. The story was amaizing, even if I was litte bit confused in the first episode. I thought OhmNanon are in the original universe and JimmySea in the different one, but when it was clear to me, I was impatiently waiting for new ep. I would love to see some spin off about Tess and Pakorn living in our world and how did they deal with the multiversal situation, because from the first or second episode we know that there Had been some issue between them before they "died".

Bonus: Beautiful soundtrack. It´s really worth to listen!

So honestly it is pretty difficult to understand at first episode but it's an amazing drama with may emotions mixed inside it I will say it now it does have a happy ending and it is definitely worth whatching, the fact that there is so much chemistry between the actors and that the drama looks like it happend in real life definitely amazed me wichit had more episodes but don't worry there is still more to the story of puen and talay in our skyy 2. It has a very creative story line and amazing acting skills from all the actors who played it the drama definitely and easy 10 out of 10. The concept is nice and simple and also very fresh I love it.

In Love with Lays
michaelb_mannheim7 March 2024
I'm already used to product placement in GMMTV series but this time they exaggerate it. Let's talk about the series, after brushing our teeth with dent toothpaste. The couple was cute, eating KFC in both universes. With the inhaler stick and nivea anti akne the plot idea was quite interesting. Lets drink a 0% sugar ice tea and look at the nice sixpack of Jimmy. The problem of the series, that is as tasty as the two new Lays flavors, is, that if you would cancel all advertisement, it had only 5 episodes, which would be as creamy as the cake snack. But so there are episodes, where they forget the story line by just making an overkill of advertisement. The guys are cute, the story idea quite cool, but I recommend to make a drinking game of it. If you drink every time a shot, if you find a product placement, you will be very drunk after two episodes and will enjoy even more the series. So GMMTV, please don't do this to your characters, it makes a good idea to a big. Sometimes rather awkward commercial.

Drama failed to portray what the poster carried
sreelekhaburla18 June 2023
If there was an award for plagiarizing dialogues and scenes in Thailand it could be awarded to this series. The sheer number of people that appear on screen to just show their support towards the newly launched CP is distracting. Attempting a plot based on a book, that talks of two people falling in love in the alternate universe but carry back their feelings, is commendable yet the execution is terrible. The art, props, styling and make up, editing and mixing team did well but their efforts went in vain due to bad scriptwriting. The camera person should understand that Jimmy, Pepper, Boom, Neo and Aou (character artists) are amateur, lacking the technique to act with their expression thus panning a frame over to their façade for a whole while doesn't emote anything. The viewers may misunderstand that the recording is stuck up. N' Sea, keng maak... (finger hearts)

Lastly I would want to rant about the exploitation of established fame of Nanon and Ohm in this series. In an interview, P'X, the director mentioned that the characters in the alternate universe play a great significance. I hope he compensates them according to the amount of unfair utilization of their name to promote this drama. Their faces were everywhere, poster to the prologues of successive episodes. But where is their story? The director even used a personal picture of OhmNon photographed by P'Aoff on the sets of My Precious, directorial of P'Fon. I wonder if there was anything original.

Sea, you are a natural actor. Well done for your debut drama. I shall look forward for your works.

when the supporting cast has more chemistry than the main couple.
smoothhoney126512 November 2022
I am a bit conflicted as to how to rate this series. Don't get me wrong, I know exactly what I liked and didn't like, how much stars I want to give it, it's just it's so charming, it might let me stray away from my path. I will try to stay on it.

I really liked the initial idea and what they did with it. At times, it could be cheesy, but overall, I am content with the result. There were surprises and twists and turns, funny and heartwarming moments and most important of all, there was romance.

My problem is that the main couple has zero chemistry. They are both lovely, they do their best with the material given to them, but Jimmy (Tan/Puen) is just not a good actor. He is mediocre at best. He is okay in supporting roles, but I don't think he can carry a whole movie/series. The worst was watching him in kissing scenes, those were awful. His partner, on the other hand, Sea (Tess/Talay) is absolutely lovely and a decent actor. He carried most of the movie on his back and ties everything together. I kinda felt bad for him that he had to act with the acting partner given to him (and even more so, kiss him).

What totally bugged me was the blatant product placement in this series. Usually, I don't mind product placement, but did they have to shove it in our faces every five minutes? Yes, we get it, this drink has zero percent sugar, no need to repeat it three times.

But, like I said, I liked the idea very much, I liked the script very much and I am simply in love with the acting of the supporting cast, especially the two guys playing Aou and Up, but actually, they were all wonderful and a delight to watch. What I also absolutely loved was seeing Ohm and Nanon from Bad Buddy again. They didn't have much screentime, but they made the most of it, especially Nanon.

My recommendation would be: If you can turn a blind eye on the main couple's lack of chemistry and Jimmy's acting, you might actually enjoy this one. I definitely think it is worth a watch. Thus, I give it a solid 6/10.

Boring
sameermukhtardeen28 August 2022
I am a huge fan of Jimmy after Bad buddy the series and I was anticipating this show since the first trailer came out. The pilot was intriguing with the whole parallel universes, swapping the universes, different rules, but then the show lost its purpose and forgot the premise. There is no conflict, no stakes, no goals for the protagonist, even finding the portkey thing is vague to the point of being annoying. I am disappointed. They didn't even try to write a decent story. I stopped watching after episode 5. What would have been more interesting to follow is the story of the other universe where the two best friends drifted apart by differences in this universe. Their we could follow how they would struggle to survive and solve their differences to become friends again to become lovers. I am not saying Ohm Nanon should have been casted, they could just have Sea and Jimmy in that universe and Ohm Nanon in the one that we actually follow.
