A ‘market with a view’ is how Nem Dubrovnik pitches itself. In a literal sense, the view is of the Adriatic Sea, but in a business sense, the ambition is to create a relaxed setting for execs to meet and do deals, a marked switch-up from the hubbub of many TV markets.
Launching in 2013, Nem Dubrovnik has carved out its calendar moment in June. Over a decade, it has established itself as a key buying and selling confab for the Cee region and beyond, with all of the notable buyers in attendance. The market organizers will grow the space for distributors by 40% this year.
Amazon MGM, Disney, Idtv and Lionsgate will have screenings or showcases. Beta Film, Newen Studios, Rai, and Warner Bros. Discovery are among the big European and international players that will be selling programming at Nem.
The Cee region remains a huge buyer of telenovelas and Turkish drama.

It’s been over 10 years since Speedy Ortiz shared their debut album, Major Arcana. Now, the beloved indie quartet is paying homage to the record with a 10th anniversary reissue featuring remastered versions of the songs, due out on November 17th. Listen to the first preview — a remastered version of “Tiger Tank” — below.
Major Arcana became an indie hit when it dropped in 2013, with Consequence’s Katherine Flynn writing at the time that Speedy Ortiz had masterfully utilized older sounds and styles, while still offering something entirely new and compellingly raw. “This is the real deal, ripped from notebook pages, the torn, frilly edges still hanging on,” Flynn wrote.
For her part, Speedy Ortiz’s Sadie Dupuis explained that the album is teeming with the energy of the band’s early, DIY days. “Speedy made Major Arcana in a flash of momentum — four days of recording at Sonelab with our pal Justin Pizzoferrato,...

Bravo’s first season of the revamped “Cash Cab” took its mid-season break last fall, before a pandemic took over the world and quarantined millions in their homes, away from friends, family, jobs and, yes, cabs — even “the only one that pays you.” Longtime host Ben Bailey is optimistic that Wednesday’s premiere will offer a little “relaxation.”
“There’s a lot of underlying tension right now that everybody’s dealing with,” he told TheWrap by phone last week, “with bad news and difficult situations all over the place. I’ve always felt like — and this is true for my standup as well — entertainment is supposed to be entertainment. It’s an escape from stuff, you know? It’s supposed to make you feel good, leave you feeling happy, give you a break from the stuff that stresses you out and the parts of your life that suck at the moment.

The week of March 9 — when the coronavirus was officially declared a pandemic, and Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson shared the news that they had tested positive for Covid-19 — a cascade of television shows and movies shut their productions down for safety reasons. From “Stranger Things” to “The Batman,” these shutterings are temporary, and sets will be up and running as soon as it’s safe to go back into production — though no one knows when that might be. All told, the pipeline for scripted television and movies for later this year and into 2021 has been decimated. The broadcast networks, unable to shoot any pilots for the 2020-21 TV season, are in uncharted territory. And unless the coronavirus curve flattens soon, the broadcasters, which schedule hours and hours of reality television in the summer, will have to rely almost entirely on repeats.

Bravo is reviving “Cash Cab,” bringing it back on air after Discovery Channel’s own revival of the series ended last year.
Ben Bailey will return to host the new version of the game show, in which unsuspecting cab riders have the length of a ride to answer trivia questions for the chance to win big money. Bailey was the host during the show’s original run on Discovery Channel from 2005 to 2012.
“Cash Cab” was recently revived at Discovery in 2017, with an added twist — cab riders would be ambushed by “America’s favorite celebrities.” It ran for two more seasons until it came to an end last October.

“Cash Cab” just keeps on coming back.
The game show, which originally aired on Discovery from 2005 to 2012 and was resurrected again for a two-year run in 2017, is now being resurrected once more, this time by Bravo. The NBCU owned network has announced that comedian Ben Bailey will also be returning to host the show’s newest iteration.
In “Cash Cab,” New Yorkers and tourists to the Big Apple get the chance to test their knowledge and win money in the iconic Cash Cab. The Bravo version will feature an upgraded car and more questions focused towards pop culture lovers. Each episode will feature three games, and much like the original series it will all start the second the contestant enters the Cash Cab. If the passenger can answer enough questions correctly before making it to their destination, they’ll win big bucks. However, three wrong answers and they’re kicked...

At times it may have felt like late-night talk shows were completely dominated by political talk this year, from biting commentary by way of “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver” and “The Daily Show with Trevor Noah.” However, quite a few shows did what they could to keep it light — and perhaps go viral for their takes on pop culture instead. Think: the three-way call between Conan O’Brien, Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Fallon, as well as Paul McCartney’s appearance on “Carpool Karaoke.” With such varied bits, late-night provided a lot of distractions for the craziness of daily life.
Here, Variety breaks down the most memorable moments in late-night for 2018:
“Conan”
TBS announced in May that O’Brien’s hour-long late-night show would be reduced to 30 minutes in January and signal the departure of O’Brien’s long-time band, Jimmy Vivino & The Basic Cable Band. In the last...

The Hollywood Reporter brought us the good news this week that Cash Cab has been picked up by the Discovery Channel and will be back on our screens this July! This is such great news, as Cash Cab is such a fun and original show. Ben Bailey returns as the show host, who drives around the streets of New York City, as a mini-van Taxi cab driver, picking up pedestrians looking for a ride. When they hop in and state their destination, a fun blast of music starts to play, along with flashing lights, and Bailey exclaims that they are on the show Cash Cab! They are given trivia questions worth escalating amounts, which they have to answer before the time is up. If they answer three questions incorrectly, their ride is up and they must get out (at least they got that far for free!), but if they get...
