Rob Lowe and Pauline Quirke, together at last! Sky One's You, Me And The Apocalypse has that and plenty more to recommend it…
The original title of Sky/NBC’s new comedy drama was sacrificed to the gods of transatlantic appeal. Apparently Us audiences aren’t familiar enough with English boroughs just off the M4 for Apocalypse Slough to work (Apocalypse Slu-ff? Slo-oo?), hence the change to something more generic.
Thankfully, that seems to have been the only thing flattened in translation, because title aside, You, Me And The Apocalypse is a blast. Pun intended.
Mat Baynton (Horrible Histories, The Wrong Mans) is likeable as ever in the role of Slough bank manager Jamie Winton, the routine-loving straight man to his feckless, hedonistic housemate, Dave (Joel Fry). Yes, it’s a bit in debt to Peep Show, but these two soon have much more to worry about than Mark and Jez ever did.

To clarify, this article and the ones similar to it are not reviews of this fall/midseason’s pilots (because pilots can change a lot between now and when they broadcast). These are just my first impressions of the not-for-air network pilots that I have been able to screen. I last wrote about ABC’s Quantico. Next up: The CW’s Containment, which premieres at midseason. The Premise: An epidemic breaks out in Atlanta, leaving the large city quarantined and those stuck on the inside fighting for their lives. The Cast: David Gyasi (Interstellar) as Lex, Chris Wood (The Vampire Diaries) as Jake Riley, Christina Marie Moses (Twisted) as Jana, Kristen Gutoskie (Beaver Falls) as Katie Frank, Claudia Black (The Originals) as Dr. Sabine Lommers, and Hanna Mangan Lawrence (Spartacus) as Teresa First Impression: Julie Plec is quickly becoming the Shonda Rhimes of The CW, and that’s not a bad thing.

The CW officially ordered three new dramas on Thursday afternoon, but the big news is the pick-up we all already new was coming. The "Flash"/"Arrow" spinoff has officially been ordered to series and after having been called various permutations on "untitled," it finally has a title: Say hello to "DC's Legends of Tomorrow." I'll remind you of the details on "Legends of Tomorrow" in a minute, but The CW also ordered "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" and "Cordon" to series. Since The CW already has 10+ returning shows on tap for the 2015-2016 season, the network isn't announcing schedule timetables or episode counts yet. We'll see if that news comes at The CW's upfront presentation to advertisers next Thursday. Let's get details: "DC's Legends of Tomorrow" focuses on time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter, who has to recruit a rag-tag team of heroes and villains to help prevent an apocalypse that could impact not only Earth,...

James Mangold, who directed The Wolverine and Walk The Line, is in talks to helm Fox 2000's big screen biopic of NFL quarterback Joe Namath. Michael Brandt and Derek Haas, who worked with Mangold on 3:10 to Yuma, are writing the screenplay.
Namath is one of the most beloved and revered figures in New York sports history. He was the first football player to achieve rock-star status, and is well-known for his colorful persona and statement fur coats, which he wore on the sidelines.
The biopic will tell the story of how the "golden-armed kid from Beaver Falls, Pa., became 'Broadway Joe,' the New York Jets quarterback and '60s cultural figure." Namath gained the nickname 'Broadway Joe' because he was a notorious party boy and womanizer.
The film is being produced by Fox 2000's Elizabeth Gabler and Tree Line Films' Cathy Konrad and Andrew Lazar.

Back in July last year a nationwide casting call was launched to find some new talent for Legacy, a new film from Unstoppable Entertainment and Think Big Productions.
Exec Produced by Noel Clarke (4.3.2.1, The Anomaly) and Jason Maza (The Knot, The Hooligan Factory) Legacy tells the story of five teenagers and the ultimate party of the year.
After auditioning hundreds of girls with no previous professional experience, Amy Tyger from Manchester won the lead female role of Dani. 21 year old Amy is now represented by Cole Kitchenn.
Dani is strong willed, fierce, aggressive yet still lovable, she is protective and more than a match for the groups’ machismo. She’s an attractive tomboy with deep-rooted femininity issues exacerbated by her elder sister Yasmin.
21 year old Franz Drameh (represented by Hamilton Hodell) plays Sean, the unspoken leader of the group.

Sam Robertson has said that he would like to return to Coronation Street. The Beaver Falls star originally joined the soap in 2004 as Adam Barlow, the grandson of Ken Barlow. However, he stated that he "wasn't a very good actor" during his days on the ITV1 drama, which he left in 2007. "I wasn't a very good actor back then. It's as simple as that," he told the Daily Star. "I was getting recognised all the time and getting all this attention but I didn't think I had earned it. I knew I was doing a pretty s**t job and I was too scared to learn on the job. "I was in it for two and a half years and I did definitely improve because I had never acted before in my life. But it was some of the worst Corrie acting, to be fair." (more)...
