Not scary, but stupid funny
porsche-bush20 June 2011
I only watched this movie because I am a huge fan of genre specific comedy/horror b-films. Of course all of these years in the b movie business they put porn stars such as the beautiful Alexis Texas in this flick. The camera quality is poor, not to a standard A list movie. But there have been numerous B-movies that I have seen that use better direction and film quality. The best acting is achieved by miss Texas in this film. but it still lacks the quality of good actors and production. It just seems too much like a softcore, cinemax late night pornography flick. I give miss Texas a 10/10 for her acting just because she has expeirence in the film industry. But the other actors are just horrible. I would suggest this film to an Alexis Texas fan, but other than that its a complete waste of time to watch.

Fun B movie Zombie-esque
robertebritt13 January 2012
Well, what can you say about this that hasn't been said already? I enjoyed it! That's different, huh? As said before this is a micro-budget zombie film made with a no name cast. okay, maybe Alexis Texas is a name somewhere, but probably not really. I have to give kudos to people pursuing their passions and actually getting a film made and on IMDb and streaming through Netflix is an accomplishment.

The movie was corny and porny. The plot was weak and rehashed, but if you watch it just for the ridiculous "sex" scenes and fantasy scenes, plus add the squirting bright red blood...well, have a few drinks or hallucinogenics and it's a fun watch. If you are a fan of Ed Wood you'll probably like Bloodlust Zombies.

Oh and a shout out to the temp, Lauren Todd. Nice work. you added some sincere laughs which I think were actually supposed to be funny.

No, just no...

Right, well anything with zombies is bound to draw my attention. And thus it was when I stumbled upon the 2011 movie "Bloodlust Zombies". And never having heard about it, and seeing it was a zombie movie, of course I had to give it a chance.

However, I must admit that I wasn't harboring any expectations to the movie, as it just wasn't a movie that screamed high end production. But still, I gave writer and director Dan Lantz the benefit of the doubt.

I should have saved myself the time and trouble, because "Bloodlust Zombies" was not a good movie. This was a low budget movie, and I was assuming that, given the movie's cover. But it is not one of those low budget zombie movies that turned out to be great and enjoyable, nay. This movie was just downright not entertaining.

The acting performances in "Bloodlust Zombies" were dubious. And you know that when you have nudity within the first minutes of a movie, then you're not really in for anything worthwhile. And I have to say that I didn't even manage to sit this one through to the end. The storyline was just too boring and poorly written to provide me with entertainment.

Needless to say that I wasn't familiar with the cast ensemble in the movie. Nor can I claim to say that I was impressed with the dubious acting that I witnessed.

Visually then you're not in for any displays of great special effects. But hey, at least they tried. But again, this was a low budget movie, and it definitely showed on the screen.

If you enjoy zombie movies, like I do, then do yourself a favor and spare yourself the anguish. Some of us suffered through "Bloodlust Zombies" so you don't have to.

My rating of "Bloodlust Zombies" lands on a two out of ten stars.

I didn't spend a dime to view this but still feel like I lost money!
surfer31220 June 2011
I can't really see, other than the awful camera angles and even worse acting, where they spent any of the $75,000 budget on this "film".

This piece of cinematic garbage reminds me of most porn I've seen "professionally" made since the 1990's - very little substance, horrible props, stock footage, cheesy acting, and the worst soft-core grinding I've viewed since the old Cinemax movies of the early 1990's.

I think that since they secured the talents of Alexis Texas, porn "actress", they figures they had something to work on here. The majority of the cast have come from many other low-budget disasters and their acting chops are, let's just say, something to be desired.

Boardroom scenes in mainstream movies always look intimidating, or so in your face, the scenes here made me laugh the most - and who has cobalt blue plastic flutes sitting around for domestic champagne? To tell you any of the plot would give away pretty much everything, so I won't - let's just say if you were to take the movies Outbreak, 30 Days Later, Shaun Of The Dead and a few pieces of softcore stuff and toss them into a blender, strip them of any budget and then pour it into a DVD this would be the result.

Shoddy production values, a script with plots so old you can see the whip marks from where the last 10 owners had whipped it, combined with the "acting" talents of Alexis Texas (with the only thing she's good at: stripping down and showing off T&A) and you have a movie with worse viewing appeal than Poseidon, Waterworld and Gigli combined - and will have much less people wanting to watch this for anything except the floppy tiny "talents" of Alexis Texas.

God, what a stupid stripper name... at least everyone else in this turkey is using their 'real' names... I think...

Avoid this at all costs, no matter what they pay you to watch it for.

Sorry i spent a dollar!
wise-guyy20 June 2011
I understand the reason for $10.000 dollar films and the market for dollar rentals. This is America and it's your right to spend the dollar if you choose to. The market for super cheap films to stuff the machines sprouting across the nation is growing at an alarming rate. The writing here in this film is very, very bad and the acting matches it, in that respect they go together well. The cutting of scenes from a subject and or character in and out are frustrating. I am not a hater of low budget productions, i have enjoyed quite a few of them and yes some films are of course meant to be campy or not sincere to the art of the film industry but there are limits. Save your money..

Terrible, excruciating, freaking funny as hell.
miller-jmiller-jason13 November 2011
What to say, what to say. Well, first off, the acting sucks more than a fire engine pumphouse. The lighting needs to be seriously evaluated. The special effects are worse than in that three dollar video game for your Nintendo DS you bought last year.

The scenes jump around sporadically and it is extremely hard to tell what is going on. The main character, Alexis Texas, has so little screen time (even though it's both really good and really bad), you would not even think she was the main character. The storyline has a fair idea and a mild approach to the setting.

A few good points: 1.) Alexis Texas is super super hot. A few exotic scenes are displayed with her, likely for rating purposes, that are actually quite humorous. She is also a total bad-@$$ when fighting zombies with an ax. 2.) The hilariousness of it all. The special effects are entirely worthless yet so comical you cannot help but laugh at them. There are parts that make you laugh your @$$ off. I myself was busting out ROTFLOL, if you catch my drift. The parts that were meant to be funny sucked so much they caught a giggle. The scenes without humour actually ended up being funny.

But then it suddenly ends. Classic, cheesy ending with an Alfred Hitchcock twist (kind like "The Birds). A rate it 10 out of 10 just because it made me laugh and tried hard to fail (succeeding to fail means failing at failing to succeed to fail?) So yeah. Very short, very pointless, very VERY low budget. Go watch if you need dumb humour and are 18+ years old. Lots of Tig Ol' Bitties. (There's a reason Alexis Texas is a pr0n star.)

Terrible, waste of time.
explosive-348-33108423 April 2012
The only reason this film is getting 1 star is because there is no option for 0 stars.

Do not waste any time watching this movie, the performances are just horrendous, script is just 'eugh'. Sometimes I wonder why people decide to even make films like this and waste $75k. I understand Alexis Texas is supposed to be a famous porn star no offense but she should stick to that industry.

There are two reasons someone might watch this; 1. To inflict self torture. 2. To put themselves to sleep.

I know this review is harsh and I probably would not have wrote this review but I feel it is my duty to humanity to prevent innocents souls from being inflicted with the torture that is 'Bloodlust Zombies'.

I can't find a word to describe it..
kimjarman1923 December 2011
I had to give it a 1 out of 10 because it would not let me give it a 0. How can this terrible thing be classed as a "film"? It's downright embarrassing, I felt embarrassed for how awkward the filming must've been with the appalling actors, the whole storyline was the stupidest thing I have ever followed.. it's one of those films that makes me want that wasted time back.

I'm not going to spoil it for anyone who stills goes through with it and watches this, there's nothing to really spoil, it's that bad.

Worst "zombie" "film" I've seen, ever. And for whoever likes zombie films and has watched most of them, you know there are some really embarrassingly bad ones out there already, and this beats them all.

Flawed, But Clearly Has Its Moments
gavin69425 July 2011
A military weapons manufacturer creates a chemical weapon that causes victims to become blood-lusting killers. A lab accident causes the building to go into lock-down and the employees are trapped inside with the crazed killers.

The first thing I noticed about this film was the terrible acting, especially from the man who plays Bobby Lee (Robert Heath). But once you adjust to that (if you need to adjust), the movie is really quite fun. It is clear that the point of it all is to be a horror comedy, perhaps in a similar vein as "The Janitor". And while few films can reach the level of "The Janitor", this one has its moments.

I need to talk about Alexis Texas' breasts (and more). I did not know who Texas was going into this film. I am more of a Dani Woodward fan. But as a 4-time AVN Award winner, I figured they had to showcase her talents somehow. And I was right. If you came to this movie to see Texas in action, you will get it (up to a point). Which raises an interesting question -- should porn stars going mainstream give audiences what they expect (like here) or try to really show their acting chops (like Marilyn Chambers in "Rabid", for example)?

Texas says, "I really learned a lot from this experience." I am very curious what that would be. I suspect a low-budget film is not much different than porn. A bit more acting, and you get doused in fake blood, but otherwise what was there to learn? Maybe that you can call something "champagne" even though it is Andre brand? Or that the classic "Girl From Ipanema" in the elevator joke never fails to make me laugh?

The best part of the film for me was the temp, played by Lauren Todd. I did not care much for her potty mouth, but she was quirky and spiced the film up. She was unconventionally cute and just had emotion and spunk that the other characters did not have. She makes me, a former philosophy major, wonder, do rent-a-cops have a "duty" or "moral obligation" to kill zombies? I would say no.

Why did the film give thanks to the Foo Fighters? Maybe this is something better left unknown.

Lust and Zombies
kosmasp14 August 2020
Which translates into Blood and nudtiy. But also some jokes thrown in for good measure. Now not high quality jokes, rather the silly kind, but what would you expect from a movie with a title like that? I would say overall it is decent. There have been worse movies than this, but of course there have been better movies also.

If you don't mind certain things, this can be entertaining. But as said, don't be squeamish or easily offended. B-movie if there ever was one. Acting wise it is fine, I'd say but you may disagree. This may be another one of those "I'm too nice" cases when it comes to rating. But I think you can see they are being silly and there's nothing wrong with that

Americans should be banned from making zombie flicks.
AnusPresley14 January 2023
This genre was perfected and nailed down by the Italians decades ago. They were wise enough to know when a good thing is over.

America, on the other hand is stupid, and, like grease burgers, keeps churning it out whether you want it or not...

I was attracted to this by Alexis Texas. Not worth it. Pirate her porn flicks, much more entertaining.

This isn't even entertaining drunk viewing. Yeah you see some boobs. Ho hum. Over-acting isn't even over-acting, just dull. Splatter is equally dull. Why was this made? Someone got an idiot to fund it.

I had had more fun at funerals. Don't assume bad revues make this bad cinema "interesting". It's just crap.

Hear me out before judging me of giving this ten stars...
MisterHOH10 July 2011
Judging this thing at film standards would be like blaming a duck for not knowing second degree equations or like judging Mr. Spielberg's work in horticulture.

I am sure that the cast and the crew are all around great guys in their personal lives, but when it comes down to film they are incompetent. If you chop it into small web-isodes, this "film" wouldn't even get thumbs up as a weekly podcast on YT.

Let's see: Script - appalling; Acting - appalling; Lightning - appalling; Visual and Special Effects - appalling, Editing - Oh my God; Music - appalling; Sound Design - almost nonexistent.

The main star of the movie, Alexis Texas, has fewer scenes than other supporting cast members, which is ridiculous to say the least. It is also a shame because she has that "je ne sais quoi" quality about her.

Having said that, it is very easy to bash in pixels and diminish someone's work and though I felt that it would deserve a harsh review, I changed my mind and here is why I decided to write the most positive criticism I can about this "film"..

I sat and watched heroically throughout the entire thing and there were moments where I actually burst into uncontrollable laughter because all the deliberately funny scenes were completely lacking any amusement and the more serious scenes were actually creating involuntary humor through really bad acting and writing. It is sad really, and I feel bad for laughing because the director who is also the writer was trying hard to convey totally different emotions, but had no clue on how to do it. Working my way through the shear nonsense that fills this "film" and bypassing the enormity of the "action", I could faintly distinct and resonate with few very nice and grand ideas that the director tried to tackle. Of course he failed miserably but skill is something you gain mostly by failing not by winning. It is meaningless to go on trying to find other constructive criticism to write about this "movie", because there is nothing else good in it, as the rest is just a big pile of wasted film.

I've seen a lot of very bad movies that have no redeeming qualities that deserve bad reviews, but in this case I really felt that there was -at least at some point- a good will and a sincere spirit to create something good and enjoyable. Unfortunately, in the way that it exists today, Bloodlust Zombies cannot be considered more than a draft cut of a B flick.

If it makes any sense, I recommend this film only to those that like to gather among friends and comment B(ad) movies for some genuine giggles, or to those more serious persons who have enough patience necessary to find and glimpse a beautiful idea drowned in an ocean of junk.

Call me crazy but here is ten out of ten stars from me only for encouragement and a faint hope of something better to come in the next years from the same director.

comon, it's a zombie flick!
tle-113 November 2011
everyone is so ready to bash this zombie film. are they looking for the next Titanic? comon, it's a B-film. One location, b-actors, best-equipment-they-can-get for their budget, and a beautiful pornstar. this was on Netflix instant streaming so when i selected, i knew i was watching a low-budget comedy horror film. I watched it with a smile on my face ready to laugh or be amused. i didn't know who Alexis was, but did some research, and now i know. i have to admit, there were some scenes where she did a good job acting. Some scenes, not so much, but it was the script that asked too much from her. I think she will be a good actress over time, with clothes on. the other actors did the best they could to deliver comedy in a scary situation, that's all. death doesn't matter, comedy does. okay, so there wasn't much to the story, but some of the writing, i have to admit, was entertaining, like the shoot out between the sleezy guy and temp girl. so comon people, just enjoy fun mindless entertainment and not demand Gladiator. And comon, you got to see Alexis!

Fun low-budget zombie effort
kannibalcorpsegrinder28 October 2019
Testing a new chemical serum, a pharmaceutical company celebrating the success of its newest creation are accidentally locked inside during a spill which turns the workers into ravenous, infected zombies and forces the remaining workers to band together to survive the situation.

This one was a rather enjoyable zombie effort. Among the better features here is the far more impressive setup that has a lot going for it. The main notion here is the corporation planning the chemical to be for the greater good of the country as it's intended to allow the enemy soldiers to kill themselves and keep the US out of the area to do so, which gives this a more worthwhile and noble cause than the vast majority of such corporations. That the eventual inevitable outbreaks occur through the actions of the film's namesake star brought in for that very reason and ties in very well with the security protocols they go through which is where this one has a lot to like due to the realistic nature they utilize that factor to build to that outbreak. That outbreak is where this one hits its stride by providing plenty of fun. The ravenous action of the zombie-like creatures means there's so much to like with the various battles that take place in various locations around the building as the creatures overwhelm the uninfected. That they manage to introduce logical ambushes based on the twisting corridors for the nice shock attack is a great touch as that brings about the strong low-budget indie gore and far more effective comedy than expected since the situations shouldn't be allowing for wisecracks and jokes. There's a great sense of fun to have the mix here, and the frenzied running time keeps this all together to put a fine charge into a routine effort. There's also a rather interesting idea here to try to provide some character development throughout here. The sexpot secretary is given the ability to know technical issues and problem-solving which goes against her stereotypical appearance, and there's a great moment where her desire to remain a subservient trophy for sugar daddies is rightfully questioned. Instead of fury, though, the idea resonates with her to the point that she strives to empower herself against the zombies and fuels the final half where that change in behavior is what signals her change in perspective. As well, the attempts to change the horndog accountant is a big change that is a nice idea to attempt since it changes the format of pairing everyone off through the circumstances, so all in all the only real issue is the low-budget nature that pops up from time-to-time.

Rated R: Graphic Violence, Graphic Language, Nudity and a sex scene.

Low budget but fun enough
ta-606445 June 2023
If you are actually hoping for a top notch "zombie flick" then you are ill informed. You know going in that this is going to be a B movie with almost no budget. That makes the only hope to be that the entertaining moments will out number the annoying ones. I'd recommend only streaming it for free but if you have a couple hours to kill on a day where it is too hot or too cold to go outside then why not. If you aren't able to relax and enjoy what makes B movies fun, then skip it.

It has funny moments throughout, some intentional, some not. And for the most part they all gave it a good effort for the budget and equipment they had.

If it's a joke, it's lost on me.
Slowblivion25 October 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Alright before I get into the various things that are wrong in this video... I emphasize video... I think the only thing that was a positive is Lauren Todd. (it wasn't a big positive but for not having any credits to her name, i thought she was kind of funny and do hope to see her in more films) She played the temp in case you don't know the name.

With that said, wow... trash.

It's a cheap movie which is a fact that is abundantly clear given the security control room is clearly also an editing suite. (you can see the multichannel sound board and an AVID keyboard as well as what looks like a waveform or vectorscope... not entirely sure which)

This is supposed to be a high tech/high security facility for a group that develops chemical weapons for the military, so why are all the rooms painted like a fun house? One scene contains a red wall, a blue wall, a yellow wall and a white wall.

The acting is bad but if you look closely, you may understand why they all looked absolutely lost through the whole film. The director, Dan Lantz, was also an actor, also the writer, also the director of photography and producer. It's pretty clear to me that it's hard to give actors the attention needed to get decent performances when you're time is split between 5 different jobs. I wouldn't be surprised if there are other jobs he's not credited for that he was doing. Is that an excuse? no, but it explains a lot.

Large sections of the film is chattering between characters who reveal nothing and progress the story in no way at all. (temp talking to the sex hound guy) (alexis Texas talking to the boss lady)... In fact, no one seems all that worried about the impending death that awaits them so you don't ever feel bad when they die and when they don't, you're upset.

I get that this is supposed to be jokey and fun but the jokes fall to pieces really quick. Lighting is bad, the music is ridiculous, editing is awful. The nudity is tasteless and forced in so much that it makes you wonder why the director/writer/actor/director of photography etc didn't just skip the story and have a 20 minute video of girls running around topless. (I guess one has to justify the nudity with story) The writing is bad enough it seems like it was written as the film was going with only a loose premise holding it all together.

If movies are made with the idea that it will probably be bad one has to beg the question, why are you making it at all? And if you're going to make a "zombie" movie, they have to be zombies, not mutants. So in the credits, don't list the cast as ZOMBIES/MUTANTS....

I give it 2, 1 because it's the lowest I can go, and the second because I think Lauren Todd was alright....

MY ROOM MY RULES
nogodnomasters30 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This is a very low budget zombie film which features adult film star Alexis Texas in a slightly less than adult role. A bio-hazard lab has an oops which leads to infected zombies etc. All the action takes place within the building and we get to see much of the same rooms over and over again. The film is horribly acted with camp dialouge. Newcomer Lauren Todd was my favorite of the bad actors spouting out MF bombs with a librarian face. The blood was abundant and squirting. The gun fire was poor CG.

The respirators they use make it difficult for normal voice communication so they dubbed themselves.

Parental Guide: F-bomb, sex, nudity (Alexis Texas, Jordana Leigh, Amanda Scarano) So bad it is good.

Just created an account to say: (sorry about the poor review) This movie is crap. This is the kind of movie that you want to see because is so awful that is funny to see how they constantly fail in various attempts to copy some great movies scenes, some classic scenes, the WHOLE acting and the camera angles and movements. Finally i decided this movie worth to watch because this will perfectly teach you what is am horrible horrible (x100) movie in all aspects... (sorry about my poor English) ;) (i don't know about the director but i really hope this is his first movie because is a big and heavy learned from my fail... and if that phrase works he will turn 180 degrees in his work....
