Your usual no budget slacker comedy

NIGHT OF THE ALIEN is your typical slacker comedy, made on a low budget but with plenty of energy to see it through. Whether you like it or not depends on your taste for this kind of material, but being an old-fashioned fuddy duddy, I'm afraid to say that I didn't care for it at all. It's a lame road trip in which various assorted weirdo characters travel around in a minibus and meet even weirder folk, and there's some bizarre overarching conspiracy plot that doesn't even begin to feel realistic. It's not the worst film I've seen, but it is a chore to sit through.

Amusing road-trip, character-driven, quirky outing. Not action-packed sci fi.

I like quirky fillums; too quirky for many other viewers. Repo Man (Alex Cox) is my fave fillum of all time. And I think Rubber is superb.

Night Of The Alien is indeed a low-budget offering but very well played imo and not as cheesy as it could be like, say, Hell Comes To Frogtown or Slave Girls From Beyond Infinity.

It's almost like Little Miss Sunshine with drugs and an alien guest star.

But it does lack pace and any major action. It's laid-back, like many of the characters.

I think the characters are mostly attractive and likeable and it has a stonking soundtrack.
