Actor Hugh Grant recently teamed up with Oscar-winner Kate Winslet for HBO’s limited series The Regime. At times, Winslet’s performance could be the scariest part of the show.

Grant had a few reasons to be nervous when working alongside Winslet on The Regime, as the actor portrayed a very intimidating character. The limited series saw her playing powerful dictator Chancellor Elena Vernham whose mental health led to the fracture of her country.
It was a much different character than Winslet played when she first worked with Grant. The two originally teamed up for the 1995 flick Sense and Sensibility. It would also see her team up with stars like Alan Rickman and Emma Thompson. Winslet looked forward to reuniting with Grant after three decades apart.

I'll never forget watching the series premiere of AMC's The Walking Dead with my family on Halloween night back in 2010 (the premiere aired directly after Zack Snyder's Dawn of the Dead remake), so it's hard to believe that nearly 13 years later, the entire series is coming out on Blu-ray and DVD from Lionsgate. Featuring 54 discs and a 42-minute making-of documentary, The Walking Dead: The Complete Collection will be released on October 17th, and we have a look at the full release details and cover art:

Actor Kate Winslet has played a variety of roles ranging from movies like Titanic to Little Children. But Triple 9 saw Winslet playing one of the worst characters she’s ever played.
Kate Winslet had trouble finding anything redeemable about her ‘Triple 9’ character Kate Winslet | Stefano Rellandini/Getty Images
Triple 9 was very different from the usual roles audiences were accustomed to seeing Winslet in. The film saw her playing a ruthless Russian mafia boss. The fact that the character was such a huge departure from Winslet’s usual characters was what first attracted her to the feature.
But Winslet admitted that the Russian mafia boss was one of the few film roles she had difficulty connecting to. Especially thanks to the character’s wardrobe, which couldn’t have been any more unflattering for the Oscar-winner.

According to a recent report from the Playlist, author Cormac McCarthy is currently in the midst of adapting his acclaimed and notoriously bleak 1985 novel "Blood Meridian; or, the Evening Redness in the West" into a screenplay for director John Hillcoat. Hillcoat was announced as the director of a "Blood Meridian" feature film in late April. The filmmaker also directed the 2009 McCarthy film adaptation "The Road" as well as the nihilistic Western "The Proposition" and the 2016 heist movie "Triple 9." McCarthy will not only write "Blood Meridian," but will serve as executive producer alongside his son, John Francis McCarthy.
McCarthy himself, the author of the celebrated novels "Suttree," "All the Pretty Horses," and "No Country for Old Men," has written several screenplays in his career, although only one -- the script for Ridley Scott's "The Counselor" -- has been produced to date. McCarthy wrote several unpublished screenplays for movies called "Cities of the Plain,...

Exclusive: Australian filmmaker John Hillcoat is set to helm Running Wild, an adaptation J.G. Ballard’s novella off a screenplay by David Leland.
CAA Media Finance will represent this film’s worldwide rights with Hillcoat producing with Jonathan Pavesi through Blank Films Inc.
The movie is set in an exclusive gated community in the desert on the outskirts of Los Angeles where thirty-two adults, all brilliant, successful professionals, who have built their homes with pride, are brutally murdered, and their children abducted with not so much as a trace. A Forensic Psychologist is enlisted to delve into the circumstances of this heinous crime. As their investigation continues and they dig deeper into the events, they soon runs into conflict with their superiors as their suspicions fall on a very different kind of community – a religious cult, invoking memories of the Branch Davidians and their charismatic leader, David Koresh.

Keith Redmon, the Oscar-nominated producer who was fired from Anonymous Content in 2021, is suing his former employer for breach of contract, claiming that he is owed “millions” in unpaid compensation and from a stake in “Schitt’s Creek.”
In a legal filing on Tuesday, Redmon also denies that he engaged in sexual misconduct, something that Anonymous publicly cited was the reason for his ouster. He claims that any relationships with Anonymous employees were consensual and took place more than a decade before he was fired from the company. He also says he was not in a leadership position at the time of those relationships.
Redmon, who is now a partner at Black Bear Pictures, says that his dismissal resulted from clashes with Anonymous’s new management following the 2019 death of its founder Steve Golin and the acquisition of a majority stake in the company by Emerson Collective, a limited liability...

Selena Gomez and Chris Martin prove how hard it is to say goodbye in the emotional, Inception-like music video for “Let Somebody Go,” released Monday.

The Colombian artist Camilo got the audience dancing with him during his quirky Latin Grammys performance, where he sang his recent hits “Vida De Rico” and “Kesi.” His performance was introduced by his pregnant wife Evaluna Montaner and his father-in-law Ricardo Montaner, who said he was happy to announce that he’ll be a “grandfather for a fifth time.”
Camilo, who is the most-nominated artist of the night, opened his set with the cumbia-infused “Vida De Rico,” singing inside a black-and-white room with the word “soñar,” or “dream,” behind him.

Norman Reedus is a made man having spent the last decade playing Daryl Dixon on The Walking Dead, making him one of the most popular and highest-paid actors on television. However, the 51 year-old’s big screen career has never reached those same heights, and his rare forays into the world of feature film generally come in projects that fly under the radar.
One of his most high profile cinematic roles in recent years was as part of the impressive ensemble brought together for John Hillcoat’s Triple 9, although the heist thriller ended up bombing at the box office after earning just over $25 million on a $20 million budget. This came as a huge surprise given that star-studded entries in the crime genre usually tend to play pretty well with audiences and Reedus was joined by Casey Affleck, Chiwitel Ejiofor, Anthony Mackie, Aaron Paul, Gal Gadot, Woody Harrelson and Kate Winslet,...

This weekend will see a flurry of activity, beginning with a battle at the top for #1 between Maleficent: Mistress of Evil and Joker. Might the Clown Prince of Crime spoil Maleficent's hopes for a second weekend at #1? Back in 2016, it was reported at the Cannes Film Festival that a remake of 1968's Witchfinder General was in the works with Nicolas Winding Refn (The Neon Demon) producing. Now, several years later at Cannes, the director for the remake has been revealed.
Deadline reports that John Hillcoat is on board to direct the Witchfinder General remake. A cast has yet to be assembled, but production is being planned to begin as early as this year.
Hillcoat will direct from a screenplay by Jon Croker (The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death), with Bynwr.com's Refn and Rupert Preston producing alongside Hillcoat’s Blank Films.
Here's what Refn had to say (via Deadline) about Hillcoat directing the remake:
"It is with extreme pleasure that both Rupert and I can incorporate John Hillcoat into our group as director for our production of Witchfinder General. It gives me enormous satisfaction to...

Aaron Paul has joined the cast of “Westworld” for the HBO’s third season, Variety has confirmed.
The exact nature of Paul’s role is being kept under wraps, but it is believed he will be a series regular on the show. Paul is also currently shooting the Apple drama “Are You Sleeping,” in which he will star opposite Octavia Spencer and Lizzy Kaplan.
Paul also recently starred in the Hulu drama “The Path,” but is best known for the role of Jesse Pinkman on the critically-acclaimed AMC series “Breaking Bad.” He receieved four Emmy nominations for his time on that show, winning three. His other credits include films like “Triple 9,” “Eye in the Sky,” “Long Way Down,” “The Need for Speed,” and “Come Find Me.”
Paul is repped by UTA.

Science, bitch! Deadline reports that Aaron Paul is joining the cast of “Westworld” for its upcoming third season, marking the three-time Emmy winner’s return to prestige television after his roles in “Breaking Bad” and “The Path.” No word yet on who the former Jesse Pinkman will be playing, but speculation is sure to abound — especially as “Westworld,” even more than most shows, thrives on encouraging audiences to spend as much time figuring out what might happen next as they do actually watching it.
All three of Paul’s Emmy wins came for his lauded performance opposite Bryan Cranston on “Breaking Bad,” which aired five seasons from 2008–2013 and has become one of the most revered television series of all time; in addition to starring on all three seasons of Hulu’s cult drama “The Path,” he voices Todd Chavez on Netflix’s “BoJack Horseman.” Paul’s silver-screen career includes roles...

With Lionsgate releasing The Walking Dead Season 8 on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital beginning August 21st, we've been provided with an exclusive bonus feature clip that goes behind the scenes of Eric and Aaron's emotional (and heart-wrenching) scene.

Exclusive: Norman Reedus will be taking the stage at Comic-Con today with his compatriots from The Walking Dead, but the actor will also be taking it to the big screen with STXfilms in the not so distant future.
Reedus and the Adam Fogelson-run division of Stx Entertainment have inked a deal to develop a genre feature for the Ride host to both star in and produce, I’ve learned.
Much like the agreements that STXfilms put together with Jason Statham and Guardians of the Galaxy’s David Bautista earlier this year and late last year respectively, the project will be specifically tailored to play to Reedus’ established and not inconsiderable audience of Twd viewers and beyond.
“Norman has steadily built up a devoted fan following across movies and television with memorable performances,” STXfilms chairman Fogelson told me of the project. “Stx is thrilled to collaborate with Norman on this...

MaryAnn’s quick take… This is scorched-earth cinema that challenges us to find moments of grace and triumph among misery, cruelty, and emotional frugality. Maxine Peake is absolutely incendiary. I’m “biast” (pro): I’m desperate for movies about women
I’m “biast” (con): nothing
(what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto) women’s participation in this film
(learn more about this)
There are movies — rare as they are — about women who do not compromise and make no apologies. And then there’s Funny Cow, as blistering and caustic a film about a no-bullshit woman clawing her way through a man’s world as I’ve ever seen.
This faux biopic of an unnamed (fictional) famous stand-up comic (Maxine Peake) “presumes” that the audience is already aware of who she is, and so it’s not about her work; this is most definitely not a comedy.

Take another look at "Wonder Woman" actress Gal Gadot in "Glamour" (Spain) magazine:
Gadot is noted for her role as 'Wonder Woman' in the 'DC Extended Universe', starting with "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" (2016), continuing as the lead in "Wonder Woman" (2017), and in the first part of the "Justice League" films.
At the age of 20, Gadot carried out two years of service as an enlisted soldier in the 'Israel Defense Forces', serving as a combat instructor. She says of her time as a soldier: "You give two or three years, and it's not about you. You learn discipline and respect".
A casting director called to audition her for the part of 'Bond' girl 'Camille Montes' in "Quantum of Solace". She lost the part to Olga Kurylenko, but the same casting director hired Gadot for 'Gisele' in "Fast & Furious", with Gadot performing her own stunts.

Gerard Butler and 50 Cent in a film by the screenwriter of London Has Fallen might sound like a match made in straight-to-dvd heaven, but there’s more going on in Den Of Thieves than guns and machismo. Black Mirror, Charlie Brooker’s super-stylish and eerily prescient anthology series, is fast approaching its fourth season on the airwaves, and we can hardly wait.
Comprised of six episodes in total – six dark new realities – Brooker’s satirical hit is expected to return sometime before the year’s end, at which point we expect to be nursing a crippling case of techno-paranoia. Until that day arrives, though, Netflix (via Collider) has delivered the next best thing: two action shots for Black Mirror season 4, and they come from the future.
The first, which is lifted from the Jodie Foster-directed “Arkangel,” finds Rosemarie Dewitt supervising what appears to be some form of cerebral experiment. Lean a little closer and you’ll notice that the young girl is staring into a nearby monitor, so perhaps the device hovering close to her skull is able to monitor brainwaves? Whatever the outcome, we imagine...

Detroit is a movie about racism in America for white people. It mostly does not center black characters except as victims. Its villain — a murderously racist white cop — is also its protagonist. A movie about racism in America for white people isn’t the most terrible idea ever: Detroit wants to show us white people how the systematic weight of endless injustice weighs on black people, psychologically as well as physically, because of entrenched racism, not only of the actively vicious kind but also of the “I’m not getting involved, I’m just minding my own business” kind.

Six new realities await.
Netflix has today unveiled the freaky first teaser for Black Mirror season 4, along with the stellar cast list and official episode titles. In keeping with the show’s knack for puzzles and confounding, reality-altering mystery, the trailer above is a super-sleek and fairly ominous peek at those “six new stories,” all of which come from the mind of series creator and showrunner, Charlie Brooker.
Remaining behind the scenes for the time being, today also brings confirmation that Jodie Foster directed season 4’s pilot episode, “Arkangel,” with Toby Haynes (Sherlock), John Hillcoat (Triple 9) and David Slade (Hannibal) also receiving credits. Casting-wise, Black Mirror has added the likes of Jesse Plemons (Fargo), Jimmi Simpson (Westworld) and Rosemarie Dewitt (La La Land) to its ranks, and the first-look teaser shows Netflix’s dark, prescient anthology series venturing into full-blown sci-fi territory. One would assume that Star Trek-esque...
