There was no script, every interview is completely improvised. Therefor it really is a documentary somehow - only a small concept was written by the core team to have some guidelines. All the rest happened in the editing room over 1 year.
"Noseland" started off as a no-budget 4-people production (director, sound, camera, assistant), only accommodation, flights and money for renting equipment was provided. After the shooting, the core team worked for over 1 year in the editing room without money. It was then when a good friend and supporter became the executive producer to help finish the movie and bring it to festivals.
Even though the country of origin is Austria, the only Austrian in the core team is Sebastian Leitner - a Vienna based young film maker. The crew is - just as the protagonists - an international mix.
Sound mix and editing took about as long as editing the movie. There were several versions and a lot of different things were tried out, so the sound had to be re-done and changed many times. The film makers say, that having tried several different things helped them a lot and that they showed those versions to a lot of people to get early feedback.
"Noseland" was edited to the music, not the other (usual) way around.
