Episode 201
bobcobb30131 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I feel like Yellowjackets would be better off with standard 40-42 minute episodes. This ran far too long and considering it didn't advance too many plotlines I don't feel like it was necessary.

One of the few positives was that we didn't have to deal with the annoying Juliette Lewis until the majority of the episode was over, but eventually we saw the adult character and had to deal with her in the hostage crisis.

This show has a big and passionate following, but for me it has always been sort of okay. I don't think this episode succeeded in shaking that opinion from me in any way, shape or form.

Not a Great Way to Start a Season
truss-7462330 May 2023
This was not the best premiere. I thought it was lacking and just not a great episode. I also think that Lottie's cult was kinda weird and can someone tell me why they were burying that man? The season 1 premiere was far superior and had suspense and action while this one has nothing. I gotta say, after this premiere, I don't have too much hope for season 2. Really hoping that episode 2 is good or else we could be in a long string of meh episodes. If this episode made sense and less weird, maybe I would like it more. But since it is lacking action, drama, and a good storyline, this episode is making me nervous for the rest of season 2 and if it's gonna be good or not.

Back with a Buzz

I've had Yellowjackets on my watchlist for nearly a year, got round to watching the first season just a couple weeks ago. Watched many interviews with the cast. Then this premiered today... on my birthday!

It was an epic premiere. I applaud the writers, cast and even the cinematography. The twists and turns do not stop giving and it's delectable (no pun intended)

The small details really put things together and makes every scene more personal, like how Taissa' eyes have a glow of red now, consistently.

There's so many layers, to each character, and each episode, to unravel, and to not unravel, is the beauty of it all. It is a beautifully well made piece of work and this premiere was just the tip of another Yellowjacket spiking spiral to sink into.

I didn't think could get any better than season 1; I was wrong!
bledingham7424 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Great start to the season! I loved the time jumps, music choices (that's 2 season openers with Smashing Pumpkins!!!!), Misty "the detective and interrogation coach", Taissa's new pet, and the revival of Jackie through "Norman Bates"!!!!!

Lottie simply scares me, both the young and adult versions - so creepy. It's great that we're getting more of a backstory on her, and why she turned out the way that she did as an adult. She obviously looks to be some kind of a cult leader, and I can't wait to see where that story is going.

My only complaint is I wish the episode was longer!!!! We've had to wait 15 long months for this, and this 57 minutes flew by....the least they could've done I'd throw us a bone with some bonus coverage in episode 1!!!! Anyway, already counting down the days until episode 2!!!!

Shaky Season 2 premiere
hnt_dnl25 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I really hope that Yellowjackets doesn't pull a Westworld! Lol Small sample size, but the similarities are jarring so far. Much like the first season of Westworld, Season 1 of Yellowjackets was superb and looked like one of the best new series. And also unfortunately just like Westworld, the Season 2 premiere of Yellowjackets is below it's Season 1 standards and is already starting to reek of retconning. This S2 premiere episode of Yellowjackets was an example of quantity over quality. There was way too much going on, easily the most subplots the show has tried to juggle in it's short history. All of a sudden there are all these new characters stranded in the wilderness added to the ones we got to know in Season 1, including this dubious new Crystal character whose schtick seems to be constant singing and annoying everyone around her. Exactly where did this girl come from? Are the writers telling me that she actually existed the entire time in Season 1 and was doing all this constant humming and singing and no one noticed it? Kind of takes away from Jackie and Misty being the only 2 outsiders of the group. Adding new characters just to be cannibal fodder is not the best idea, especially when the viewer isn't invested in them. Next, there's all this random stuff that feels like filler, like yet another Shauna-Jeff kinky sex scene, random panic attacks, Jeff's head-banging to some popular 90s song in his car, that motel clerk's incredibly cringe and cheesy monologue to Misty, and any scene with the overly bratty and angsty Callie, easily the most useless, irrelevant, unlikable character of the show. All the interesting stuff (Lottie's cult compound, the Nat-Travis search for Javi, Tai's inner turmoil, the investigation into Adam's disappearance) was buried in a sea of randomness. Hopefully, this was just the typical premiere that sets up all the major subplots and the show gets back to the better paced writing and fleshed out characterization that existed in Season 1. Otherwise, this will be yet another one-season wonder that's fast becoming the norm in modern television.

What happened to this show?
adamlovecopy2 April 2023
Holy hell, this felt like a joke episode. It came off way more as hokey, silly, "supes edgy" Stranger Things-ish energy than anything in Season 1 or even episode 2 of the new season. The cinematography was so off that it was jarring to the point that I was wondering if this was the same show. Season 1's editing and cinematography was so up close that it felt claustrophobic and stuffy - it was absolute cinema gold. But this episode's angles were flat and uninteresting, creates zero urgency. The writing? Yikes-the pacing was all over the pace, they tried to cram way too much in and it felt like they tried to story-build new "characters" that were so minor in Season 1. And the Uber-cringey poop-singing clip-what show is this? Whoever edited and filmed this needs to go. I hope this show gets back on track. Season 1 was so well written and the pacing was absolutely perfect.

Bad start in season two
mwen001-225 March 2023
Really a bad start into the second season. First ten minutes are totally wrong in terms of editing. Horrible rhythm. Plus directing is below average. Some actors overact terrible. Really hard to get into a rhythm watching this episode! Very disappointing. I hope they get their act together throughout the season. Otherwise I am done with this show! Still has bad than season 1, but on full display
olilaflamme13 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Those who talk about bad writing and bad acting, meaningless subplot, etc., as if its a season 2 thing ; you need to watch back the 1st.

It was already there and pretty bad and obvious at that. The acting particularly. Maybe the first season had the young versions going for it, but the adult part...even the first season was a cringe watch. Maybe the novelty effect and giving the runner a chance, but yeah, same of the same.

I mean, seeing the daugther of Shauna rummaging through the bbq to find the drivers permit of Adam with the photo intact...wow lol. Did they recruit writers in college dorms?

Ridiculously fantastic premiere.
nagikirima25 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This episode rivals Doomcoming for the highest quantity of absolutely hilarious and insane character moments in an episode thusfar. Some stray observations:
  • Jesus Christ Tai is going to do something horrible to Van in the past. Their relationship is still adorable though.

  • Crystal is perfect.

  • What does the painting that Adam made of Shauna looking like an exposed flesh zombie mean?

  • Loved the detail of Nat and Travis using the pages from Cabin Guy's porno mags to keep themselves warm.

  • What Misty cannot accomplish through threats, she will achieve through obnoxiousness.

  • Love that Nat is mapping out the area in the past.

Insanely good premiere, beyond excited for this season!

The single worst episode in the history of TV
jaredkeahey26 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Insert Jackie Chan Mind Blown meme here. Where to begin with this absolute complete disaster and 100% the worst TV episode in the history of TV.

The tension is non existent. The writing is so terrible it cringes you to your core, but even if it were good, the scenes jump faster than the this show will crater. You cannot fathom how jumpy this episode is until you experience it first hand. Scenes with any tension, even the slightest, are cut randomly to launch you to another random plot like that makes zero sense. The show is a scatter fest of hilariously dumb, random scenes that shouldn't be happening, and could be replaced with literally any other idea on planet earth. Watching the actors force there way through the words is harder than watching the cannibalism. It's that bad. No, it's so, so much worse than anything you've even thought of.

Yes. I am sure everyone is okay with keeping Jackie's body out for Shauna to talk to? I guess the girls voted and coach had no issues with corpse chats. Every element of that even happening was so dumb. The boyfriend drama and cheating dialogue to the frozen corpse. Is this real life? This is your season opener? The only way that train wreck could possibly not run off a cliff, but rather fall off into a black hole, would be if Shauna were to start randomly eating Jackie's body parts. And here we are. In a black hole. This is the worst writing in the history of television. The very fact that the idea of Shauna talking to Jackie's frozen corpse for months was taken so seriously that it actually happened should terrify you for more future terrible ideas in Yellowjackets.

Yes. Let's spread our DNA all over Adam's studio. Let's get into the dumbest, most hilariously stupid fantasy sequence during a scene that should be filled with enormous tension and fear. Everything about this scene was horrid. The tone, timing, acting, and directing of what was supposed to be an intimate scene is the greatest F of all time. This scene literally should win awards for how bad it is. Why is Jeff in this show. Why are we here. There are incredible, mysterious, and unknown science fiction elements going on in Yellowjackets and we are getting repressed marriage house wife fantasies in art studios of victims we murdered? This can't be real.

Yes. Let's just give Travis a boner after he has a panic attack and a vision because, why the hell not at this point. Like... How was any of this allowed to be put into the script? How can you literally read this scene off and say, "Yup." This is the most random and obvious way to throw in a love triangle for more pointless drama it looks like... but to do it with a post anxiety attack dream vision boner? LOL... Is this real life?

Yes. Let's untie a kidnapped victim (Natalie) and give them a metal fork. Yes. Let's lean into them and trust that they will be nice. Yes. Yes. Yellowjacket writing team. Yes. Yes.

Adult Natalie - Episode literally could have began with Lottie entering the hostage room. No need for the worst kidnapping escape in the history of thought. Everything with Natalie this episode was a waste.

Adult Misty - Spends the entire episode whining and crying. That's been established. Imagine getting rid of all her cringe scenes, particularly with a random hotel clerk, and have the episode begin with her discovering Natalie has been kidnapped. Plot stuff. Plot advances. Brain think thoughts. Everything with Misty this episode was a waste.

Adult Shauna - A cheating, nonempathetic, bad mother, omega Karen, and her loser husband are going to be the focal point of the adult drama for the season. Fantastic. Adam's story line was the biggest weight of boredom in Season 1, so we are doubling down. No, great idea. I literally have no care whatsoever for what is actually going on to the kids in the woods. Give me soap box Karen please over the mystery, sci-fi, and horror. What even is this show.

Adult Tai - Yes. Having an emotional scene with the new dog Steve and promising not to hurt it definitely is where this character needs to be focused. Tai apparently is having more empathy for the new puppy than the complete horrifying disaster she has just put her wife through. We are not at all worried about never seeing our son again. But... "Steveeeee. It was a mistake!! I will never hurt you Steveeeee!" LOOOOOL.

2 gay teenagers expressing love, concerns, fear, and support for 2 minutes of film is the only star the episode gets, because that is literally the only scene that worked and contextually made any sense.

In a single episode, Yellowjackets has died. WOW.

Very hard to watch this episode
drbarbc-526-51746631 March 2023
And I'm not even done watching it yet. The pacing is horrible! I keep having to rewind it. Can't follow the storyline. I see the next episode has a much higher rating. I hope that's true & it starts to get good again. It was such a fantastic show

And even writing it twice, I didn't hit 600 characters. Now I hate hit six hundred.
