- When Umberto Ruspanti apparently jumps off a bridge onto the pavement below, his death has all of the earmarks of a suicide. In fact, everyone seems to be quite keen that the death be ruled as such. Det. Aurelio Zen however has never been one to just go along and soon forms the opinion that Ruspanti was pushed off the bridge. Ruspanti's friend and lawyer, Mr. Gattuso, tells him that Ruspanti kept a safe deposit box and was in the process of selling information to someone. Zen is then warned that a secret criminal organization known as the Cabal may have been involved but no one seems to have heard of it. Meanwhile, Zen's private life is getting more complicated. Tania Moretti has decided to leave her husband and find her own apartment. She also seems to be flirting with one of the other detectives. Zen's wife asks for a divorce and an attractive prosecutor has clearly set her sights on him.—garykmcd
