- The hotel decides to lock out the union in a long standing labor dispute. The hotel brings in their corporate negotiator, Linda, to deal with the issue against the union president, Bud Michaels. Beyond Arkady who sees the lockout as a personal violation against him, the lockout affects a young South Asian couple, Tara and Vijay, who just got married in the hotel. Despite being an arranged marriage between Vancouver based Tara and Calcutta based Vijay, Tara says that she and Vijay are truly and madly in love. She classifies their courtship not as one would view a traditional South Asian arranged marriage, but rather more like e-harmony with their parents looking over their shoulders. The night of the start of the lockout, several of the safes in the vault room are robbed. Among the missing items are all of Tara and Vijay's wedding gifts, and Arkady's engagement ring to Rosemary, which is a Russian heirloom. Linda's confidential documents, which were also in the vault room, are seemingly untouched. Vijay and/or his best man, Mohit, who is more a friend of Tara's who actually used to work in the hotel, are the initial suspects as the robbery looks to be an inside job and as Vijay goes missing. As Arkady goes searching for his ring, he has to decide if the wedding party and/or those involved in the union/management battle are more likely suspects. Meanwhile, Pippa now has many of the pieces involved in Rosemary's murder. What Arkady tells her is that they now have to figure out who is moving those pieces.—Huggo
