Good thriller!

Jeff and Lisa have 2 teens, Noah and Ella. Suddenly out of nowhere, a college girl shows up claiming to be Jeff's daughter! But Ella isn't so convinced even after she confirms her paternity with a DNA test and Jeff invites daughter Carlee to live with them! Big mistake and Carlee has ulterior motives. This was a good movie with a good script and definitely recommend!

Dumbest Parents Ever
steenie-6539122 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The premise is predictable but interesting, however, these have got to be the dumbest parents ever. Thank goodness for the kids, especially the daughter, who pick up on cray cray "half sister's" menacing ways. Mom's hair reminds me of 1970's Pete Rose (kind of like when Carrie on The King of Queens got that really bad short hair cut). Did anyone else realize that they were all wearing generic converse sneakers? And that the sinister sister actress is actually 10 years younger that the guy playing her father? From the beginning I knew she was older. 34 years old playing a college student. LOL Not a bad watch but not a great one either.

Sinister stepsister
coltras353 July 2023
Jeff Mitchell seems to have it all: an interesting and lucrative job, a loving wife, and two amazing kids. Life is good. And then, one bright day, a cosmic sucker punch comes from out of the blue. When Jeff was in high school, unbeknownst to him, he got his girlfriend pregnant. The girl moved away, had the baby, and raised her as a single mother, never telling her daughter, Carlee, who her real father was. However, Carlee's mother recently died in a tragic accident, prompting Carlee to try and uncover the truth.

Just by looking at the title you know it's going to be about a stepsister who isn't really a stepsister and has two bolts missing from a spanner to boot, and kills, manipulates and falsely accuses her 'sister'''s boyfriend of giving her a neck bite - it treads the well worn path of a Lifetime Thriller but it still enjoyable and has some heart stopping moments. Annika Foster plays the psycho stepsister, and does well, Tu Morrow plays the cutie half-sister who uncovers the truth about her deranged sibling.

Lifetime
svader14 March 2022
It would take me a Lifetime to list all that is bad about this movie.

Terrible acting.

Unbelievable characters and a daft story that has been done many times previously but better.

Apparently in highschool Jeff had a thing and the ex girlfriend had a daughter. However Jeff is 47 and the daughemter is 34 in real life and looks it! . . .

Then Jeff's real daughter is 20/21 and is wearing a school uniform if a 14 year old lol . ..

Nonsense bets bypassed.

Half-sister, not stepsister FFS. But I liked it.

Warning: Spoilers
First of all it's not a stepsister. It's a half-sister. Doh.

But I liked it. It was predictable but good. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would.

I could tell early on that the real daughter I was going to be the one to figure out what was really happening. She had an interesting spark and the actress Tu Morrow did a great job. The parents were very likeable but kinda oblivious. I especially liked the actress who played the Mom Lisa Mitchell. She was kind, interesting and thoughtful, although gullible. The little boy (Noah? Played by Dane Jarrah) was absolutely charming and sweet. I liked his character more and more as the film continued and especially his role near the end when he became suspicious of Carrie.

The confrontation was really well done. And I'm glad the teenage boyfriend Ryan (Johan Gran) character did not get killed off this time. He was fun. A horndog, but fun.

Did Carrie die in the cellar? It wasn't clear, but I assume so.

What
darkmomo-8183121 May 2023
Man I am over halfway through this movie and it is trash. At first it was good with the basic set up. A girl who lost her mother finds the father she never knew she had. She just wants to be close to a family and blah blah blah. At first, like I said, GOOD! And then it quickly went off the rails. Ell is annoying af. I don't care how "smart" she is for having an "off" feeling about Cari whatever, it's just plain terrible how annoying and screechy she is. It instantly made me hope she got murdered honestly. The story line starts going all over the place at this point too. I was really hoping for that thriller/mystery, what happened to her mom and who is she type of feeling, but with 40 mins left to go and me laughing at the stupidity of the parents and the dumb repeating of already known things by characters, I don't have much hope.

A Nostalgic View of Family
lavatch27 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
In an era in which the concept of a family has been disintegrating, it was refreshing to watch a film that depicted the inherent human elements of the nuclear family.

Samantha Ridge bounced around in foster homes that led her to crave the comfort of a genuine family. She was possessed to murder and impersonate Carlee Byrne and worm her way into the lives of the Mitchell clan. Were it not for the quick-thinking young step-sister Ella, Carlee might have pulled off her power play.

The strength of the film was in the excellent performances with actors who fully inhabited the characters. There was also crisp direction with interesting settings and camera angles. One of the best scenes was when little Noah has discovered the goods on Samantha and is hiding under her bed. The sequence was filmed from Noah's angle looking at a pair of legs when Samantha enters the room.

The closing scene was moving in the depiction of the Mitchells, who have learned from this experience how much they appreciate the special feeling of family.
