Christopher McQuarrie is said to be directing a remake of the 1977 Clint Eastwood thriller The Gauntlet, with Scarlett Johansson and Tom Cruise circling.
It’s coming up on a couple of years now since Christopher McQuarrie hinted that he and Tom Cruise would continue working together beyond the next two Mission: Impossible films, both of which were yet to be unveiled to the world at that point.
McQuarrie didn’t give too much away at the time, simply telling the Light The Fuse podcast that “it’s kind of under wraps. It has neither a fuse nor a fuselage. Oh that’s not true. It does have some fuselages. It’s something we’ve talked about for a really long time. It’s way outside of what you’re used to seeing Tom do. It’s the kind of stuff I really love. It’s a little bit more in my wheelhouse.

Greg Daniels’ long-awaited spinoff series of “The Office” is finally taking shape.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sabrina Impacciatore (known for “The White Lotus”) and Domhnall Gleeson have been cast as the first two actors in the upcoming series.
Daniels, co-creator of the US version of “The Office,” has emphasized that the new series is a spinoff rather than a reboot, although it will share the same universe as the original show.
“I don’t like to think of anything as a reboot,” Daniels explained previously. “Because I feel like we ended that story beautifully. The characters had closure. I would never want to redo that same show with a different cast, because I think we got the luckiest cast, the best cast ever, in TV, to do that show. So the notion of a reboot is not of interest.”

The new iteration of “The Office” currently in development has started to flesh out its cast.
Variety has confirmed with sources that Sabrina Impacciatore and Domhnall Gleeson are attached to the project, which remain in development at Universal Television. They would occupy two roles in what would be an ensemble cast, like the original versions of the show.

Gleeson has recently starred in shows such as “Alice & Jack,” “The Patient,” “Frank of Ireland,” and “Run.” He is perhaps best known for his role as General Hux in the new “Star Wars” film trilogy. He has also starred in films such as “Frank,...

The series is described as a character driven mystery thriller in which Bana plays Eric Inman, “a special agent for the National Parks Service who works to enforce human law in nature’s vast wilderness. The investigation of a brutal death sends Inman on a collision course with the dark secrets within the park, and in his own past.”
Along with the Smiths, Bana is also an executive producer on the series. John Wells and Erin Jontow also executive produce via John Wells Productions, as do Todd Black and Tony Shaw for Escape Artists Entertainment, Steve Lee Jones for Bee Holder Productions, and Cliff Roberts for Syndicate Entertainment. Warner Bros. TV has lined up a powerhouse creative team for an adaptation of Glennon Doyle’s best-selling book Untamed.
Sarah Paulson is set to star in the drama, and former Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 showrunner Krista Vernoff will adapt Doyle’s memoir. Warners and Bad Robot, which has rights to the book, plan to take the project to potential buyers in the coming weeks.
Reps for Warner Bros. TV and Bad Robot declined to comment.
Jessie Nelson (Apple’s Little Voice, Waitress: The Musical), Vernoff’s producing partner and husband Alexandre Schmitt and Andrew Stearn (via the trio’s Trip the Light Productions) will also serve as executive producers. Untamed marks Vernoff’s first TV project since she left Grey’s and Station 19 at the end of the 2022-23 season, as well as her first work after exiting an overall deal with ABC Signature.

Martin Scorsese recently attended the 96th Academy Awards as his film Killers of the Flower Moon was nominated in 10 categories at the event. The director came with his daughter Francesca Scorsese and the cast of his film to represent the film at the prestigious award ceremony. Lily Gladstone was their best shot at nabbing an award for the night for Best Actress.

Unfortunately, the film did not win even one Oscar, and returned home empty-handed. However, Scorsese and his daughter seemed to have had a great time at the ceremony, especially during the live musical performances. The next Paul Thomas Anderson movie has a release date.
While announcing several calendar placements for its upcoming theatrical slate, Warner Bros. revealed on Tuesday that Anderson’s untitled project starring Leonardo DiCaprio will arrive in theaters (including IMAX venues) on August 8, 2025.
Little is officially known about Anderson’s new movie, other than its cast: DiCaprio, Sean Penn, “Licorice Pizza” breakout Alana Haim, “A Thousand and One” star Teyana Taylor, and Regina Hall. Unofficially, however, the film has a reported budget north of $115 million, according to Variety. There has also been broad and unconfirmed speculation that the untitled feature is at least partially inspired or based on Thomas Pynchon’s 1990 novel “Vineland.” That book was set in the mid-1980s, although it’s unclear if Anderson’s potential take on the material would follow its same timeline. (Anderson previously adapted Pynchon’s “Inherent Vice” for the big screen.)

For the first time in 12 years, the Best Picture and Best Actor Oscars have gone to the same film. “Oppenheimer” took the top honor at Sunday’s 96th Academy Awards, moments after Cillian Murphy prevailed for his lead turn as J. Robert Oppenheimer.
“The Artist” (2011) was the last film to accomplish this feat as Jean Dujardin nabbed Best Actor. That came a year after “The King’s Speech” and star Colin Firth pulled off the double. Since these back-to-back wins, there have been a few close calls. “Birdman” (2014) won four Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Director, but not for its leading man Michael Keaton. The following year, Leonardo DiCaprio won his long-awaited Best Actor trophy for “The Revenant,” which won Best Director but not Best Picture.

“Oppenheimer” is the 28th film to win Best Picture and Best Actor. Of those, thrice has a film also won Best Actress.

Leonardo DiCaprio might not have been nominated for an award for his performance in Killers of the Flower Moon at the 2024 Oscars, but with the movie and his costars up for 10, it was assumed he would be at the ceremony at the Dolby Theatre on March 10. However, as viewers were quick to notice, not only was DiCaprio not seen on the red carpet—though there were delays due to protestors blocking traffic outside the theater—but he wasn’t spotted in the audience alongside the rest of his cast and the team of Killers of the Flower Moon when they were shown multiple times throughout the night. DiCaprio has been nominated for seven Oscars over this career—including for What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, The Aviator, Blood Diamond, The Wolf of Wall Street, and Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood—and won once for Best Performance by an Actor in a...

Transitioning from the 90s heartthrob to a womanizer, Leonardo DiCaprio has recently gained quite a reputation in the entertainment industry. Although famously known for his tear-jerking performance in Titanic and his Oscar-winning role as Hugh Glass in The Revenant (2015), DiCaprio has currently acquired notoriety for dating women younger than 25 years old.

While his lush life is being envied by many, Leonardo DiCaprio recently faced some allegations from a young Playboy model, Hieke Konings. Going on the record to reveal that the actor isn’t the best hook-up partner, Konings revealed how DiCaprio has a weird way of handling rejection. Further sharing a few of his alleged bedroom habits that are a big turn-off, the model seemingly exposed the actor.

Mexican supervising sound editor Martín Hernández, who was Oscar-nominated for Best Sound Editing for Birdman and The Revenant in 2014 and 2015 respectively, says the category is wide open this year due to the variety of movies in the running.
Features nominated in the category span The Zone of Interest, Oppenheimer and Maestro as well as surprise short list entries The Creator and Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.
“Isn’t that unfair? I mean, they’re so different and the work in every one of them is equally good. That’s gonna be tough,” Hernández told Deadline in a one-on-one at the Doha Film Institute’s Qumra event in Qatar this week.
Hernández, who has been a voting member of the Academy since 2015, refrained from saying anything else about the films in the running for the Best Sound trophy on Sunday for fear of breaking the org’s rules for voters.

The films competing for the 2024 Best Production Design Oscar are “Barbie,” “Killers of the Flower Moon,” “Napoleon,” “Oppenheimer,” and “Poor Things.” Our odds currently indicate that “Barbie” (17/5) will be the winner, followed in order of likelihood by “Poor Things” (7/2), “Oppenheimer” (4/1), “Killers of the Flower Moon” (9/2), and “Napoleon” (9/2).
After 1970 and 2004, this is only the third year in Oscars history that the same five movies are nominated for Best Production Design and Best Costume Design. The two present lineups differ, however, in that none of the former’s individual contenders are past winners, constituting the first such instance in the category since 2009. In that case, the only returning nominees were art director Nathan Crowley (“The Dark Knight”) and set decorator Gary Fettis (“Changeling”).
Leading this year’s production design hopefuls in terms of total career nominations are “Barbie” duo Sarah Greenwood and Katie Spencer, who earned joint recognition for half a dozen earlier films.

The films in contention for the 2024 Best Costume Design Oscar are “Barbie,” “Killers of the Flower Moon,” “Napoleon,” “Oppenheimer,” and “Poor Things.” Our current odds posit “Barbie” (10/3) as the frontrunner, followed in order by “Poor Things” (7/2), “Killers of the Flower Moon” (9/2), “Oppenheimer” (9/2), and “Napoleon” (9/2).
Since she was previously feted for “Anna Karenina” (2013) and “Little Women” (2020), Jacqueline Durran’s ninth career nomination for “Barbie” could make her the dozenth costumer with three or more wins. As is the case this time, her 2020 bid resulted from a collaboration with director Greta Gerwig, while her 2013 one was her third of five for a Joe Wright film, after “Pride & Prejudice” (2006) and “Atonement” (2008) and before “Darkest Hour” (2018) and “Cyrano” (2022). Her remaining two bids came for “Mr. Turner” (2015) and “Beauty and the Beast” (2018).

“Oppenheimer” lenser Hoyte van Hoytema took top honors from the American Society of Cinematographers on Sunday. He edged out all four of his Oscar rivals for Best Cinematography: Edward Lachman (“El Conde”), Matthew Libatique (“Maestro”), Rodrigo Prieto (“Killers of the Flower Moon”) and Robbie Ryan (“Poor Things”).
Over its 38-year history, the ASC has predicted 152 of the 190 Oscar nominees, including four in 2019, 2020 and 2021 and all five this year and in both 2018 and 2017. Last year, it previewed three of the Best Cinematography contenders — Roger Deakins (“Empire of Light”), Darius Khondji (“Bardo”) and Mandy Walker (“Elvis”). While Walker won over the ASC, she lost the Oscar to “All Quiet on the Western Front” lenser James Friend.
Indeed, the ASC choice for the best in the business has presaged the eventual winner at the Oscars only 17 times:
Dean Semler, “Dances with Wolves” (1991)
John Toll, “Braveheart” (1996)
John Seale, “The English Patient” (1997)
Russell Carpenter, “Titanic” (1998)

In a stunning cinematic universe where sand dunes rise like mountains and the fate of galaxies hangs in the balance, Denis Villeneuve’s first voyage into the Frank Herbert’s “Dune” saga clinched six of its 10 Oscar nominations. Yet, in a twist as dramatic as Dr. Wellington killing Duke Leto, Villeneuve found himself overlooked in the best director category — a snub that left fans (and pundits) in disbelief. I dare the Academy’s Directors Branch to make such an omission once again.
As “Dune: Part Two” unfolds, we dive back into the treacherous universe alongside Paul Atreides, played by the ever-charismatic Timothée Chalamet. Seeking vengeance for his father’s death (Oscar Isaac), Paul’s journey intertwines with new allies and enemies, portrayed by a constellation of stars including Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Javier Bardem and Christopher Walken.

When comedian and actor Rob Delaney landed a role in Mission: Impossible 7, he was understandably thrilled to work with legendary star Tom Cruise. But what blew Delaney away most was the sheer depth of Cruise’s filmmaking knowledge on set.
There is no doubt that Cruise has an extensive knowledge of every bit of work he does. Delaney plays an agent working to apprehend Ethan Hunt. As part of a special operations group, Joint Special Operations Command (Jsoc). His character is determined to stop Hunt’s team though their motives may differ.

There’s no denying that Leonardo DiCaprio is a phenomenal actor and ever since his Titanic performed exceptionally well at the box office, he has stayed in the limelight and became one of the biggest names in the entertainment industry. However, the Academy Award-winner actor has often been making headlines off-screen as he is notorious for dating younger women.
Leonardo DiCaprio in The Revenant
Even though age gaps in a relationship are not a big issue, when one constantly dates people who are half their age, it automatically attracts attention followed by criticism and trolling. Such was the case with Leonardo DiCaprio, who would often date young supermodels and has earned the title of Hollywood’s playboy. A fan of the Inception actor mocked him for his dating life with the weirdest possible joke and people are loving it.

Following lots of speculation and reports, Tom Cruise looks to be heading for a career shift back towards dramatic roles.
Just yesterday we covered a story that was being widely reported, suggesting that Tom Cruise was interested in securing a role in Quentin Tarantino’s The Movie Critic. That report was confirmed by multiple separate sources and was apparently one of the projects Cruise discussed when he signed a deal with Warner Bros last month.
That deal looks increasingly like it will provide Cruise with the foundation to shift his career into a new stage, focusing less on action parts and slipping back into the kind of dramatic roles that were once a key staple of his filmography.
We know now what the first step of that strategy will probably look like, following the announcement that Cruise will be starring in the next project from Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, the director of Birdman and The Revenant.

Though he's been happy hanging off of planes (or flying them) for the last few years in the Mission: Impossible and Top Gun franchises, Tom Cruise is also looking to get back to the sort of auteur-driven, smaller-scale work that saw him win acclaim with the likes of Magnolia. Now, on the heels of him making a deal with Warner Bros., it appears he's tracked down his choice. Cruise is on to star in Alejandro G. Iñárritu's next, untitled film.
Little is known about the new project, as the director is keeping it top secret for now. Deadline has learned that he wrote it in 2023 with Sabina Berman alongside his Birdman collaborators Alexander Dinelaris and Nicolas Giacobone.
Iñárritu took a break between 2015's Oscar-winning The Revenant and 2022's Bardo: False Chronicle Of A Handful Of Truths, which was released via Netflix.
