Notable changes were made for the episode when it was aired in Japan. Notably:
- Airachnid's personality is considerably altered; she's now a talkative, vain, boy-crazy romantic. Her pursuit of Jack is rewritten into a Pepe Le Pew parody, as Airachnid makes swooning, seductive comments as she amorously chases him through the forest.
- The images of Airachnid's specimens were removed; rather than hunt endangered alien species, she now collects the heads of "cute boys".
In the Japanese dub, Airachnid is voiced by Ryôka Yuzuki, who had previously voiced Blackarachnia in Beast Wars: Transformers (1996).
With its scratches and angled spikes positioned against burnt trees, Airachnid's ship resembles a hairy spider in one shot.
Fans had become aware of a potential character with the name "Airachnid" when they were informed of an effort made by Hasbro to trademark the name, almost a year before news sources detailed the plot synopsis for this episode. Hasbro failed, since the name had been deemed too similar to that of a figure from a rival toy company. Despite this, the name did get to be used in the cartoon.
This is the first episode not to feature Bulkhead, Optimus Prime, Raf and Miko.
