When news broke in early February that Mariah Carey had booked a return ticket to Las Vegas to mount another residency, it was revealed that she would design the set list as a celebration of her 2005 blockbuster album, The Emancipation of Mimi.
It inspired the title of the exclusive run — The Celebration of Mimi — as well as the timing. Carey took the stage at Park MGM’s Dolby Live to launch the 16-date residency on April 12, 2024, exactly 19 years to the day after the album was released. It’s no surprise Carey wanted to commemorate the 14-track effort, which sold more than 10 million copies worldwide and brought the elusive chanteuse back into familiar territory at the top of the charts. The success of Emancipation of Mimi was fueled by the No. 1 smash “We Belong Together” and punctuated by singles “It’s Like That,” “Shake It Off,” “Get Your Number,” “Don’t Forget About Us,...

P.O.D. have returned with the new song “Drop,” featuring guest vocals from Lamb of God frontman Randy Blythe.
“When you hear it, you know it’s P.O.D.!” declared the band’s Sonny Sandoval, and he’s not wrong. The track touches all the P.O.D. bases. Sandoval’s flow is infectious and tight, and heavy rap-metal breakdowns are balanced against more melodic, alt-rock sections.
Blythe’s cameo occurs in the middle break of the song. He growls and narrates vicious lines while guitarist Marcos Curiel’s riffs build to one of the song’s many drops — the track’s title being very appropriate in this case.
“‘Drop’ is another one of a kind, unparalleled banger that sets this band apart from everyone else,” boasted Sandoval.

A few years before directing Dracula and Freaks, Tod Browning made a silent horror film titled London After Midnight. Starring Lon Chaney as “The Hypnotist,” the 65-minute film was distributed by MGM in December of 1927; though audiences saw it upon release, it’s likely that everyone who did is no longer with us. Sadly, the last known copy was destroyed in the infamous MGM vault fire of 1967, which tragically resulted in the loss of many classic films.
We may never lay eyes on Tod Browning’s London After Midnight, but those who’ve been salivating to experience it may be excited to hear that a full-cast audio drama is on the way.
Scripted Audio Drama producers Lance Roger Axt, Jack Bowman and Kenton Hall have meticulously adapted the original screenplay by Waldemar Young and Tod Browning as an immersive Dolby Atmos aural experience, with the recording taking place over two...

Five years ago today, the world lost Mac Miller at 26. Five years ago Wednesday, I lost my brother Christian at 21. In 2018, I worked for another outlet, and I learned about Mac passing while checking Slack in an attempt to briefly take my mind off the motorcycle accident that took my brother. But I was just inundated with more death.
At the time I pondered writing about whatever symmetry I could think of to get my mind off things. My brother was a rapper like Mac. They were both way too young.

Post Malone posted up at NPR’s office recently to play a delightful Tiny Desk Concert, just a couple of weeks after releasing his latest album Austin.
Posty began the set not with a new track, but with his smash hit “Sunflower.” Outfitted with a band comprising some lush background vocals, strings, piano, and more, the pop-rap crossover got a bit of a saccharine, bluegrass-inspired facelift. After the song wrapped, Post shared his gratitude to NPR for the invitation: “I’m super excited to come on this show, and super nervous — I’m not, actually, never mind,” he said with a heavy dose of sarcasm. “I’m not nervous at all.”
Despite admittedly struggling to give his best vocal performance — “I’m on tour, so my voice is balls right now,” he warned — the proud Dallas Cowboys fan next gave an impassioned rendition of his 2017 ballad “I Fall Apart.” He...

For his NPR Tiny Desk concert debut, Post Malone traced through the journey that led him to his recently released fifth studio album, Austin. Backed by a full band, an orchestra, and four backing vocalists, the musician strummed his guitar through a four-song set list that included “Sunflower,” “I Fall Apart,” “Circles,” and “Enough Is Enough.”

The Amazon Prime Video series “The Summer I Turned Pretty” has made a splash with its loaded soundtrack. By now it is safe to say that “The Summer I Turned Pretty” and Taylor Swift go hand in hand because author and show creator Jenny Han has made it so.
The first season had five Swift songs ranging from her “Lover” album to “Fearless (Taylor’s Version),” and the Season 1 trailer debuted “This Love (Taylor’s Version)” from the yet-to-be-released re-recorded “1989.” Season 2’s teaser was set to “August,” and then the official trailer debuted “Back to December (Taylor’s Version)” shortly before “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)” was released July 7. Only time will tell if Season 2 ties Season 1 for how many Taylor Swift songs it contains.
The sequel season’s summer-y soundtrack also contains hits from repeat artists Olivia Rodrigo, Tyler the Creator, Caroline Polachek and more. A Fleetwood Mac ballad punctuates a particularly emotional scene,...

Jenni Rivera’s children always wondered what sort of music their mom left behind after she tragically died in 2012. What would her music sound like if she was still alive today? What would she have wanted her legacy to be?
Months ago, Rivera’s youngest child Johnny made it his goal to find the original files of some of the recordings he knew she’d stored in her hard drive.
“It was just me and my laptop and the hard drive for two days,” Johnny tells Rolling Stone.

Post Malone has always ricocheted between genres, but his new single “Chemical” — which he co-wrote with Andrew Watt, Billy Walsh, and Louis Bell — takes the rap-rocker all the way into upbeat, sentimental pop. Watch the video above.

His last single, which peaked at number-three on the Billboard Hot 100, was literally called “I Like You (A Happier Song).” And while “Chemical” has a sunny sound, it still tackles darker material with lyrics about being trapped in a toxic relationship: “You break me, then I break my rules / Last time was the last time too / It’s f*cked up, I know, but I’m still / Outside of the party smoking in the car with you.”

Los Angeles, March 25 (Ians) Rapper Post Malone got the much-needed respite as his ‘Circles’ songwriting lawsuit was settled minutes before trial.
The 27-year-old star, his producer Frank Dukes, and Universal Music Group were sued by Tyler Armes in April 2020, who was seeking royalties and other money owed from the 2019 hit as well as asking for co-writer and co-producer credits on the song, reports ‘Female First UK’.
On the same day, the ‘Rockstar’ hitmaker filed a lawsuit of his own to ask a judge to rule the man had no claim to the song’s copyright and was not involved in writing it. However, just moments before Post was due to testify as part of a four-day trial, an agreement was reached.
No details on the settlement were offered to ‘The Hollywood Reporter’ on request.

Post Malone has settled the lawsuit regarding his hit single “Circles” moments before the trial was due to begin.
The musician was being sued for allegedly not crediting the song properly.
Tyler Arms, who claimed he attended an early writing session for the song, said that he was left out of songwriting credits, despite contributing to the song.
Arms said he was originally offered five per cent of the song credits, but when he had tried to negotiate the offer, it was revoked.
However, now an agreement has been settled ahead of a trial, according to US media reports.
Although the exact details have not been disclosed, Rolling Stone reports that the court filing from US District Judge Otis D Wright read that the pair had reached a “settlement” on Tuesday (21 March).

Post Malone has settled a copyright suit from a songwriter who claimed he was denied credit and compensation for his alleged work on 2019’s “Circles.”
Although terms of the settlement deal were not made public, a court filing from U.S. District Judge Otis D. Wright obtained by Rolling Stone Tuesday confirmed that Malone and Tyler Armes had “reached a settlement” and would file dismissal documents imminently.
According to several news outlets present at what would have been the first day of trial, the settlement was reached as a jury was being selected.

Post Malone has settled a copyright suit from a musician alleging he co-wrote 2019 hit “Circles” but was denied credit and compensation, according to a court document filed on Tuesday.
Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed. The court was informed of the agreement during jury selection.
The suit revolved around an August 2018 recording session between plaintiff Tyler Armes, a member of Canadian rock band Down With Webster, and Austin Post, known as Post Malone. Armes said he co-wrote the keyboard chords and the guitar melody and had “significant input” on the bassline. Although the lyrics hadn’t been completed, he claimed all the instrumentation and vocal melodies in the song recorded that night are “note for note rhythmically and melodically identical” to the final version of the song.

Post Malone took a nasty fall at his St. Louis show on Saturday. During his smash hit “Circles,” the rapper and singer fell through an opening in the Enterprise Center stage, and was visibly in a lot of pain.
The opening in question was a trap door meant for lowering his guitar and moving other equipment.
After the wipeout, Malone was helped up by medics and security personnel, and given treatment backstage. He returned just 15 minutes later to finish the show, and stayed afterwards to sign autographs, despite his injuries.
When he made it back to the stage, Malone addressed the concerned crowd. “I want to thank you for your patience,” he said. “And I’m sorry there was a big-a– hole in the stage.”
The singer added an emotional, “I want to say thank you to everybody for hanging in there, and I want to say thank you everybody,...

It finally happened. After teasing their friendship online back in 2020 with a lever-action rifle and a viral Instagram post, Post Malone and Billy Strings performed together onstage. The “Circles” rapper joined the lightning-fast bluegrass picker at the Observatory in Santa Ana, California, for a rollicking cover of “Cocaine Blues,” the cautionary murder song made famous by Johnny Cash.

The Grammys can be a little … unpredictable. “Music’s biggest night” oftentimes makes unexpected decisions and produces head-scratching moments, to say the least. SEE2022 Grammy predictions: Album of the Year Watch out for veterans
Recently there have been a lot of unexpected nominations in the general field for artists who have been around for awhile. But don’t go too old; we’ve seen a lot of older veterans like Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, and Paul McCartney get completely snubbed for recent projects. As 2021 continues to bloom with new music every day, it’s time to start highlighting some early contenders for the 2022 Grammy Awards. Despite this being a weird awards season due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there are a lot of songs that can strike up Grammy glory, and typically the Record and Song of the Year winners come out in the first half of the eligibility period.
First off, a couple of last season’s releases are eligible this year since they weren’t submitted for consideration for the 2019-2020 season. The biggest of these is Cardi B’s “Wap” featuring Megan Thee Stallion, which became a monstrous phenomenon last year and was acclaimed as well. It’s hard to tell “Wap’s” fate. Post Malone’s “Circles” was able to maintain enough hype to get noms a full year after it first hit. However, “Wap” does feel a little old...

The Grammy Award for Song of the Year is the recording academy’s top songwriting honor. The category this year includes a couple of past winners. One is the defending champion, Billie Eilish, who claimed this award in 2020 for “Bad Guy” as part of her historic Grammy sweep. This year she’s nominated for her standalone single “Everything I Wanted,” which she co-wrote with her brother Finneas, her songwriting partner on most of her music. If they win, they’d be the first ever to take this award in consecutive years.
But Beyonce might have something to say about that.

Back in 2013 — fresh from playing bass on what would turn out to be one of Van Halen’s final tours — Wolfgang Van Halen turned his attention to his own music, demoing a song he called “Mammoth,” a nod to one of the early names of his father’s band. “It was the first time I felt like, ‘Yeah, I’m ready to do this,'” Van Halen recalls.
Seven years later, that song is finally coming out on the self-titled debut from Mammoth Wvh, his one-man-band. It drops on June 11th.

The Grammy Award for Record of the Year is the top award to honor an artist’s performance, along with the production and mixing behind a song, as well as to cement that song into music history. This year we have an eclectic mix of record-breaking hits, acclaimed gems, and politically relevant songs that are all vying for their place in Grammy history. Let’s dive in.

With artists like Lady Gaga, Harry Styles and The Weeknd locked out of the top general field categories at the Grammys this year, Taylor Swift is sitting pretty. She earned nominations for Album of the Year (“Folklore“) and Song of the Year (“Cardigan”), and she’s the front-runner to win both based on the combined predictions of Gold Derby users. But that songwriting win might not be as easy for her as we think. It would be unusual when you consider it against recent Grammy history.
“Cardigan” is nominated for Song of the Year but not Record of the Year, which is awarded to the artist, producers and engineers instead of just the songwriters. And it’s tough to win Song without at least being nominated for Record. The last artist to do so was U2, who claimed Song of the Year in 2006 for “Sometimes You Can’t Make it On Your Own.

Los Angeles, Nov 25 (Ians) The 2021 Grammy Awards nominations are all about women power with Beyonce, Taylor Swift and Dua Lipa leading the way.
Beyonce is leading the contender at the 2021 Grammy Awards with nine nods. She is followed by Taylor Swift, Roddy Ricch and Dua Lipa, who earned six nominations each.
