Pamela Anderson is returning to the big screen. The “Barb Wire” and “Baywatch” star is set to lead Gia Coppola’s third feature film “The Last Showgirl,” described as a redemption story about an aging Las Vegas dancer looking to connect with her adult daughter after her show is abruptly canceled. Seemingly part “Hacks” and part “The Wrestler,” the film is written by “Up Here” and “The Good Place” scribe Kate Gersten and directed by Coppola.
“The Last Showgirl” marks Anderson’s first lead role in years, and her latest feature after 2022’s “Alone at Night.” In addition to Anderson, the star-studded cast includes Oscar winner Jamie Lee Curtis, Dave Bautista, Brenda Song, Kiernan Shipka, and Billie Lourd.
The official logline for the film reads: “A seasoned showgirl (Anderson) must plan for her future when her show abruptly closes after a thirty-year run. As a dancer in her fifties, she...

The channel marks a partnership between Anderson and K2 Studios, the IMAX format documentary film studio and unscripted TV producer/distributor. K2’s recent slate of IMAX format theatrical releases include “Turtle Odyssey,” narrated by Russell Crowe; “Sea Lions” with Sam Neill; “Mountain Quest” with Willem Dafoe; and “Journey to Space” with Patrick Stewart. Welcome to another rundown of every stat released by the TV insights company Samba TV. Below, we’ll run through all their released viewing stats (whether through their socials or through somewhere else) for Netflix’s newly released movies for the past three years.
How does Samba TV get its data? As described on its own website, the company tracks what appears on the users’ TV by reading pixels and utilizing this data for personalized recommendations on the TV or mobile apps connected to the television.
It’s also important to note that Samba TV stats typically only cover US households.
Of course, Netflix itself releases excellent viewing stats every Tuesday via its top 10 site. However, more data is always good, and it’s good to see shows and movies benchmarked against each other from a company like Samba TV.

Pamela Anderson loves love. Throughout the years, the "Baywatch" star and former Playboy model has romanced her fair share of suitors and tied the knot with five men - including repeat marriages with Rick Salomon. "I'm a hopeless romantic and I do believe in [love] . . . I love traditional marriage," Anderson once said on "The Wendy Williams Show" in 2016.
Anderson's most notable relationship was with Tommy Lee, her first husband, with whom she shares her two sons Brandon, 27, and Dylan, 25. Anderson and Lee's relationship came back into the spotlight in 2022 as the subject of Hulu's "Pam & Tommy" series, which focused on their infamous leaked sex tape. Anderson denounced the show for not consulting her prior, however, she did tell her side of the story in her candid 2023 Netflix documentary, "Pamela, a Love Story" - part of which revisits her and Lee's relationship and their tumultuous split.

Pamela Anderson is a gem. During the Pandora Lab Grown Diamonds event for New York Fashion Week on Sept. 6, the actor and author stepped out with her two sons - 25-year-old Dylan Lee and 27-year-old Brandon Lee - for a joint red carpet appearance. The family appeared to coordinate outfits, with the boys wearing similar white button-down shirts and blue jeans, and Anderson matching in an all white ensemble. As the new (makeup-free) face of Pandora's lab-grown diamonds, this moment marked a major milestone for what Anderson described as her "new chapter" - a deliberate shift away from her former bombshell image. She stars in the campaign alongside her sons and other icons like Precious Lee and Justina Miles.
"The '90s was the '90s, and now it's 2023," Anderson told Entertainment Tonight. "This is a new chapter of my life." For her, this means a more natural look, a heightened focus on self care,...

Pamela Anderson has been sporting a more stripped-down look in recent years.
The Canadian actress spoke about now choosing to go virtually makeup-free — which is a contrast to her “Baywatch” days — in a new interview with Elle.
She admitted she didn’t have too much input in terms of how she looked early on in her career, telling the mag: “I just went along with what people were telling me what to do.”
After her makeup artist, Alexis Vogel, died from breast cancer on April 15, 2019, Anderson chose to leave her signature look in the past.
Anderson shared, “She was the best. And since then, I just felt, without Alexis, it’s just better for me not to wear makeup.”

Before working on “Pamela, a love story,” director Ryan White admits that there was no one more skeptical about making a Pamela Anderson documentary than him. “I think that’s because, like a lot of people, I had all of these preconceived notions about who Pamela Anderson is or who she would be today and I wasn’t really interested in being a part of that story,” he tells Gold Derby during our recent Meet the Experts: TV Documentary panel (watch the exclusive video interview above). All of that changed for White when he got the chance to have a Zoom session with Anderson. “I was so fascinated with who she appeared to be in this little box in front of me and I thought, ‘Wow. If I’m this surprised right now, if we could show an audience who this woman really is, that could be the recipe for a great documentary.

Exclusive: Netflix’s Harry & Meghan would never have found a home at the BBC, the woman tasked with overseeing the corporation’s documentary programing has said.
According to Clare Sillery, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s approach to the Netflix smash series would be unacceptable for a public broadcaster that “cannot relinquish editorial control.”
Speaking on the eve of Sheffield Doc Fest, Sillery said doc commissioning is a “question of trust and what audiences expect from us,” while she acknowledged that “in the online world people can have complete control of their own narratives.”
Clare Sillery: “This is a question of trust and what audiences expect from us.”

James Adolphus’ doc out of SXSW could become the latest about a TV legend to land a nomination in this category, following Lucy and Desi in 2022, Love, Gilda in 2019 and The Zen Diaries of Garry Shandling and Mister Rogers: It’s You I Like in 2018.
Judy Blume Forever (Amazon)
Davina Pardo and Leah Wolchok’s doc celebrates the titular author of children’s books, with narration by her and testimonials from her fans. It’s a sweet tribute to someone many grew up on — not unlike the two docs about Fred Rogers that were nominated in this category.
Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields (Hulu)
Lana Wilson’s two-parter, unveiled at Sundance, pairs old film clips and footage with new interviews to explore how the subject’s beauty has long brought her rewards and objectification. Particularly interesting: her relationships with her mother and her kids.

Now that Britney is free and Pamela Anderson did Broadway, it’s time for Anna Nicole Smith’s day in court — and not the bankruptcy kind.
Six years after MeToo dragged all the musty old skeletons out of every industry’s closet, we seem to have finally arrived at the end of respectability politics for women. Gone are the days when a media outlet can report what a victim was wearing or if they were drinking. In interviews surrounding her successful sexual abuse lawsuit against Donald Trump, the writer E. Jean Carroll felt perfectly comfortable saying she once thought Trump was handsome. And a victim’s sexual history is no longer fair game — certainly not since Stormy Daniels may be the key to a potential Trump felony conviction.

Anna Nicole Smith: You Don’t Know Me telegraphs its intentions loud and early. The documentary’s subject, the buxom blonde Guess and Playboy model who became a cultural caricature before dying from an accidental drug overdose in 2007 at age 39, was misunderstood. The forces that created her also destroyed her. Shame on us. You could program You Don’t Know Me in a double feature with Pamela: A Love Story, another recent Netflix documentary about a sex symbol laid low by the public that made her famous.
You Don’t Know Me largely adheres to its playbook.

Netflix continues to lead the way with their documentaries reevaluating the cultural impact and personal lives of controversial blondes. Their latest is director Ursula Macfarlane’s “Anna Nicole Smith: You Don’t Know Me,” which seeks to tell the real story behind the voluptuous blonde bombshell who died of an accidental drug overdose in 2007.
The documentary reveals that Smith was no angel, whose excesses ended up putting her on a path of destruction. In comparison to their previous documentaries, it’s easily one of the more negative and pessimistic explorations of femininity and fame. But for those looking for something new about Smith’s life it has its share of shocking new revelations. Below are five new discoveries revealed in “Anna Nicole Smith: You Don’t Know Me.”

Hulu's 2022 series "Pam & Tommy" sparked a renewed interest in the lives of former couple Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee. The Hulu series transports viewers back to the '90s at the height of Anderson and Tommy's whirlwind romance and explores the ups and downs of their relationship - most notably the theft and leaking of their sex tape. Anderson and Tommy were not personally involved in making the show, so Anderson's Netflix documentary "Pamela, a Love Story," which hit the streamer on Jan. 31, saw her reclaiming the narrative. "My life has been much more meaningful than a fluffy hat or a sex tape. There's more to me than that," Anderson told Variety in an interview explaining why she felt the need to tell her own story.

Keke Palmer and Pamela Anderson were both honored for their commitment to LGBTQ+ activism during the Los Angeles LGBT Center Gala on Saturday, held at Century City’s Fairmont Century Plaza. The two received the Vanguard Award alongside the late Leslie Jordan, a longtime center affiliate and former host of the gala, who was posthumously given a self-titled award.
Typically held annually, the fundraiser returned following a four-year-long absence as a result of the pandemic. The fete, hosted by Ts Madison, raised $1.2 million to go toward senior and youth services, culture and culinary programs and mental health resources. The center holds the status as the largest nonprofit serving queer and trans communities internationally.
“For me, it’s about freedom,” Palmer said of the center’s mission. “At the core, we are all trying to tell the world to let us be ourselves. Love me as I am, let me live as I am.

Emmys: Netflix Kicks Off Campaign Season with ‘Wednesday’ Stunt, Relocates ‘FYSee Space’ (Exclusive)
Netflix, perennially a key player in the Emmy race, is launching its 2023 Emmy campaigns on Wednesday with a, well, Wednesday-themed stunt.
Indeed, many voters and tastemakers will receive a hump-day visit — and hand-delivery of goodies — from a trio associated with the streamer’s hit comedy series: “Lurch,” the Addams family’s butler, who will be driving a class black 1930s hearse; “Wednesday Addams,” the titular teenager with psychic powers; and “Thing,” the sentient disembodied hand.
Additionally, The Hollywood Reporter has learned, Netflix will — for the fifth year in a row, but for the first year at Red Studios at 846 N. Cahuenga Blvd. in Los Angeles — welcome TV Academy members to an elaborate “FYSee Space” at which it will showcase activations and host star-studded panels and performances in promotion of its numerous Emmy hopefuls. The FYSee Space will be open from Friday, May 5 through Friday, May 26.

When former HBO executive Kary Antholis convinced veteran British producer Jane Featherstone to board a project about the Chernobyl disaster, the prospect of such an undertaking was far from a “slam dunk.”
“It had to be pushed over the line,” says Featherstone, “and that was with everybody supporting it.” But in the end, the historical drama from “The Last of Us” showrunner Craig Mazin was, as the producer puts it, a “lucky, lucky call” — and one that richly paid off.
The 2019 HBO and Sky miniseries about the 1986 nuclear catastrophe in Ukraine starring Jared Harris and Emily Watson won multiple Emmy and Golden Globe Awards, and put Featherstone’s new venture, Sister Pictures, on the map.
Few in Britain were surprised when, later that year, the production company expanded into a global studio simply titled Sister. Featherstone, who spent the previous 16 years with the Kudos production banner, partnered with Shine Group...

The actress speaks to Morgan Hoffman in a “One-on-One” special Friday night about being “painfully shy” before she appeared on the cover of the iconic magazine.
Anderson recalls, “The shyness was something that was so debilitating. When I was little, I would wear a hat over my head and pull the hole closed so I could only see out this much.
“I hated the way I looked, I hated everything. I was so shy and I always thought everybody was pretty and I just didn’t have that confidence or self-confidence.
“Then I was in Vancouver and Playboy approached me a few times and I said no. Finally I was in a situation and thought ‘Why not? Let me try this.’ Then I got to L.A. and I was horrified,...

Chicago – How about a Pamela-thon for Valentine’s Day? The 1990s sex symbol Pamela Anderson is going through a current revival with two TV works about her life and a major book release. Photographer Joe Arce of HollywoodChicago.com went through his archives and found four Exclusive Portraits of Pa from 2010.
The onrush of new material about Anderson began with the unauthorized Hulu miniseries, released a year ago, entitled “Pam & Tommy.” The series chronicled the turbulent three year marriage of Anderson and Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee, including the story of the illegal release of their infamous sex tape, and featured Lily James and Sebastian Stan in the title roles. In a counter move, 12 days ago Anderson released her new memoir “Love, Pamela: A Memoir of Prose, Poetry and Truth,” which combines her life story version with her poetry. One sure-fire way to boost viewership? Add a major Marvel flick to your movie lineup. And that’s just what Disney+ did, with the streaming debut of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” pushing the service to the top of Whip Media’s weekly ranker of the most-streamed movies in the U.S., according to data based on followers of WhipMedia’s TV Time, its movie and TV show tracking app with more than 24 million global registered users.
“Wakanda Forever,” after hitting Disney+ on Feb. 1, bumped last week’s top movie, Netflix’s “You People,” down to second place. Its streaming debut came at a critical time for Disney+, too, with Disney reporting on Wednesday that its linchpin service lost 2.4 million customers in its December quarter.
It hasn’t been a red-hot start to 2023 for Disney+, with “Wakanda Forever” being the first Disney+ flick to top Whip Media’s ranker this year.

The VOD charts saw an infusion of new blood with Lionsgate’s “Plane” (19.99) surging ahead in its first week. It ranks #1 at iTunes, #2 on Vudu’s weekly chart (disadvantaged by its Friday release), and #4 at Google Play, which always lags a few days behind.
That puts it ahead of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” (Disney), “Babylon” (Paramount), and “House Party” (Warner Bros. Discovery), all at 19.99. “Wakanda” also streams on Disney+.
“Plane” and “House Party” both came out after their third weekends in theaters. That was expected for “House Party,” the first of several films initially destined for HBO Max but instead debut with less-elevated theatrical play before going to the streaming site.
For “Plane,” it’s an unusual move. The Gerald Butler-produced action film did well in theaters over the three weekends before it added home viewing, but initial response suggests value in moving quickly.
