Felicity starred Russell as a young California woman attending college in New York City. Speedman and Foley were her love interests.

What is the Sundance Film Festival outside of Park City?
Sundance Institute CEO Joanna Vicente has addressed the possibility of a move for the Sundance Film Festival out of Park City, where it has taken place since the early ’80s.
Vicente was the surprise guest at the live-taping of Puck founding partner Matt Belloni‘s Ringer podcast The Town. During the wide-ranging conversation that touched on everything from the Netflix acquisition of Fair Play to the five-year plan for the festival, Belloni asked Vicente about the state of negotiations for staying in Park City.
“Park City is part of Sundance,” Vicente answered. “It’s a beautiful location. It’s kind of remote. We get immersed into the festival.” At that point, Belloni interjected to say, “I feel a but coming,” adding that in his conversations with Uber drivers, restaurant employees and ski industry insiders, “They don’t like Sundance.”

Warning: contains plot spoilers for The Boy and the Heron.
The English-language title of Hayao Miyazaki’s latest feature at Studio Ghibli is misleadingly simple. The Boy and the Heron suggests an Aesop-like fable in the vein of The Ant and the Grasshopper or The Hare and the Fox. The film itself has nothing like the clarity of a fable. It’s crowded, at times to the point of narrative incoherence, with enchanting but mystifying episodes that elude a single reading.
It’s the story of Mahito, a boy in 1940s Tokyo who loses his mother in a wartime fire. A year later, his father remarries her sister and starts a new family, moving them out to the aunt’s childhood countryside home. There, Mahito is plagued by a menacing heron who lures him to a mysterious tower built by his grand-uncle with the promise of seeing his mother alive.

Both have podcasts in common: Chamberlain’s Anything Goes podcast has been hosted by Spotify for only two weeks as part of an exclusive deal (and has already more than doubled in listenership, the company said), and as part of Spotify’s purchase of The Ringer for $250 million in 2020, Simmons’ network has over 50 podcasts on the platform.
Interviewed by Spotify’s global head of public affairs Dustee Jenkins, Chamberlain and Simmons shared insights about the importance of authenticity in audio, why a pivot to video in podcasting makes sense, and where they see the industry heading.
“It’s always been so exciting to me to just be vulnerable in a new way online … I started podcasting because I thought that the medium would be perfect for me.

Grumpy coach Harrelson trains a team of teens with learning disabilities in this remake of the Spanish film Campeones
This big-hearted underdog sports comedy runs on rails, with no great surprises, but it’s likable. It’s the story of Marcus (Woody Harrelson), a washed-up, grumpy basketball coach with a booze problem who gets busted for drunk driving: the judge sentences him to 90 days’ community service coaching a basketball team of teens with learning disabilities.
It’s a remake of a Spanish film called Campeones and inspired by a true story from Spain, but the fact that this film is directed by the broad comedy maestro Bobby Farrelly might remind you of The Ringer, the Johnny Knoxville comedy from 2005 that Farrelly produced with his brother Peter. The Ringer had Knoxville pretending to have a mental disability to compete in the Special Olympics. That film toyed with some grossout bad taste...

Long before she was Buffy, Sarah Michelle Gellar was a child star, landing commercial gigs. The star has had many prominent roles since then, so it’s unlikely most think of her for her Burger King ad. But it certainly made an impact on the actor. Gellar recounts how she was sued by a competitor at just 5 years old.
McDonald’s sued 5-year-old Sarah Michelle Gellar for her Burger King commercial
One of the first campaign ads Gellar did was for Burger King back in 1981. The commercial caused the 5-year-old to get into some legal trouble.
“I was the first person to say another competitor’s name in a job,” the star told Buzzfeed. “[They] turned around and sued the advertising agency, Burger King, and me at five!”
In the ad, the young Gellar is seen sitting on a bench outside a Burger King restaurant, where she tells the audience that...

Rian Johnson is on a murder mystery hot streak. After releasing "Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery" at the end of 2022, he's starting off 2023 on the right foot with a mystery-of-the-week original series on Peacock. Executive produced by himself and Natasha Lyonne (who also stars in the series), "Poker Face" is emblematic of the mystery shows of old, and harkens back to the 1970s when Universal and NBC ruled the mystery movie night spot with feature-length "Columbo" episodes that boasted impressive guests and even more remarkable murders.
The bygone era of those old detective shows has been revived with "Poker Face," as Johnson's primary goal is to take all the best parts of mystery television from years of yore and reintroduce them to a new audience. Given his love of all things mystery that he saw as a child, it's no surprise that a series like "Poker Face" came to fruition.

In every generation, there is a Chosen One. But for many, there’s a particular Chosen One who has transcended all that with a legacy that endures from one generation to the next.
Kendra and Faith both hold a special place in our hearts, but it’s Buffy Summers who will forever remain the blueprint, even now. Sunnydale would have been a very different place without its signature Slayer, and it’s safe to say that TV as a whole would have been very different without Sarah Michelle Gellar too.
In the 20 years that have passed since Buffy the Vampire Slayer ended, Gellar has slayed all manner of projects, from underrated roles in Ringer and Southland Tales to an instantly iconic comeback in Do Revenge.
And now she’s back on our screens, working both in-front-of and behind the camera for a new TV show called Wolf Pack.

Ask any fan of "The Simpsons" to rattle off their top episodes, and chances are it won't take long before they get to "Marge vs. the Monorail." It's widely regarded as one of the all-time classics in the show's three-plus decades run, and for good reason. It was the brainchild of Conan O'Brien and features several top-notch guest voice actors. Obviously, the big one is frequent "Simpsons" guest Phil Hartman, whose con artist character Lyle Lanley has become iconic for his "The Music Man"-inspired song and dance numbers. But the episode also features an extremely memorable guest turn from a beloved actor from a classic 1960s television series.

Two decades after her character’s retirement, the woman behind Buffy the Vampire Slayer still can’t help but come to the rescue.
Sarah Michelle Gellar arrives early to Blue Ribbon Sushi — she is always early — wearing a camel trench, striped sweater and a welcoming smile. Merely on time, I join her with an iPhone suffering some kind of electronic stroke. The typically reliable recording device, regressed to a glitching black brick, has us briefly considering a change of venue to the Genius Bar before Gellar segues into problem-solving mode. This, as everyone in her orbit insists, is where she most excels. “It’s Ok, I’m the It professional for my entire family,” she explains, reviving the instrument after a few minutes of methodical button-pushing.
Despite this act of quiet heroism, Gellar’s presence goes curiously unchecked during our mid-December afternoon at a boutique mall in Los Angeles’ Pacific Palisades neighborhood.

Tanya McQuoid (McQuoid-Hunt if you want to get technical). For many, she is the shining star of "The White Lotus" franchise, and not just because she is one of only two characters to make an appearance in both seasons. Played by the always-extraordinary Jennifer Coolidge, Tanya is a supremely wealthy woman who also just happens to live with a supreme amount of insecurity. Season 2 finds her married to Greg Hunt — the pretty shady dude that Tanya falls in love with while staying at the Hawaiian White Lotus in season 1 — and while she may have finally found love, her self-doubt is on full display now more than ever. Only after Greg (Jon Gries) unexpectedly leaves her to take care of some work-related business (I.E. an affair), does Tanya finally find her stride by teaming up with a group of "high-end gays" that befriend her at the Sicilian resort.

Twelve years after "Teen Wolf" came roaring into our lives with more werewolf-based high school drama than anyone could ever ask for, series creator Jeff Davis is back with another show about some very wolfy young people. Rest assured, though: if you're not a "Teen Wolf" fan, it's worth noting that Davis already told Entertainment Weekly this show has nothing to do with the six-season MTV series that's getting the movie treatment this year, correcting prior reports that it would be a spin-off of the series.
So if "Wolf Pack" doesn't have a connection to the "Teen Wolf" world, what does it have? Well, judging by the first trailer: a cool and unnerving plot involving California wildfires, a cast of young up-and-comers,...

Note: Detailed spoilers for "The White Lotus" season 2 finale are below.
In "The White Lotus" season 2 finale, tension is knife-thick. Jennifer Coolidge's Tanya McQuoid plays a central role throughout the episode as she puts two and two together, realizing that her new rich gay friends are fooling her and that they actually plan on abducting and murdering her. It doesn't help when she discovers her husband orchestrated the plan — conspiring with his lover to take away the prenup money from his wealthy wife.
Season 2 of the Mike White-created, Emmy-winning HBO series explores infidelity and sexual politics along with misogyny and power dynamics in an idyllic Sicilian setting. A new batch of conflicting personalities and their secrets are unraveled in season 2, and it all comes down to a shocking conclusion, with Coolidge's self-sabotaging Tanya at its center and end. By 1991, James Cameron was well on his way to becoming one of Hollywood's best filmmakers. With the first "Terminator," "Aliens," and "The Abyss" already under his belt, the director was ready to deliver what would be considered one of his best movies (if not the best) with "Terminator 2: Judgement Day," firmly cementing his legendary status.
In the process of making the movie, Cameron went through a production budget that grew from 80 million to around the 100 million mark, continuing his trend of pushing budgets beyond their limits. Thankfully, "Terminator 2" was a big hit, bringing in 515 million at the global box office and placating the suits at Carolco who had watched Cameron burn through their initial budget, and then some, making the movie.
Much of its success was clearly down to Cameron's filmmaking prowess. But there's no doubt Arnold Schwarzenegger in the starring role was one of the biggest drivers of ticket sales.

Hollywood is full of mediocre comedians who get a few laughs while hosting the occasional "Saturday Night Live" episode or voicing an old, rusted tow truck in a Pixar movie, but they'll never be able to compete with the legends. We all have different opinions about who we consider to be comedy greats, but a few of my personal favorites are Richard Pryor, George Carlin, and Chris Farley. That last pick might raise a few eyebrows, but I'm more than willing to defend the man who threw himself onto coffee tables and danced with Patrick Swayze just to make others laugh -- and boy did they.
Similar to the Supreme Court's views on hardcore porn, comedic perfection is obvious when you see it. Audiences recognized it immediately in Farley. The comedian dominated any stage or set he was ever on and relentlessly attacked onlookers with unbridled, fearless comedy that left them perpetually hungry for more.

Watching an episode of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" is kind of like meeting someone new for the first time: It's awkward as hell. Larry David, the show's creator (of "Seinfeld" fame) and main character, is a master of the neurotic. On the show, he plays an embellished version of himself who is constantly getting into petty tiffs with the show's rotating cast of characters, guest stars (including Ted Danson as perhaps one of the best frenemies TV has ever seen) who often play souped-up versions of themselves, as well. But what makes "Curb" and its actors so impressive is that the script for each episode is sparse — usually consisting of nothing more than a general plot outline without actual lines — leaving it up to the actors to decide exactly what their characters are going to say and do.

Jordan Peele’s Nope is a UFO story where characters aren’t concerned with killing an alien so much as capturing it on camera. In that regard, it’s an extraterrestrial thriller that feels very much in sync with our zeitgeist, one whose chief preoccupation revolves around our struggles to process singular, horrific happenings in an age when they are so swiftly commodified into something sellable, scrollable, and endlessly watchable. Daniel Kaluuya plays Oj Haywood, Keke Palmer his sister Emerald. They’re the descendants of the Black jockey immortalized in Eadweard Muybridge’s The Horse in Motion (1878), a man whose name (unlike the horse’s and its owner’s) has long been erased from history. The Haywood siblings own a ranch in Agua Dulce, where they train horses for film appearances. But business is drying up, and a neighbor—former child star Ricky “Jupe” Park (Steven Yeun)—wants to buy them out.

The media's obsession with mysteries involving twins is showing no signs of slowing down, and Netflix's latest effort looks like a surefire hit.
Michelle Monaghan is pulling double duty on this one from co-showrunners Brian Yorkey (13 Reasons Why) and Quinton Peeples (Runaways).
Given the previous shows the creatives worked on, we're inclined to believe this will have twists and turns coming from all directions, and that's what we like best.
"Echoes is a mystery thriller about two identical twins, Leni and Gina, who share a dangerous secret," the spoilery synopsis reads.
"Since they were children, Leni and Gina have secretly swapped lives, culminating in a double life as adults: they share two homes, two husbands, and a child but everything in their perfectly choreographed world is thrown into disarray when one of the sisters goes missing."
It certainly sounds similar to The CW's Ringer.

Wounded in the chaos of its attack, the teens are inexplicably drawn to each other and to two others who were adopted sixteen years earlier by a park ranger after another mysterious wildfire.

After scoring its first Best Limited Series Emmy win last year with “The Queen’s Gambit,” Netflix is hoping for a repeat victory with “Maid,” a 10-part drama based on the memoir of the same name by Stephanie Land. The series stars Margaret Qualley as Alex Russell, a young mother who leaves her abusive partner and attempts to start her and her daughter’s lives anew. Qualley recently reflected on the experience of making the show during a 2022 Emmys FYC panel hosted by Variety’s Jenelle Riley along with castmates Andie MacDowell and Anika Noni Rose, executive producer/showrunner/writer Molly Smith Metzler, cinematographer/director Quyen Tran, and executive producer/director John Wells. Watch the video Q&a above.
When asked how she prepared for her challenging role, Qualley said her foremost concern was “forging that bond with Rylea [Nevaeh Whittet],” who plays Russell’s toddler daughter, Maddy, because “that was the one thing that…...
