The 2011 Fantasia International Film Festival has come to an end and as usual was a rousing success with more than 100,000 audience members. From the Press Release: sThe festival opened with a bang with the Canadian premiere of Red State by director Kevin Smith. This was only the first in a long line of sensational special events that took place over the course of the festival. Among those was the incredible homage to the great John Landis (Burke And Hare), marked by the presentation of Fantasia’s new trophy “Le Cheval Noir.” Mirroring our strong launch, the festival closed with the Canadian premiere of Guillermo del Toro’s Don’T Be Afraid Of The Dark. I'm super excited to report that we've acquired North American rights to the post-apocalyptic comedy Hellacious Acres: The Case Of John Glass for limited theatrical, VOD and DVD release as part of their Bloody Disgusting Selects film series. The pic was first announced here on Bloody this past June. Montreal-based director Pat Tremblay wrote, directed and played the titular character in Hellacious along with editing, co-scoring and creating most of the visual effects. Cast includes Navin Pratap, Jamie Abrams, Paula J. Davis, Laurent Lecompte and Francis Dubois. Inside you'll find what is easily one of my favorite trailers of the year. Get ready for "action-styled action" and a whole lotta walking...

Nearly five months ago, we told you about director Pat Tremblay’s upcoming post-apocalyptic indie called Hellacious Acres: The Case Of John Glass (here), and now Twitch has the first trailer for the film. Described as a “minimalist black sci-fi comedy set in a post-apocalyptic world“, the film certainly looks great given the budgetary restrains.

Beyond that, he wants you to discover for yourself. And the path to discovery begins now with the release of the first trailer for the film. It's obviously a low budget affair but shot with a very good eye for composition and with the budget limits neatly worked in to the overall visual aesthetic of the picture. There's definite promise here. Take a look below....
