"Die Hüttenwirtin" is a 90-minute television production from 5 years ago. The film is directed by prolific television (lots of "Polizeiruf 110") filmmaker Thomas Jacob, although he has not been active in the last 5 years. He has worked since 1972, so maybe he is retired now 20 years later. The script is from Maximilian Krückl, also experienced in writing movies. Same goes for lead actress Christina Plate in terms of performing. However, all these factors do not amount in a quality film here. It's just another cheesy love story with very few comedic scenes that work. Maybe the most interesting parts about it were the conflicts and the family feud with the protagonist's (or I shall say her dead father's) rival. He was played by August Schmölzer, one of really not many talented actors in the cast. I was not surprised to see "Schindler's List" and "Der Untergang" in his body of work. The negative opposite to Schmölzer was Effi Eschke. Horrible performance and the character was not written well at all either. Can't say I am surprised that she has not acted a whole lot in the last five years.

Jan Sosniok plays the love interest to the female protagonist and if you know Sosniok, you know that he is not somebody with great range, but more known for schmaltz and (negative) screwball comedy. And why do females in these kind of films always have to have another partner before they find the right one? And the other partner is always depicted almost exclusively in a negative manner, so why are they even together? The mountain landscapes are nice to watch, but nothing about the story is really memorable. Also in my personal perception, I found the female lead character neither likable nor attractive. Weak movie, all very predictable and unrealistic (her 180° transformation). Not recommended.
