A matter of morality

It's a Portuguese drama about betrayal and misbehavior in a relationship and the consequences it might have…

The plot is about a beautiful woman, Manuela (played by São Jose Correia), who is close to be 40, that likes to have little affairs with casual men she meets, when her boyfriend (Jose Wallenstein) is out of town. She's doing it one more time, but suddenly something goes wrong… the guy with she is flirting (a medical doctor with a very low self-esteem) commits suicide inside the car she was driving (and which belongs to her boyfriend) when she goes home to pick up something! Manuela gets mad, mostly with the idea of having a dead man inside the car of her boyfriend, and calls her sister (Catarina Wallenstein) to help her to make the body disappear… But it's too late, her boyfriend is already home and he will need to use the car…

I liked the plot (but just after the suicide; before it it's not so good, it has some cheesy and ridiculous lines between Manuela and the medical doctor. From that point the script seemed to be better) and the characters; mostly the ones played by Jose and Catarina Wallenstein. The first one is mysterious, strong, cold and merciless. Catarina plays a very beautiful and seductive young girl that is almost ingenuous… almost…

I also appreciated the dark humor. There isn't a lot, but there're a few good scenes of dark humor. I remember that one when Manuela finds the dead body inside the car and suddenly gets out shouting slang words… or the other scene near the end, the "family dinner" scene…

What surprised me the most was the ending, not because it was good or bad but because it was unexpected and inconclusive! I really was not expecting the film would end on that scene, by that way… I'm not saying it was bad, just saying it was totally open and quite inconclusive
