Having returned from a holiday in Turkey, Cenk is straight back to work; this time he is to go undercover with a gang that has been performing illegal organ transplants. He is shocked when he is asked to take a girl, Amelie, from a remote farm to a location in Hamburg. Is told to drug her for the journey but doesn't and she causes the car to crash and escapes. He tells the traffickers that he crashed after being chased by the police and they now have the girl. Inevitably the traffickers are furious as they wanted to take one of her kidneys to transplant into the daughter of wealthy parents. Cenk tells them that he has a friend in the police so they should be able to get her back. While Cenk searches for her we learn more about the set-up; the traffickers are bringing people, mostly from Eastern Europe although Amelie is a German runaway, and keeping them at the farm until needed. Eventually Cenk finds Amelie but the problems are far from over; if he doesn't deliver her there will be no way of discovering the location of the illegal operating theatre and more people will die.
This was possibly the best episode of 'Cenk Batu' to date as there is a greater sense of tension due to the threat to Amelie Cenk is in danger too but ultimately the viewer knows he has to survive to be in the next episode. As the end approaches it looks as though things could go very wrong. The central theme of trafficking people to use their organs is particularly disturbing, at least to me. The story is told at a good pace and the villains are suitably threatening. There are some interesting moral dilemmas as Cenk and Uwe must decide whether or not to risk Amelie in order to expose the traffickers even though I'm sure that in real life such a risk wouldn't be contemplated it works in the context of a drama. The cast does a fine job; Mehmet Kurtulus, now sporting an impressive moustache, continues to impress as Cenk and Michelle Barthel does a fine job as Amelie. Overall another fine episode.
