"The windshield wiper blade starts to squeak. The rain has stopped." Don't forget your seatbelt. Enjoy this mesmerizing supercut video featuring "Adam Driver Driving". Edited by the talented Luís Azevedo, this supercut was released by Little White Lies and is meant to be a tie-in with the upcoming release of Ferrari. Believe it or not, 39-year-old actor Adam Driver has been in tons of films where he's driving. This features footage from: "Girls", White Noise, The Dead Don't Die, House of Gucci, This Is Where I Leave You, Logan Lucky, Paterson, While We're Young, and BlacKkKlansman. I love that he includes one of his poems from Paterson (one of my all-time faves) and the way he integrates the back-and-forth Gucci convo. Hilarious. Another great supercut from Azevedo, always editing some of the best cinema videos on YouTube nowadays. // Continue Reading ›...

Sex and the City fans were recently treated to a Bravo mashup between Ryan Serhant and the HBO series spin-off And Just Like That‘s … Seema Patel (Sarita Choudhury).
In And Just Like That … Season 2, episode 9, Seema scours the Manhattan landscape for the perfect pad for client Ravi Gordi (Armin Amiri). She finds a great apartment, represented by Serhant, who plays himself. Ravi doesn’t seem impressed, but he hasn’t seemed impressed with any of the listings.
Ultimately Serhant allows Seema and Ravi to explore the place, which is when the two realize they have hot chemistry, which they can no longer deny. They have sex in the apartment, something Seema has never done before with a client. As they leave, she lets Serhant know that they’ll take the place – and he can tell exactly how she “closed the deal.”
Serhant teased his role on the show in an Instagram video.

In one of the most touching scenes in “Barbie,” the title character, played by Margot Robbie, has a conversation on the bench with an old lady on a bench in the real world.
We won’t spoil what they discussed, but we will reveal who plays the unnamed character: Ann Roth.
Roth is the costume designer for the Greta Gerwig film, a five-time Academy Award nominee for costume design and two-time winner (“The English Patient” in 1996 and “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” in 2020).
The 91-year-old designer’s career has spanned six decades. Other notable projects she’s worked on include “Midnight Cowboy,” “9 to 5,” “Sabrina” and “The Hours.” While this is Roth’s first film with Gerwig, she previously collaborated with Gerwig’s partner Noah Baumbach on “Margot at the Wedding,” “While We’re Young” and “White Noise.”

Exclusive: Marriage Story filmmaker Noah Baumbach has set his next project, but it’s not for the screen.
We understand the writer-director is working on his first book, a memoir, which is currently untitled, and has been snapped up in what we hear was a highly competitive auction.
Knopf has taken North American rights. Jordan Pavlin, Knopf SVP and Editor-in-Chief acquired the book from Byrd Leavall and Albert Lee at United Talent Agency. Knopf will publish the book in hardcover, e-book, and in audio by Penguin Random House. UK Commonwealth rights were sold by Sophie Lambert of C&w on behalf of Byrd Leavell and Albert Lee, and acquired, at auction, by Jocasta Hamilton Publisher at John Murray.
Specific details about the book are being kept under wraps, but we understand the work will, in some way, chart the Barbie co-scribe’s life and career through key experiences and his relationship with cinema.

Let’s take a look at the distinguished career of writer/director Noah Baumbach, who was Oscar-nominated twice for the film “Marriage Story.” It was his second outing with Netflix, following “The Meyerowitz Stories” starring Adam Sandler and Dustin Hoffman. A third film for the streamer was an adaptation of “White Noise” for 2022, starring his partner Greta Gerwig, a nominee for writing “Little Women” and directing/writing “Lady Bird.”
Baumbach is no stranger to the Oscars, having been nominated for 2005’s “The Squid and the Whale” starring Jeff Daniels and Laura Linney. All of these films are featured in our photo gallery above, which ranks all 10 movies directed by Baumbach from worst to best. "I've begun reminiscing events before they even occur," laments Chris Eigeman's Max in Noah Baumbach's "Kicking and Screaming." The character continues, "I'm reminiscing this right now." If ever a line could sum up the career of the writer-director, perhaps it's this one. Baumbach's characters, always shooting from the hip, are anchored in a perpetual present where they're paralyzed by the uncertainties of the future. Yet, because they cannot return to or recreate the past, they're mostly just stuck with their words and worries.
Baumbach's career has taken many twists and turns and has seen peaks and valleys. He emerged from the home video-market-fueled indie boom of the Sundance era with talky tales like "Kicking and Screaming." He added more unadulterated drama alongside witty wordsmithing in films such as "The Squid and the Whale." Out of some persistent sense of large-scale ruin, we keep inventing hope.
On Tuesday, Netflix released the first official full-length trailer for the upcoming apocalyptic black comedy film “White Noise,” directed by Noah Baumbach. It’s Baumbach’s third feature with Netflix and first since finding Oscar attention with 2019’s “Marriage Story,” which landed Baumbach two nominations – Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay. The film won an Oscar for Laura Dern in the Best Supporting Actress category.
Based on the book by Don DeLillo, “White Noise” is an ‘80s satire about a professor of Hitler studies (played by Adam Driver) whose life is thrown into chaos after a train crash causes an airborne toxic event that wreaks havoc for his family.
You can watch the trailer here:
It marks the fifth collaboration between Baumbach and star Driver, following “Frances Ha,” “While We’re Young,” “The Meyerowitz Stories,” and “Marriage Story.” The film also stars Greta Gerwig,...

Noah Baumbach’s extremely wild looking adaptation of Don DeLillo’s (arguably un-adaptable) classic White Noise will include the first new bit of music from LCD Soundsystem in five years, Variety reports.

Owen Kline’s darkly hilarious directorial debut “Funny Pages” is a coming-of-age tale that finds the sublime in the grotesque, and the profound in an absurd search for meaning in the basement apartments and comic book shops of Trenton, New Jersey. Kline showcases a simultaneously provocative and poignant point-of-view and delivers an instant indie classic of lo-fi tri-state area cinema.
Kline’s “Funny Pages” is a delightfully disgusting and daring debut, featuring a breakout performance from “Eighth Grade”’s Daniel Zolghadri, as well as a host of New York’s most unique character actors. It also has notes of the Safdie Brothers’ “Uncut Gems” (the brothers serve as producers and Kline helped out on their shorts), a similar subject matter to “American Splendor” and just a soupçon of the gross-out sensibility of “The Greasy Strangler.”

Oscar-nominated writer/director Noah Baumbach reunites with two-time Oscar nominee Adam Driver and three-time Oscar nominee Greta Gerwig (his real-life partner) for White Noise, based on the book by Don DeLillo. If you’ve ever wondered what “Stranger Things” would look like through the lens of “The Squid and the Whale” filmmaker Noah Baumbach, Netflix appears to be granting that wish. The first teaser trailer for the Oscar-nominated “Frances Ha” and “Marriage Story” writer/director’s new film “White Noise” has arrived, which finds Adam Driver and Greta Gerwig playing a married couple in the 1980s trying to keep their family safe from… something.
The teaser trailer is purposefully obtuse, as is the official logline. Based on the novel of the same name by Don DeLillo, the film is described as “at once hilarious and horrifying, lyrical and absurd, ordinary and apocalyptic,” going on to say the story “dramatizes a contemporary American family’s attempts to deal with the mundane conflicts of everyday life while grappling with the universal mysteries of love, death, and the possibility of happiness in an uncertain world.

Following its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival Film, Noah Baumbach’s feature take of Don DeLillo’s 1985 novel White Noise will also open the 60th New York Film Festival, making its North American premiere at Alice Tully Hall on September 30.

“In 1985 my father and I drove from Brooklyn to see Kurosawa’s Ran open the 23rd NYFF, the same year that he brought home the hardback of Don DeLillo’s White Noise,” said Baumbach. “Opening the 60th NYFF with White...

The New York Film Festival has announced that Noah Baumbach’s “White Noise” will open the 60th edition of the festival on September 30. The film, which stars Adam Driver, Greta Gerwig, and Don Cheadle, will make its North American premiere at the festival. Ahead of NYFF, the long-in-the-works Don DeLillo adaptation is also set to open the Venice International Film Festival on August 31.
Adapting the 1985 postmodern classic, the film follows a renowned professor of Hitler studies at a U.S. liberal arts college (Adam Driver) who, along with his fourth wife (Greta Gerwig) and children, faces an “airborne toxic event” hanging over his town that threatens everyone’s lives. Raffey Cassidy, André Benjamin, Alessandro Nivola, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Don Cheadle also star.

Noah Baumbach’s black comedy “White Noise” will make its North American debut as the opening night film of the 60th New York Film Festival.
Adapted from Don DeLillo’s 1985 novel, “White Noise” centers on Adam Driver’s character Jack Gladney, an ostentatious professor of Hitler studies and a father of four. His comfortable suburban college-town life and marriage to Babette (Greta Gerwig) is upended after a horrifying accident nearby creates an airborne toxic event of frightening and unknowable proportions.
In a press release, New York Film Festival leaders described the film as “gratifyingly ambitious” and noted the story was long perceived as unfilmable. “In a tightrope walk of comedy and horror, Baumbach captures the essence of DeLillo’s cacophonous pop-philosophical nightmare on unbounded consumerism, ecological catastrophe and the American obsession with death. Impeccably matching DeLillo’s and Baumbach’s similarly percussive form of stylized dialogue, ‘White Noise’ is wonderfully abrasive and awe-inspiring,...

It’s been a decade since Lena Dunham was the voice of her generation. Or, well, a voice of a generation.
HBO series “Girls” revolutionized the TV landscape when it premiered on April 15, 2012. The series, created by Dunham, who also starred in, executive-produced, wrote, and directed the show, first debuted at SXSW before its TV premiere and eventual five Emmy Award nominations that year. Jenni Konner served as co-showrunner and producer while Judd Apatow also executive produced.
“Girls” stars Dunham as 20-something struggling writer Hannah Horvath, who has one foot in adolescence thanks to an allowance from her parents. After she’s informed she’s been financially cut off two years after graduating from a liberal arts college, Hannah embarks on navigating New York City by experiencing one mistake at a time.
Jemima Kirke, Zosia Mamet, and Allison Williams play Hannah’s eccentric and at times codependent circle of friends.

Photo: ‘While We’re Young’ “He’s not evil, he’s just young” is arguably the thesis statement of Noah Baumbach’s 2014 film ‘While We’re Young’. The film, produced by the popular A24, is a seriocomedy that follows a Gen X couple befriending a hip millennial couple. While the film hilariously pokes fun at the differences of being in your thirties versus your twenties, it also offers a deep dive look at the generational differences that affect everyone, whether you like it or not. From wanting to be like the younger “cool kids” to finding the younger generation insufferable, the film tackles each feeling that comes with the generational divide. At a time when we are all in such desperate need for good news, the announcement that Charles Grodin has passed away comes as an especially cruel punch to the gut. In everything he appeared in, he glittered like a rare jewel and perhaps it’s only now that he’d left us, that we’ll realise what an invaluable jewel he was.
In a career that stretched back to the 1950s, Grodin was an actor, director and a successful writer too, more comfortable on stage or sat behind a typewriter. It was on screen though that his magically droll, put-on persona came to worldwide attention.
Smaller parts in films like Rosemary’s Baby and Catch-22 gave way to major roles in The Heartbreak Kid and the 1976 King Kong remake. In everything he did, no matter how talented his fellow cast members were, it was more often than not Charles Grodin...

Charles Grodin, the comic, scene-stealing actor of such films as The Heartbreak Kid, Midnight Run and Beethoven who later established himself as a curmudgeonly talk show guest without rival, died today at his home in Wilton, Conn. He was 86.
His son, Nicholas, told The New York Times that the cause of death was bone marrow cancer. A spokesperson said Grodin died peacefully at his home.
Born Charles Sidney Grodin in Pittsburgh, Grodin, who studied under Lee Strasberg, made his big-screen debut in the small role as the duped obstetrician who turns Mia Farrow’s Rosemary over to a coven of witches in Roman Polanski’s Rosemary’s Baby (1968), Grodin graduated to leading man by 1972’s The Heartbreak Kid, the Elaine May film that established his career and set the hapless, dry-wit style that would become his signature.

Following the success of “Marriage Story,” acclaimed filmmaker Noah Baumbach has singed a multi-year deal to write and direct films for Netflix.
Baumbach, an indie stalwart who broke out with the 2005 drama “The Squid and the Whale,” will exclusively work with the streaming giant in the feature space for the duration of the deal. The filmmaker is repped by UTA.

“When I started in the film industry I dreamed of having a home,” Baumbach said in a statement to TheWrap. “It took me about 25 years but it was worth the wait. I couldn’t be more thrilled to be making movies with Ted and Scott and everyone at Netflix, who are wonderful collaborators and friends and family.”

Next month, Netflix is rolling out a ton of great new Halloween-themed content, including a bunch of must-see originals like The Haunting of Bly Manor, A Babysitter’s Guide to Monster Hunting and Rebecca. Unfortunately, though, it’s also losing a lot of horror films in October that would’ve made for perfect seasonal viewing.
On October 2nd, both Cult of Chucky – the last Chucky flick before the reboot – and Truth or Dare – that’s the 2017 TV movie, not the 2018 Blumhouse production – are being removed from Netflix’s library. The bulk of the horror titles leaving in October are, ironically, being removed on October 31st, though. So, if you’re hoping to do an Underworld marathon this Halloween or rewatch classics like Tim Burton’s Sleepy Hollow or The Silence of the Lambs, make sure you don’t leave it until the day itself.

Christopher Nolan’s “Tenet” boasts an impressive roster of behind-the-scenes talent, from cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema to Oscar-winning “Black Panther” composer Ludwig Göransson, but the most exciting addition might just be editor Jennifer Lame. After making a name for herself as Noah Baumbach’s go-to editor, Lame broke out further with her work on Kenneth Lonergan’s Oscar winner “Manchester by the Sea” and Ari Aster’s new horror classic “Hereditary.” With “Tenet,” Lame makes the jump to her first studio tentpole.
“For me, hiring is about looking at the work people have done in the past, but not necessarily in relation to what you’re looking to do,” Nolan recently told Icg Magazine about teaming with Lame for the first time. “I look for excellence and judgment. When meeting, it’s more about discovering if there’s a common creative language, which is exactly what turned out to be the case.

“I never should have written ‘Hip to be Square’ in the third-person,” says Huey Lewis of the News fame. The man who has sold more than 30 million records, spawning such ‘80s classics as “The Heart of Rock and Roll,” “I Want a New Drug,” the Oscar-nominated “The Power of Love” and the song he’s fretting about now, a narrative lynchpin in both the book and film of Brett Easton Ellis/Mary Harron’s “American Psycho.” “People though I was singing about myself.”
The 69-year-old, longtime pal Jimmy Kimmel’s favorite rock star, is making a push for his underappreciated legacy with a pleasingly backward-looking blues/R&b, horns-heavy seven-song album, “Weather,” out on Feb. 14 via BMG Rights Management.
The album arrives at a bittersweet time, as Lewis has been suffering from a rare inner-ear disorder called Meniere’s Disease that causes his hearing to suddenly diminish, making it impossible for him to perform.

Things that are important to Su: her collection of internet browser tabs, her trusty cell phone, her lackluster job. Things that are important to Jack: his sourdough starter, his trusty cell phone, a brand-new crystal to clutch when things are hard. The definitely millennial, decidedly Brooklyn, and vaguely hipster couple are as “very online” and plugged in as anyone, but just how connected are they?
Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson’s amiable “Save Yourselves!” knowingly digs deep into the long-time couple’s obvious ennui — cradling their iPhones like babies, they’re prone to announcing they want to be “better people,” which maybe involves, like, I dunno, going vegetarian again? — and pulls out And while it doesn’t quite stick the landing, the zippy journey there is fun enough to justify the winding road there..

“Million Dollar Listing” host Ryan Serhant and YouTuber Casey Neistat announced Wednesday evening they’re teaming up to pay someone’s New York City rent for one year.
“Had I not been in New York City, I would have never then followed the weird career trajectory that has taken me to where I am today, you know, a lot of which I credit to New York City,” Serhant told TheWrap ahead of the announcement. “New York City allows all the apartments and homes that I sell to be worth what I sell them for and allows me to have my own beautiful home. It’s where I met my wife, where we had our first baby… like, my career was made in New York City.”

In May 1982, San Francisco-area band Huey Lewis and the News notched their first Top Ten pop hit with “Do You Believe in Love,” a song written by Shania Twain’s future (and now former) producer and husband, “Mutt” Lange. Taken from the group’s sophomore LP, Picture This, the song was followed by two more singles, including the energetic “Workin’ for a Livin’,” which peaked just outside the Top 40. Lewis and company would enjoy a huge commercial breakthrough with their next album, 1983’s Sports, which topped the chart and spawned four consecutive Top Ten singles,...

“Marriage Story” opens with spouses Nicole (Scarlett Johansson) and Charlie (Adam Driver) each reciting a list of everything they love and admire about each other. It’s almost unbearably adorable, so much so that writer-director Noah Baumbach immediately pulls out the rug: These lists are an exercise assigned by a counselor who’s seeing the couple through their divorce.
Over the course of this poignant, hilarious, heartbreaking saga, Baumbach performs an incisive autopsy on this couple. As their breakup brings out the best and worst of them, we will learn why they worked so well together and why they needed to separate from each other; if there’s a plot or traditional dramatic tension here, it’s over whether or not these two can remain amicable enough to stay close to each other and to be effective parents to their son, Henry.

Huey Lewis and the News unveiled a new song, “While We’re Young,” from their first album of all new music in 19 years, Weather, out February 14th, 2020.
“While We’re Young” is a plucky pop rock tune with supple guitars and bright horns fluttering over a tight drum and bass groove. Lewis is as wry and witty as ever on vocals as he sings about turning back the clock, while still properly acknowledging the limits of one’s age: “We’ll take a nap in the afternoon/That’s just part...

In editing “Marriage Story,” Jennifer Lame wanted to stick to the structure of Noah Baumbach‘s script, which she recalls was “very even keeled” and “not weighted towards one character or the other.” Lame spoke extensively about her work on the acclaimed domestic drama in a new behind-the-scenes featurette, “Making the Cut.” Watch the exclusive video featurette above.

Presenting an even hand was crucial for the Netflix release, which centers on a messy divorce between theater director Charlie (Adam Driver) and actress Nicole (Scarlett Johansson). When exploring “the themes of a relationship,” Lame believes “you have to go back-and-forth, and it was the way Noah wrote it.” So when she was cutting a scene, she need to make sure “that the editing still reflected that sentiment.”

Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver excel as a couple caught in the storm of an increasingly vicious – and often hilarious – separation in Baumbach’s bittersweet heartbreaker
Writer-director Noah Baumbach first gained widespread critical acclaim with The Squid and The Whale, an autobiographically inspired child’s-eye view of a family falling apart. His latest offers a reverse-take on a similar scenario – a bittersweet portrait of an imploding marriage told from the perspective of the couple for whom custody of their child becomes an increasingly fractious issue. Just as Jeff Daniels declared that “the whole thing’s very complicated” in 2005, so Scarlett Johansson insists in Marriage Story that “it’s not as simple as not being in love any more”. Yet while those phrases seem to echo each other, making these films apparent companion pieces, the distance that Baumbach has travelled since the days of The Squid and The Whale is enormous.
