Not sure about new characters
riverdweller3128 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I don't really get the addition of Cara Delevingne, seems like an odd addition. Same with Amy Schumer. What I loved about the first season is how 'cosy' it was and the three of them together, I hope it gets more like that!

Great show but could do without Amy Shumer
grlym-4684930 June 2022
I love the packing and humour if the show.

But Amy shumer just comes off as a speed bump that takes you out of the show and makes me think about commenting how bad she is on IMDB.

And then resume watching in hopes she doesn't appear again. The show would easily be a 9 if they ditched the D list guest actors.

Not a fan of how they wrote out Oscar
Kenjislamberry16 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I feel bad for the actor who played Oscar . It feels off the Oscar wasn't around to help Mabel out even if they aren't together. Mabel spent last season trying to prove Oscar's innocence . So its weird she would end things like that without breaking up with him in person. It makes her seem heartless. I don't like Mabel and Alice they have no chemistry together . Mabel was much better with Oscar . The writers did a bad job handling Oscar's disappearance . Cara's character feels very forced and Amy Schumer is annoying not a cool cameo like Sting . Amy is not funny they should have got someone else . I hope they bring back Oscar next season even if its a small cameo. We need closure with Oscar .

Enjoyed the addition of MacLaine
tmichelet7 July 2022
She fit into the NYC vibe by with her quirkiness. Normally I like Amy Schumer. Not in this particular role however. The painting motive is intriguing. But so far Season 1 was better.

Still loving the show
Amend32329 June 2022
I'm still loving the show. I think the storyline is interesting and it's moving forward quite nicely and it has similar atmosphere to season 1. The humour is great, in this episode I particularly enjoyed the exchange between Charles and Uma regarding the bottle of wine.

However, I do agree with other reviews regarding the two new characters. The casting just seems off. But if I look past that I'm still enjoying it as much as season 1.

Not having the same feeling...
sarah-137-55751729 June 2022
I became absolutely obsessed with season 1 of Only Murders in the Building. Most of all I loved the main three characters together. Each episode had me on the edge of my seat while giving me a few laughs. This season is leaving me flat and I think it has to do with some of the new characters that were added in. One in particular...Alice (Cara Delevingne) is soooo wrong for the show/plot. I'm cringing at Cara Delevingne's "acting". She feels so forced as does Amy Schumer. Please, please, please don't run this show off the rails!

Killer start
toma26nikolov29 June 2022
First of all, Amy Schumer had a 2 minute role in this episode and she "ruined" absolutely nothing, as some of you say. Mystery keeps getting bigger and I can't wait to see what's next!

Non-sequitur
Hitchcoc30 June 2022
I'm disappointed so far. We have some history portrayed and Shirley MacLaine showing up. She is pretty good. But Amy Schumer is mugging like crazy. The writers have given her powers. Mabel is being bisexual which so far has nothing to do with anything. And the stupid handling of the painting is a distraction.

Hope it gets better
skaterryan1229 June 2022
So far two episodes in and I'm not feeling it like I did for season 1. Definitely not a fan of the new characters and not sure if I need to go back and rewatch season 1, but what happened to Oscar? Seriously do not remember his arc ended in season 1.

It's all about Martin and Short
azakamarek22 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
**edit - S2 did not disappoint! Just when you thought you had it figured out it took you for a spin. I take back everything cynical I said about S2 I was wrong. Can't wait for S3. Selena's acting wasn't the best yet she got nominated for the Golden Globes... hmm

I tuned in to watch S1 because I wanted to see Steve Martin and Martin Short. The duo did not disappoint. Always liked Selena Gomez so that was a bonus. S1 was good. I predicted the killer early on which was disappointing but over all I enjoyed the show. I was looking forward to S2. So far it's ok. Episode 2 and I think i know who the killer already . I think It's Alice. I hope I'm very much wrong because otherwise there's no point in watching remaining 8 episodes. Anyway, S2 is still entertaining due to Martin and Short. However Selena is very dense and dry. She's lifeless almost. More so than last season.

Not a fan of Amy Schumer......
librarian-4345215 July 2022
I know she's a big star. And if other folks love her in this show, that's fine. I'm not one of them. Her style of gutter humor ("I was riding a motorcycle and s**t myself" line for example), and seemingly mugging for the camera just isn't a good fit in my opinion. Which granted, isn't worth much, but there it is.

Oh boy

Warning: Spoilers
Like many others here, even those that has given it high ratings for some reason, I'm not liking the direction the show has taken. Martin, Short, Gomez are still good, but Schumer is horrible. Not funny, can't act, and is so bad, it's distracting.

Why is Mable now bi-sexual? Where's Oscar? And why is the new girl, in the show, making out with Mable? Doesn't seem like something the Mable character, who was painted as a loner, not trusting of others, would be doing. Just odd & confusing.

Still a great show
thingsager7 July 2022
The show is quite funny. I've missed those two guys so much. Steve Martin and Martin Short will never lose their relevance and comedic talent.

I for one like both Shirley McLaine and Amy Shumers performances.

But why use Chloe Delevinge. She is such a bad actor.

I'm hoping this awesome show doesn't go off the rails
ganthc-985573 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
People are complaining about Amy Schumer. That doesn't bother me, because the building seems to need a real life star to intermingle in the story. Last season it was Sting, and this time it's Amy. I am confused how Sting would ever let Amy stay at his place though. She is at least an interesting character. I'm fine with her being in it, as long as she isn't a throwaway character.

The real issue is the 180 turn on Mabel's character. She's now interested in women too? That would be okay if she had shown any sign that it was part of her character or she showed interest in her female friend growing up, besides only being interested in Tim and Oscar. The bizarre romance just seems shoehorned because she's interested in a weird woman that she's met twice for about five minutes of screen time. Meanwhile, we get a toss away line that Oscar might be out of the picture? It also seems awkwardly done.

The saving grace of the episode is the introduction of Shirley McLaine, as Bunny's mother. Great casting, and I think her character will add a lot to this season if she's a regular. Also, I'm hoping for a return of Jane Lynch, especially with the Brazzos show getting rebooted. Lynch was phenomenal last season for her one episode.

A Terrible Follow-Up to a Solid Opener
vipham26022 July 2022
The second episode of the second season is unfortunately a let down. Easily the weakest episode of the whole series so far. The addition of Cara Delevingne and Amy Schumer to the cast does nothing for the show.

Delevingne's addition, whilst generally unnecessary, shows some potential growth and plot relevance. The same can't be said for Schumer who plays herself in an attempt to recreate Sting's cameo of season one only the difference is, while Sting's appearance was self-contained to his two episodes it seems Schumer has been written to have a longer presence in the season.

One can only hope that this episode is a blip in what will be a great season.

meh
bernie-2301630 June 2022
People really complaining about Cara not being able to act when the show has got Selena Gomez.in it?

Their side story with them seems forced and false.

Amy Schumer is appalling as usual.

Hopefully the story will kick in soon and these subpar subplots will be left behind.

Warning: Spoilers
This episode was a bit of a struggle to get through. This is still a good show, but a lot of this did not work. The scenes at the gathering were really not entertaining.

Another appearance
Alberthorta129 July 2022
The insufferable Amy Schumer has made another appearance. Why is this woman allowed to appear on TV is beyond me. The trash container outside the arconia had a better acting part than Amy. Please make it stop with Amy.

Amy Schumer ruins it. Not funny
elisawoolley3 October 2023
Was good until Amy Schumer ruined it. Season 1 was great and looking forward to Paul Rudd & Meryl Streep but Amy ugh. So annoying.

I love Steve Martin & Martin Short. Selena Gomez is great too, her dryness & honesty works so well.

Feel like I'm just watching it to get through it now to reach the end without Amy. Really hope Amy isn't in every episode now. She's not funny & so irritating. How is she still getting work.

Will keep watching for Martin Shorts one liners he's so funny. The three of them are really good together & all other characters are funny except one.... Amy

Looking forward to a season without her!!

Laws of Inheritance
The second instalment of the second series goes back in time: we learn more about Arconia, the building where 'only murders' have been taking place; about Bunny Folger (Jayne Houdyshell) and her family; and about Charles's (Steve Martin) relationship with his father. (Young Charles was a very neat boy. Young Bunny had a kitten. Arconia has hidden passages, purposefully designed by its salacious architect.)

The best part of this episode is the sudden appearance of Shirley MacLaine. Cast as Bunny's mother, the acting legend (she was 88 when the segment aired) is brilliant in a largely comedic part - and her character just might have the best wardrobe. I'm sorry, Oliver.

Perhaps, the most memorable part of the episode - and not for any good reason - is the scene shared by Mabel (Selena Gomez) and Alice (Cara Delevingne), in which the latter invites the former to destroy a sculpture. In the group chat where I discuss the series with friends, the commentary read, 'I made this lump. It's you. Here's an axe. This is Meaningful.' My own commentary was less articulate, along the lines of 'It's just ugh.' This particular scene is so bad that even Billie Eilish playing in the background cannot save it.

Amy Schumer's performance, on the other hand, while annoying, comes across as intentional. Do I want her character to die? Yes. Do I expect from Schumer a switch to less comedic and more dramatic delivery, with some sincerity of tone? Also, yes.

Mrs Gambolini (voiced by Jayne Houdyshell) continues to be excellent as both parrot and plot device.

It's fine, BUT
pisces-373305 July 2022
Why is everyone concerned with Mabel's sexuality? Just because she was is in a heterosexual relationship prior, doesn't mean she wasn't bisexual in the first season.

Aside from that, this season is fine, Amy Schumer is a bit annoying, but I'm interested to see how Season 2 is handled.

People over-exaggerating the negative qualities
JimmyWhimmyNutrinSon22 August 2022
Look, none of us find Schumer funny. Nothing to do with sex, theres many great female comedians. But like, she's not particularly bad in this I don't think. It's a bit of a derailment, but i really don't think its THAT bad.

And with Mabel's sexuality, I'm not saying people are being homophobic or anything but once again, I don't understand why people dislike it so much outside of just not liking gay people. And this is coming from a gay person that I get why it feels kinda random, but its just characterisation I feel. And I like how it isn't so over dramatic and such a big thing, it feels more casual.

Overall, I think this season's still pretty good and I don't understand why people are so unhappy with it. Sure, if there was less Schumer it'd be better, but its overall good.

This season already is losing me
shadow_knight05 July 2022
The first season was fire. But the subplots that they've added this season aren't pulling me in at all. Amy Schumer is...herself. And Mabel's "out-of-left-field" girlfriend subplot? Lame.

Hide the board!
AvionPrince168 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
We hear also the story of Bunny and her past briefly. And we know that Savage its the name of the board. And they meet the mother of Bunny. And they make a plan to hide the board. Maybe they have a conspiracy against us? All the people try to make them guilty about the murder. We see Mabel getting more and more closer to the professional friend with who she had been in contact with. They know also more about. The dead woman and her parents in the past. They see the painting in the neighbour's room but they reveal that was a reproduction. We learn more about the past of Charles. And the mother of Bunny and the dad of Charles had an affair together. And the parrot make a big revelation: he knows who did it. And the episode end. Very interesting

Its pretty slow and its really more a comedy genre even if the investigations still going on but its really more comedy but i didnt really mind about it and find the investigations part interesting enough to make it pleasant to follow despite the comedy. We still have some mysteries and we wondering who try to make our heroes guilty of a murder that they didnt commit. And we still try to think what happened. And we know that the parrot have some revelations but im not sure that he will reveal anything of it and how it will reveal it. Still have some surprises and revelations and we waiting for more. Im hoping that the writers will not make the story weird or hard to believe but im just wondering what will happened. Nice episode.
