It looks like another Chuck Palahniuk novel is headed to the big screen, but this time the acclaimed author will be doing the adapting himself. According to Ain’t It Cool News, Palahniuk will co-write an adaptation of his 2002 novel Lullaby. This puts Palahniuk in a new club of authors-turned-screenwriters, as he joins scribes like Gillian Flynn and J.K. Rowling, who adapted their respective works Gone Girl and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them for the silver screen.
An adaptation of Lullaby has been in the works for a few years now, and once had a director named Rolf Johansson attached. The last we heard about that particular attempt was six years ago though, so it’s safe to assume that that particular project has been dropped in favor of this new direction.
Lullaby may just be my favorite novel of Palahniuk’s, so I’m excited to hear that it’s getting adapted.

If it weren’t for Fight Club — and, yes, that’s one big “if” — it’d be hard to deny that Chuck Palahniuk and film don’t exactly mix. Discounting one other film — the slightly funny but, really, blander-than-you’d-hope Sam Rockwell-starrer, Choke — all other adaptations have sputtered out before things could actually get going. Francis Lawrence had Survivor, but the story proved too alienating for audiences; Invisible Monsters has been optioned, but we have no idea where that’s gone in about a year; and a cast was even assembled for Snuff, but… you get the idea.
Yet there is hope for the lattermost, as Variety says Immortal Transmedia — who were, most prolifically, involved with Kick-Ass and Harmony Korine‘s Mister Lonely — Aperture Entertainment, and co-writer Golan Ramras are all producing a revived version of the film. Like Fight Club and Choke, it looks as though Chuck Palahniuk’s 2011 novel, Snuff, will be getting film treatment. According to Cinemablend, the project has just found financing and will continue along the road to production. Jean Pierre Magro and Dean O’Toole of Kick-Ass production fame will back the film. David Fincher's unhinged and inspired adaptation of Chuck Palahniuk's mind-bending novel Fight Club thrust the transgressive author onto the world's main stage. Since then, he's continued churning out books that center on outsiders and offer troubling insights into modern America as well as some passages so grisly they've caused people to pass out at public readings. With this kind of gritty cool impact, Palahniuk's other works have often been rumored to be on their way to movie adaptations of their own, yet only Choke, adapted and directed by The Avenger's Clark Gregg, has made it to production. But now, Variety reports an adaptation of Palahniuk's porn-centric novel Snuff has found financing. Jeane Pierre Magro and Dean O'Toole of Immortal Transmedia, who've produced Matthew Vaughn's Kick-Ass and Harmony Korine's Mister Lonely, will back the film which will center on three men in a line of 600 who are...

Fabien Martorell's Snuff adaptation is moving forward after receiving funding from Immortal Transmedia. The Tromatized: Meet Lloyd Kaufman writer will bring Chuck Palahniuk's novel to the big screen based on a script he penned with Golan Ramras, Variety reports. Snuff follows a porn star named Cassie Wright who is on a mission to break the world record for serial fornication on camera by having sex with 600 men. The story is told from the perspectives of Mr. 72, Mr. 137 and Mr. 600 as they wait in line. Daryl Hannah has been linked with the lead role of Wright, with (more)...

While "Fight Club" will probably always be the high bar never to be reached again for adaptations of Chuck Palahniuk's work on the big screen, filmmakers will keep trying. "Choke" came and went and was mostly a disappointment, but "Snuff" should be an interesting gamble. The author's book about an aging porn star who decides to cap off her career by having sex with 600 men in one day, with the story told through the eyes of three men who are lining up to do the deed with her, should be challenging to say the least. And while we never thought financing would come through for a project that presumably has a very niche appeal, money is coming.

French helmer Fabien Martorell is set to adapt and direct Snuff written by NY Times Best seller/cult sensation Chuck Palahniuk.
Martorell will direct the script that he co-wrote with Golan Ramras. Producers Jean Pierre Magro and Dean O’Toole will finance and produce through their London-based Immortal Transmedia along with Ramras, Martorell and Aperture Entertainment's Adam Goldworm.
Snuff is described as "an R-rated story of love and redemption set in the green room of the world's biggest gang bang; porn priestess Cassie Wright intends to cap her legendary career by breaking the world record for serial fornication on camera with 600 men. Snuff unfolds from the perspectives of Mr. 72, Mr. 137, and Mr. 600, who await their turn on camera and are each connected to Cassie in strange ways. Like in all of Palahniuk's twisted tales, nobody is who they seem to be and things are going to get worse before they get better.

There was a time when any announcement about a Chuck Palahniuk book being adapted for the big screen might have seemed exciting, but 12 years after the release of Fight Club, I'm starting to think that some of the luster has worn off. I was a fan of Chucky P.'s earlier work, but somehow it seems that the more he branches out and experiments with his writing, the more his edginess is beginning to feel forced. After Clark Gregg turned in a serviceable yet ultimately bland version of Choke, it reinforced the fact that without someone like David Fincher at the helm, his books do not automatically become cinematic masterpieces. Now Palahniuk's third book Invisible Monsters is about to make the jump to the screen, and the man who will make it happen is TV director Samir Rehem (Degrassi: The Next Generation, Skins). Yay? Invisible Monsters was Palahniuk's third published book,...

There's almost always a Chuck Palahniuk adaptation in the works somewhere at some point, with the most recent being Snuff getting cast. But now IFC.com is reporting that there's a big update on an upcoming adaptation of Invisible Monsters, specifically that the project has finally found a director named Samir Rehem. He's a Canadian director mostly known for Made... The Movie and work on "Degrassi: The Next Generation" and MTV's "Skins", so let's hope he steps up his game. The challenge is in adapting, because it's about Shannon, an ex-model who is missing her lower jaw, and her transsexual friend. Bring it on, Rehem! IFC reports that this update came straight from the producer on Invisible Monsters, named Cameron MacLaren, whose choice of director, they imply, was a hint at the direction they're going. "Fresh-faced high-schoolers they are not, but the characters of Invisible Monsters could benefit from the...

Despite having written many stories that seem to lend themselves to films, Chuck Palahniuk has only had two of his novels successfully adapted to the medium. The first of those is easily the most famous, that being David Fincher‘s Fight Club. Widely regarded as one of the best films of the 90s, it’s lived on to today through its smart script, but particularly Brad Pitt‘s iconic portrayal of Tyler Durden. (Who, ironically enough, is the cause of so, so many people misunderstanding the entire work.)
The other is Choke, directed by character actor Clark Gregg. Even though it boasts a fun performance from Sam Rockwell, it’s a mostly forgettable sex comedy, although at least has some nice moments throughout. Other takes on the guy’s material have been attempted, with a cast already having been assembled for Snuff, but how that can be properly told in...

Several recent stories, two of which are based on quotes from filmmakers, have been shot down it seems.
Yesterday "I Am Number Four" director DJ Caruso told The Playlist about his planned adaptation of the novel "Beat the Reaper" with Fox and Appian Way and hoped Leonardo DiCaprio would appear in the film. /Film now reports that "there is no directorial or development deal in place... for now that one isn’t happening. It could…but not yet."
Talk emerged yesterday at Comic Book Movie that Joseph Gordon-Levitt's role in the upcoming "The Dark Knight Rises" was that of Alberto Falcone, aka Holiday. Turns out that site jumped the gun, taking a speculative tweet from an IGN writer out of context, Cbm has since pulled the article (thanks to Batman on Film for help on that one).

There's been a lot of jumping the gun lately when it comes to casting announcements, and, surprisingly, most of it has been from directors and producers rather than press. So here's an attempt to quickly set the story straight on several diverse projects: David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis, the adaptation of Chuck Palahniuk's novel Snuff, and Beat the Reaper. First up is Cosmopolis. Colin Farrell and Marion Cotillard were originally attached, but he left to do Total Recall (replaced with Robert Pattinson) and she left to have a baby. There was word that Keira Knightley might be the new lead actress, bolstered by the fact that the French financing company put her name in a cast list on their website. (Doesn't hurt that Ms. Knightley is also in David Cronenberg's A Dangerous Method, now in post-production.) But whatever was happening there is no longer happening, as Up and Comers...

Daryl Hannah is upset that an explosion of web reports have her starring as an aging porn star who tries to break a record by having sex with 600 men in a single day. The reports say she will star in Snuff, a Fabien Martorell adaptation a novel by Fight Club author Chuck Palahniuk. According to her reps, Hannah has never heard of the project; an outspoken advocate who speaks out against the sex trafficking of children, she is embarrassed by this and has no plans to take part, I'm told.

Chuck Palahniuk, author of Fight Club, is having another of his stories, Snuff, adapted for the screen. Fabien Martorell is set to direct this story of a porn star (Cassie Wright) who decides to film a 600-person strong gang bang before retiring. Daryl Hannah, who was plucked from relative obscurity by Tarantino for Kill Bill before retreating once again into the wilderness, will play Cassie Wright.
The story is told from the point of view of three of the men in line to participate in Cassie’s swan-song, each of whom are identified only by their numbers, Mr 72, Mr 137 and Mr 600. Some books seem like a natural fit for a movie adaptation. Chuck Palahniuk’s Snuff is not one of those books. A kind of thriller set in the porn world, Snuff follows an aging porn star’s quest to break the world record for onscreen fornication — with 600 men. Most of the characters are naked for the majority of the book, and the final orgy sequence makes Caligula look like, well, something much less disturbing than Caligula. But according to Chuck Palahniuk’s official website, the Snuff movie is happening. Personally, I’m a little bit intrigued to see just what,...

David Fincher's Fight Club catapulted Chuck Palahniuk to fame, and since then very few of his books have been published without also getting optioned as a possible film adaptation. Strangely, only one other Palahniuk book has actually made it to the big screen thus far, and Clark Gregg's middling take on Choke proved that the success of Fight Club was due to a lot more than just the source material. While Survivor [1], Haunted [2] and Invisible Monsters all appear to be stuck in development hell, we are now starting to see some movement on one of Palahniuk's more recent novels, Snuff. A director is attached, a script has been written, and now a number of actors have signed on including Darryl Hannah, Thora Birch, and Tom Sizemore. Yes, that's right... Tom Sizemore. Ballard's novel Concrete Island. Here's how Anderson describes the project to Edward Douglas of Shock Till You Drop: "The best way to describe it is it's like an urban Robinson Crusoe story - a guy crashes a car into a highway interchange and is marooned in this weedy lot, injured, and can't escape and he's basically trying to survive in the middle of the big urban Metropolis. It's sort of a crazy, cool Ballard-esque type story, but Christian's on board to do that when we can fit it into his schedule, of course." Perhaps the most unlikely book adaptation in development right now – Fight Club author Chuck Palahniuk has just announced on his blog that Daryl Hannah is to star in a big screen version of his novel Snuff, where the Kill Bill actress would play aging porn star Cassie Wright who wants to retire breaking porn records by filming herself having sex with 600 men in one day!
The film is told via the p.o.v. of three specific men who are to nail her, including Tom Sizemore as ‘Mr. 600′ who got Hannah’s pornstar into the business and is the last to do the deed with her. Thora Birch, perhaps not coincidentally the daughter of a porn star, supports as her talent agent who must get all the 600 men organised and rounded-up.

Daryl Hannah, Tom Sizemore, and Thora Birch have all signed on for the adaptation of Chuck Palahniuk's 2008 novel "Snuff" reports ChuckPalahniuk.net.
The story centers on an aging porn star, Cassie Wright (Daryl Hannah), who tries to set the record for the biggest gang-bang in history by screwing six hundred men on camera in one day.
Despite the subject matter, there's little actual sex in the book as it focuses on three men bonding through their future sexual conquest. Things get more twisted as a few claim she is their misplaced mother yet still plan to have sex with her.
Sizemore will play Mr. 600, the man who introduced Cassie to the industry, while Birch will play Cassie's personal assistant. French filmmaker Fabien Martorell will direct from a script he is co-writing with Karina Wilson.

Here’s some mighty interesting news, a new adaptation of Chuck Palahniuk’s novel Snuff is in the works and it has scored itself three cast members. Fabien Martorell the director sent word to Palahniuk’s official site about the casting news.
To set the scene here is the synopsis for Snuff (Amazon): Cassie Wright, porn priestess, intends to cap her legendary career by breaking the world record for serial fornication porn movies, on camera, with six hundred men. Snuff unfolds through the perspectives of Mr. 600, Mr. 72, Mr. 137, and Wright’s personal assistant, Sheila. With his satirical narrative and thorough research, Chuck Palahniuk reveals through these four characters the little-known facts and histories of not only pornography and sexual deviance, but also acting and life in and out of the spotlight, and throughout the novel shows the rarely acknowledged presence of pornography in modern America.

I am a huge fan of Fight Club and Choke, both adapted from Chuck Palahniuk novels. His novels are really messed up, but that’s exactly what I love about them.
Thora Birch, Tom Sizemore, and Darryl Hannah have reportedly all signed on to star in the feature adaptation of Chuck Palahniuk’s 2008 novel Snuff, co-written and directed by Fabien Martorell.

I’ve read Chuck Palahniuk’s Snuff. It is a deliriously f*cked up novel that follows a porn star who organizes the world’s largest gangbang to break the ultimate record for most sexual partners in one film. The entire time I was reading it, I was imagining how a film adaptation would be simply impossible, unless you strip away every raunchy element, in which case you would be left with almost nothing. The climax (no pun intended) of the film alone is enough to warrant at least an X rating.
We’ve seen Palahniuk’s work adapted before with Fight Club and Choke. Even Haunted, Invisible Monsters, Survivor, Rant, Diary, and Lullaby have been rumored to get the bigscreen treatment, but never would I have imagined Snuff. It looks like it is happening though, as chuckpalahniuk.net (via /Film) report casting.

While authors often see their work absolutely decimated and destroyed by the Hollywood machine, Chuck Palahniuk continues to have a perfect batting average. Albeit only two of his novels have been adapted, Fight Club and Choke, both are seen as solid representations of Palahniuk's work (even if they do tweak a few things here or there). Risking his perfect score, a third movie is now in development based on his 2008 novel Snuff, and now the adaptation has landed its first three cast members. Palahniuk's official site, ChuckPalahniuk.net, has revealed that Tom Sizemore, Daryl Hannah and Thora Birch are all officially attached to the project, which is being directed and co-written by Fabien Martorell. Set to be filmed as a "closed door set" (a la 12 Angry Men or Rope), the story centers on three men in a crowded basement who are awaiting their chance to have sex with aging porn...

Good lord, does Snuff sound horrifying. Fabien Martorell is co-writing (with Karina Wilson) and directing an adaptation of Chuck Palahniuk's novel about a faded porn star who sets up a giant gang bang in order to break the record for sexual partners in one film, and three of the men that are possible partners. Now the film has a cast: Thora Birch, Daryl Hannah, and, as one of the guys in line to, uh, appear in the film, we've got Tom Sizemore. Yeah, you read that right. The director talked to chuckpalahniuk.net [1] and offered up the casting news. Daryl Hannah will play the porn star, Cassie Wright, while Thora Birch will play her assistant/manwrangler Shiela. And Tom Sizemore, who has his own experiences with the porn industry, will be Mr. 600 -- that is, the last of the 600 guys in line to get it on with Cassie. The...

Chuck Palahniuk's novels are notoriously resistant to film adaptation. The awesome Fight Club's only companion so far is Choke, which received a lukewarm reception a couple of years ago. Haunted, Invisible Monsters, Survivor, Rant, Diary and Lullaby all remain in development hell, but Snuff has just escaped, with the help of Daryl Hannah, Tom Sizemore and Thora Birch.Hannah will play Cassie Wright, an almost washed-up porn star embarking on a world-record attempt to screw 600 guys in a single film (the novel is loosely inspired by Sex: The Annabel Chong Story, although Chong "only" managed 72 guys in her marathon session). Birch will play Sheila, Wright's personal assistant. And Sizemore is Mr 600, one of three men in the queue that the novel focuses on: the others being 72 and 137.The plot involves both the mystery of Wright's year-long hiatus from the porn industry and her reasons for returning, and the...

So far, Chuck Palahniuk's work on the big screen has been a mixed bag. Obviously, David Fincher's "Fight Club" was great while "Choke" was, well, not so much. Anyway, an adaptation of his novel "Snuff" is brewing and it has attracted an uh, eclectic, cast. According to the author's blog (via AICN) Daryl Hannah, Tom Sizemore and Thora Birch have all signed on for the film. "Snuff" tells the story of an aging porn star who decides to cap off her career by having sex with 600 men in one day and story is told through the eyes of three…...

It’s been some time since we heard anything regarding French filmmaker Fabien Martorell’s movie adaptation of Chuck Palahniuck’s novel Snuff, however Martorell has recently updated Palahniuck fansite-come-official-site The Cult with some rather interesting casting news…
Martorell has cast Daryl Hannah as Cassie Wright, the ageing porn queen intent on gang-banging 600 men in a day, Tom Sizemore as Mr. 600 – the last man to have sex with Cassie Wright and the narrator of the story, and Thora Birch as Sheila, one of the “talent-herders” on the film-within-a-book’s set.
Martorell is co-writing the script with Karina Wilson, his assistant director on the excellent documentary Tromatized, and sees the film as:
…a suspense/thriller sets in the gritty world of adult entertainment. Fabien Martorell would like to shoot Snuff as a single “closed door” set. The use of flashbacks will aide in the communication of character history, and help sustain a dramatic rhythm.

Daryl Hannah And Tom Sizemore To Star In Snuff
If I say the name Chuck Palahniuk, many people will give me a blank stare. If I say the name Fight Club, I'll probably get a better reaction. Mr. Palahniuk is the man behind Fight Club, after all, the film was based on his novel of the same name. Chuck had another one of his novels turned into a film a few years back, Choke, starring Sam Rockwell. While not as good as Fight Club, it was still a film worth seeing. Now we have another film coming to us that will be based on a novel by Palahniuk. The film is called Snuff, based on the novel of the same name and will star Daryl Hannah and Tom Sizemore.

Author Chuck Palahniuk (Fight Club) has just posted on his blog that the first three pieces of casting for the adaptation of his book, Snuff, are; Daryl Hannah (Kill Bill), Tom Sizemore (Saving Private Ryan) and Thora Birch (Ghost World). Hannah will play an aging porn star who decides to hold the mother of all record attempts; lay 600 dudes in the world's largest, er, group...sex...event. If you've read the book, which I have, then you'll know how absolutely sleazy, grimy, sweaty and altogether filthy the material is, so it'll be interesting to see how it crosses over into mainstream cinema. It'll be directed by Fabien Martorell, who, from his IMDb page, has only done a documentary for Troma Studios (which, given the subject matter of Snuff, doesn't surprise me at all). But if I'm being honest, the book is cool and any friend of Troma is a friend of mine,...

After first seeing the indie adaptation of Choke with Sam Rockwell, we got on a Chuck Palahniuk frenzy a few years back, covering stories on various adaptations like Survivor or Lullaby, that still haven't taken off. However, it looks like another Palahniuk film is finally coming together, as a report on the author's website (via AICN) says the director of the adaptation, French filmmaker Fabien Martorell, provided them with details on casting. Daryl Hannah has been cast as Cassie Wright, the aging porn queen intent on banging 600 men in one day, and will be joining Tom Sizemore and Thora Birch (Ghost World, Terror Train). If you're not familiar with author Chuck Palahniuk, he's got a very raunchy style and it makes sense that Snuff is an indie adaptation. "Snuff is a suspense/thriller sets in the gritty world of adult entertainment." The story, which isn't all just about porn (right?...

Chuck Palahniuk has revealed through his blog (via AICN ) that the first three cast members of Snuff have been named and include Daryl Hannah, Tom Sizemore and Thora Birch. Palahniuk's novels were the basis for Fight Club and Choke . "Snuff," published in 2009, is described on his site as follows: From the vantage point of three men waiting in line to be three of the 600 men Cassie Wright plans on having sex with on camera to break a world record, Snuff is not for the shy and reserved. Number 600 is the man who introduced Cassie to the industry and the man who introduces us to the rest of the men waiting in line. Number 72 is not only one of the youngest ones there--20 something years old--but he is one of the too many men claiming to be Cassie's son. The...
