Less than one month after releasing in theaters, Universal has announced that their vampire ballerina horror movie Abigail will be headed home to “Premium VOD” this week.
We’ve learned this morning that you’ll be able to buy ($24.99) or rent ($19.99) Abigail at home beginning tomorrow, May 7, 2024, from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.
Abigail is the third vampire movie from the Universal Monsters brand in the past year, the film scaring up $34.7 million at the worldwide box office these past few weeks. That gives it a higher worldwide gross than both The Last Voyage of the Demeter ($21.7 million) and Renfield ($26.4 million), and it’s also the most critically successful of the three vampire movies.
Meagan Navarro wrote in her positive review here on Bloody Disgusting, “Radio Silence’s ballerina vampire movie is a bloody blast.” Her review continued, “It’s savagely inventive in terms of its vampiric gore, offering a thrill ride with sharp,...

Both extremely bloody cat-and-mouse chases through massive mansions, Radio Silence’s horror movies Ready or Not and Abigail (now playing in theaters!) are certainly cut from the same cloth, but do they actually take place within a shared universe? It was a question the filmmakers were asked, and their response suggests that the answer to that question is Yes.
Collider’s Perri Nemiroff asked the question of Radio Silence filmmakers Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, who co-directed both 2019’s Ready or Not and this year’s Abigail. As they point out, an Easter egg nestled within Abigail confirms a shared universe connection.
Bettinelli-Olpin tells Collider, “There is a portrait in the background of one of the scenes [in Abigail] of Henry Czerny’s [character from Ready or Not].” Gillet chimes in to clarify, “It would be a grandfather. A great, great, great, great grandfather [of Czerny’s character].”
Bettinelli-Olpin adds, “There is a little bit...

Monsters are everywhere! Godzilla and Kong are going at it once again (this time as a double act) and now Abigail has hit screens, a movie about a heist gone wrong where the loot is an adorable 12-year-old ballerina. Starring Dan Stevens, Melissa Barrera and Kathryn Newton and directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett aka Radio Silence, who made the raucous Ready Or Not (as well as the most recent Scream movies), it’s a gore-soaked genre love letter that at one point had ties to the Universal Monsters canon.
Without Abigail spoilers, that’s not entirely evident in the finished product, which is nonetheless an absolute blast but it feels like a good time to celebrate the rich history of these creature features. After all, they aren’t going away anytime soon. From Leigh Whannell’s excellent take on The Invisible Man in 2020 to Zelda Williams and Diablo Cody’s Liza Frankenstein,...

If you are a horror fan then you might have heard about the director duo of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, who gave us brilliant horror films like 2022’s Scream and 2019’s Ready or Not and now they are back with their new and even campier horror film Abigail. Written by Stephen Shields and Guy Busick, the new horror film is a reimagining of the 1936 Universal Classic Monsters film Dracula’s Daughter and it follows the story of a group of kidnappers who are told to kidnap the daughter of a very powerful man and keep her in the house for 24 hours, but they quickly realize that the daughter might not be what she seems. Abigail stars Alisha Weir, Melissa Barrera, Dan Stevens, Will Catlett, Kathryn Newton, Kevin Durand, Angus Cloud, Giancarlo Esposito, and Matthew Goode. So, if you loved the horror, survival, and gory elements of Abigail here are some...

Ballerinas might look delicate, but there's a lot of strength behind those dance moves -- especially if the ballerina happens to be a vampire. "Abigail," the new horror flick from "Ready or Not" directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, stars Alisha Weir ("Matilda the Musical") as a tiny dancer who turns on the criminal crew who were hired to kidnap her for ransom. Being an extremely gory cat-and-mouse game set in a grand mansion, "Abigail" shares a lot of DNA with "Ready or Not," and it's off to an even better start at the box office.
Variety reports that "Abigail" grossed $4 million on its opening day, including $1 million from Thursday night previews, and it's expected to make at least $10 million over its opening weekend. That's slightly behind earlier projections of a $12-15 million debut, but ahead of the $8 million that "Ready or Not" made over its first weekend. With Alex Garland...

Creed’s Summer of ’99 cruise boarded in Miami on Thursday (April 18th), and the reunited band didn’t waste any time delivering their first concert in 12 years. Scott Stapp and company rocked a 16-song set for the thrilled passengers.
The band — featuring original members Stapp, Mark Tremonti, Scott Phillips, Brian Marshall, along with touring guitarist Eric Friedman — opened the set appropriately with the song “Are You Ready?” They proceeded to play favorites such as “Torn,” “My Own Prison,” “Weathered,” and “Faceless Man.”

The main set ended with the one-two punch of the sing-along anthems “With Arms Wide Open” and “Higher,” after which Stapp led the crowd in a rendition of “Happy Birthday” for Tremonti, who turned 50 years old today. The band then returned for an encore of “One Last Breath” and “My Sacrifice.”

Radio Silence follow up Ready Or Not and two Scream films with the bloody and very 18-rated Abigail. Here’s our review.
It was only after walking out of a screening of Abigail that I appreciated just how much of it had been let out of the bag via its promotion. Not the ending or anything, but more the way the film turns from being the kidnap heist thriller it starts off as into, well, something else. I mention this not by way of criticism, but more to explain why this review isn’t going anywhere near stuff even shown in the trailer. I saw this cold and had an absolute blast. I can’t give you an honest reading as to how I’d feel had I known what was around the corner.
Still. I’m hardly playing surprises to suggest that there’s a horror tinge to this,...

Horror-comedy is one of the most intriguing genres out there, as it includes a weird mix of spooky terrors and sudden bouts of uncontrollable laughter. One of the many successful films that belonged to that genre is Samara Weaving’s Ready or Not. With an interesting premise and gore-filled comedy, the 2019 film managed to earn over $57 million at the global box office with a minuscule budget of $6 million.

Viewers who loved the thriller-comedy can now rejoice as a sequel to the film is currently in the works. And it has been confirmed that Samara Weaving will be returning for part 2. The script is complete, and the Radio Silence directing team is working out to bring the next installment to silver screens.

Has it really been five years since the release of Ready or Not? The film, which starred Samara Weaving as a young bride who her spouse’s wealthy family hunts as part of a ritual, received positive reviews and didn’t do too badly at the box office, so where’s the sequel? Well, directors Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and producer Chad Villella — collectively known as Radio Silence — told Entertainment Weekly that they’ve been working on Ready or Not 2 since the release of the first movie and tease that it’s “an absolute f***ing banger.“
“It’s getting figured out,” said Gillett. “That’s what we’ll say: Ready or Not 2 is getting figured out. What we can say is that there is a script that is an absolute f—ing banger of a sequel. And however it gets made, and in whatever capacity we are helping get it made,...

Abigail, the latest from directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, feels like a spiritual sibling to their 2019 hit Ready or Not. Both are set almost entirely within a sprawling, warm-toned mansion and both deliver copious blood splatter to a delightfully satisfying degree. But Abigail is an inverse of Ready or Not; instead of one heroine targeted and preyed upon by a group of morally dubious enemies, it’s one vicious threat picking off morally dubious kidnappers one by one, slasher style.
While that may make for a more conventional watch with fewer surprises, Radio Silence’s ballerina vampire movie is a bloody blast all the same.
The heist-turned-vampire feature begins with the coordinated kidnapping of 12-year-old ballerina Abigail (Alisha Weir), the daughter of a powerful crime lord guaranteed to fetch a hefty ransom prize. Samara Weaving blew up on the scene when she was the lead of the horror-tinged action flick Ready or Not. She’s claiming her spot as the hybrid scream queen/action heroine with Azrael, a midnight movie that has plenty of great action and effects, carrying it through a thin premise that wouldn’t be particularly entertaining were it not for these excellent technical elements.
In the movie, Samara Weaving plays a woman who is on the run from a religious cult that wants to sacrifice her to an ancient deity in the woods. What makes Azrael stand out is that it is set in a world where no one speaks. It’s the latest in a string of dialogue-free genre films (after No One Will Save You and Silent Night), and while it justifies the gimmick better than most in the past, it doesn’t always work.

The term “scream queen” gets thrown around a lot, even applied to actors who have only done a handful of horror films. But if any young performer deserves the title, it’s Samara Weaving. Not only does she star in the very gruesome post-apocalyptic horror-action movie Azrael, directed by E.L. Katz (Cheap Thrills) and written by Simon Barrett (The Guest), which just premiered at SXSW 2024, but she’s been in The Babysitter, Scream VI, and Ready or Not, among others. In fact, when we ask Weaving at the festival whether she likes being referred to as a “scream queen,” she answers quickly, “Yeah, why not? ‘Scream Queen’ is great. I’ll take it!”
For Weaving, the appeal of horror movies goes beyond the guts and gore most often associated with the genre. “It’s such a good vehicle to explore so many things,” she tells Den of Geek. “For [Azrael], it...

There are a lot of shows based on reality television that have been coming out of the Southeast Asia Belt. The most notable are Squid Game from Netflix Korea and Alice in Borderland from Netflix Japan. Both revolve around an in-universe TV show and the drama around it. There are games, rounds, elimination, a crowd favorite participant, and a winner. Directed by Yanyong Kuruangkura, this Thai Netflix original show is a satirical take on all the reality dating shows and the extent to which women are objectified for the male gaze.
Ready, Set, Love is a six-episode-long miniseries, with each episode having a run time of more than an hour. The show is about Day, a grocery store employee taking part in the annual Ready, Set, Love reality show, which showcases five eligible men who are put on the market, who get to choose their date and possibly the love of their life.

Cord Jefferson’s directorial debut, American Fiction, has slowly but surely, quietly but confidently, been picking up buzz throughout awards season. At the time of writing, the team behind the film can celebrate earning five Oscar nominations, too, and most of them are thoroughly deserved. I managed to go into the movie fairly blind, and the experience was all the better for it, too. But that’s not because American Fiction is stacked with plot twists or big reveals. No, it is simply because Jefferson has delivered such a surprisingly charming and entertaining film that you will find it impossible to leave the theater without a smile on your face.
American Fiction is the story of Monk, real name Thelonious Ellison (Jeffrey Wright). Monk is a fairly well-respected author but has struggled to put his name to a hit novel for quite some time. He is forced to take a...

We’ve all got that one bad ex in our past. At first they seemed like a dream come true – an angel sent straight from heaven to be our perfect match. They were attractive, spontaneous, generous, kind … We spent most of our time indulging in months-long bone-a-thons and we just figured the future would take care of itself! And then we met the inlaws. Fortunately, no matter how stressful these “meet the parents” occasions may have been, they probably don’t hold a candle to what Grace (Samara Weaving) endures in Ready or Not. This gorgeous bride has just married the man of her dreams at a lavish estate wearing god’s gift to wedding dresses only to find out that she’s unwittingly entered into a bizarre gaming ritual that might end up costing her life.

This gorgeous bride has just married the man of her dreams at a lavish estate wearing god’s gift to wedding dresses only to find out that she’s unwittingly entered into a bizarre gaming ritual that might end up costing her life.

Universal’s new monster movie – said to be a film focusing on Dracula’s daughter – will star Scream's Melissa Barrera and is being directed by Radio Silence.
Just before the Hollywood strikes began to bite in May this year, we heard that Radio Silence would be pausing their collective involvement with the Scream franchise to take up the reins of a horror film for Universal. Then it emerged that Melissa Barrera (pictured), the face of the newer Scream movies, would be heading along for the ride too.
As it turned out, the directing trio would eventually leave the Scream franchise entirely and Barrera would follow, although not by choice. When co-star Jenna Ortega also walked away, the whole production hit the skids and is now facing a total ‘creative reset.’

'Eras Tour' Movie Set List: Surprise Songs Revealed, Multiple Songs Missing From Taylor Swift's Film
Taylor Swift is bringing her Eras Tour to movie theaters around the world and the set list is actually a bit different than what fans saw during the live show.
The 33-year-old singer has been performing for more than three hours throughout the tour, with some shows reaching 3.5 hours or more. The movie clocks in at just around two hours and 48 minutes, so some content had to be cut.
Taylor‘s speeches in between songs have been cut down by a little bit and the transition visuals in between eras are almost non-existent, but the biggest change is the missing songs.
So, what’s the set list for the movie?
Keep reading to find out more…
Lover Era
1. Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince
2. Cruel Summer
3. The Man
4. You Need to Calm Down
5. Lover
(“The Archer” has been cut from this era)
Fearless Era

In the wake of failing to recoup its budget with just $15 million worldwide at the box office, Universal’s The Last Voyage of the Demeter has now been surprise-released at home.
On Digital, you can rent the film for $19.99 or purchase it for $24.99.
Directed by André Øvredal (The Autopsy of Jane Doe, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark), this latest Dracula movie leaves the comedy of Renfield behind for a classic, Hammer-style horror movie at sea. The film is an adaptation of a single chapter from Bram Stoker’s classic horror novel, known as “The Captain’s Log,” which has never been adapted like this before.
The Last Voyage of the Demeter is unfortunately another financial misfire for the Universal Monsters, which have been largely unable to find box office success in recent years.

When nothing works, how to make things work? No filmmaker, nor trade pundits have ever been able to predict this. In fact, there have been many instances of some film critics who could not predict a film’s success after watching it! Let alone film critics, even distributors who rejected a film after seeing it, have been proved wrong. In those days, a film was open for all distributors to watch during various stages of its making or even when completed. Many a time, a film thus rejected went on to become a blockbuster.

Til Death Do Us Part is a fresh and frightening, genre-bending ride led by Natalie Burn as the Bride, Ser'Darius Blain as the Groom, Cam Gigandet, Jason Patric, D.Y. Sao, Pancho Moler, & Orlando Jones. Brimming with stylish violence & blood-soaked action, Til Death Do Us Part seamlessly blends the slick, kinetic thrills of John Wick with the dark, twisted revenge tale of Kill Bill. Sounds cool,...

It's become something of a cliché that, when in doubt, a studio or network simply needs to go the dark and gritty route in remaking an old IP and modernizing it for a new audience -- whether it fits the material or not. In decades past, old-school detective procedurals were all the rage on cable television. Oftentimes, these episodic and formula-driven shows kept the violence and gore entirely off-screen, instead focusing on the central private eye and his (it was always a "him") investigators as they sought to discover the truth and save the day for their innocent clients.
The original "Perry Mason" absolutely fell under that umbrella, airing on CBS back in the mid 1950s to the late 1960s and based on author Erle Stanley Gardner's detective novels (who was also a credited writer on the series many times). Led by actor Raymond Burr as the eponymous criminal defense lawyer,...

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan recalled his college days when he had no money to pay the taxi driver and got left him mid-way without paying the fare. However, after several years when he met him again, he paid the whole amount with interest.
Salman said: “We usually used to travel by train to college but sometimes, we felt like travelling comfortably, so one day I decided to take a taxi to my college. But, the fun part was, I did not have the money to pay for the taxi, so I stopped the driver a lane away from my college and told him that I would get the money from a place and give it to him, but I never returned.”
The 57-year-old actor has given several hits, from ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’, ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!’, ‘Hum Saath-Saath Hain’, ‘Karan Arjun’, ‘Biwi No 1’ to his action films including ‘Wanted...

Radio Silence, the filmmaking team that brought Ready or Not, Scream (2022), and Scream VI to the screen, has come on board a Universal Monsters project that was previously going by the title Dracula’s Daughter. Radio Silence members Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett will be directing the film, while the third member of the trio, Chad Villella, will be producing. Their Scream movie collaborators William Sherak, Paul Neinstein, and James Vanderbilt of Project X Entertainment will also be producing the monster movie alongside their Ready or Not producer Tripp Vinson. Stephen Shields wrote the initial screenplay for this take on Dracula’s Daughter, and Guy Busick (who co-wrote the two recent Scream movies with Vanderbilt) has since done some revisions. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project was said to center on a group of kidnappers who...

Paramount, the studio whose Scream VI is currently scaring up the box office, continues to bet on horror, picking up spec package He’ll Come Knocking.
Patrick Brice, who last directed the thriller There’s Someone Inside Your House, is on board to direct the feature project, which is written by Jordan Goldberg and Alex Paraskevas.
Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey’s Temple Hill Entertainment, which was behind the surprise horror hit Smile for the studio, is producing Knocking.
Adapting a story by author Robert McCammon, Knocking tells of an ex-con who gets a new job in a revitalized factory town in the hopes of turning around his family’s life, only to soon discover that their idyllic suburban dream requires a terrible sacrifice.
Sources describe the project as being in the tone of the fight-for-your-life survival aspects of such movies as Ready or Not, The Purge and Squid Game.

[Editor’s note: The following story contains spoilers for “Scream VI.”]
There’s nothing quite like the opening of “Scream” film, which have always delighted in introducing major stars and then viciously killing them off. While directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett put a twist on that formula for their 2022 “Scream,” in which Jenna Ortega’s Tara is the first one attacked (and then lives! only to go on to become the film’s heroine!), they went back to basics for their “Scream VI.”
This time around, they cast their “Ready or Not” star Samara Weaving as Laura, a film professor giddily waiting for a blind date at a swanky New York restaurant. The guy doesn’t show, but he does call, pretending to not know where the joint is while getting Laura to chat knowledgeably about slasher films and skillfully luring her outside and into an alley where she is, oops, promptly killed by a Ghostface-masked baddie (Tony Revolori...

Twice were the musical guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Thursday night. The K-pop girl group took over the studio stage with a performance of “Set Me Free,” a track from their new mini-album Ready To Be.
Before Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu were even visible, the audience was already erupting in screams and applause. The close quarters didn’t stop the idols from making a splash, and their complex choreography is impressive even on-camera; we can only imagine how it looks in person. Watch Twice perform “Set Me Free” on Fallon and stream Ready To Be below.
Twice will embark on their “Ready To Be” tour next month, performing 17 shows across 14 cities around the world. Marked as “Part 1” of the tour with future dates promised, the “Ready To Be” tour will begin in Seoul before they make their grand return to the...
