Typical Venezuelan Movie
verrucktcarlos23 February 2020
This movie like many Venezuelan movies suffers from the same problem. The plot is uninteresting, I don't know why many movies from my country are like this. There's hardly any plot, it's as if you grabbed a camera and simply recorded your family in their daily life. The present us with this issue ''Cheila'' has and it stretches out for the entire movie. The whole movie is basically her discussing with her family, specially the mom about the money problem she and her family have, and it goes nowhere.

The acting is typical acting from here, it feels very forced and fake. Every single Venezuelan movie I have watched is like this, the acting feels like I was watching a play. The editing is also very confusing, the transition between scenes is very abrupt. And, it's obvious the budget for this was tight, but come on, they could have at least tried a little bit to show that the mom has aged, they alternate between the past 30 years ago and the present and the mom is exactly the same.

The music was absolutely horrendous, there were scenes that were supposed to be emotional and they put this jazz music, and it was so cringy to watch. There's also a part where they show blood and it looks very obviously like chocolate syrup.

Props for tackling the male chauvinism problem in Venezuelan society, that is something that perhaps not so surprisingly is still prevalent today, mothers who believe men should not do any house chores at all, parents that would rather have their son be a criminal than gay etc. But God, the storyline is so uninteresting. And I didn't mention the extremely tacky opening credits.

The reason I found about this movie is because someone very close to me appears in it. But in all honesty, this is one of the worst movies I have ever seen.
