For fifty-nine episodes, Sophie Turner played the role of Sansa Stark on the hit series Game of Thrones. For sixty-two episodes, Kit Harington played the role of Jon Snow on that same show. And now Turner and Harington are set to work together again, as Deadline reports that they have both signed on to star in the Gothic horror film The Dreadful! This film is coming our way from writer/director Natasha Kermani, who has previously directed the thriller Shattered, the sci-fi drama Imitation Girl, and the horror film Lucky, as well as multiple short films and a segment of the horror anthology V/H/S/85.
The Dreadful will be set against the backdrop of the War of the Roses, which took place from 1455 to 1487. The story follows Anne (Turner) and her mother-in-law Morwen, who live a solitary, harsh life on the outskirts of society. But when a man (Harington) from their past returns,...

“Barbie” (Warner Bros.), the year’s biggest hit, had some competition its third week out on PVOD (for rent at $24.99), and it’s coming from within its own house.
“Blue Beetle,” from Warners’ DC Comics division, actually took #1 at Vudu — even more impressive since it ranks by revenue, putting the $19.99 “Beetle” at a disadvantage. It placed #3 at Google Play, which often is slower to note new releases. “Barbie” remains #1 at iTunes and Google Play.
Three other new titles debuted this week, led by “Gran Turismo” (Sony), as high as #2 at Vudu. Also at $19.99, “My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3” (Focus) also placed on two charts. It’s #4 at Vudu after its third weekend in theaters.
“Muzzle” (Rlj), a direct-to-home release landed at #6 at iTunes at a $6.99 rental. Taking the “John Wick” plot about a man seeking revenge after his dog is killed, this stars Stephen Lang and Aaron Eckhardt.

I’ve watched enough Doctor Who to know time is a complicated construct with rules fluctuating from one interpretation to the next. Thankfully, Rhys Darby’s Casper has time travel all figured out in Relax, I’m From the Future, a new time-traveling comedy that finally breaks the multiversal merry-go-round we’ve been riding for the past few years. In today’s exclusive Relax, I’m From the Future clip, Casper dismisses the Butterfly Effect and misinformation about multiple realities.
The scene finds Casper and Holly (Gabrielle Graham) discussing multiversal misnomers in a dimly lit diner over piping hot mugs of jitter juice. Casper explains how there’s only one reality, and that time is more like a mushy blob than anything we’ve seen in movies. Doc Brown lied to us, folks! Oh, the humanity! While branching paths in the timeline exist, they eventually converge in the same direction, leading toward a pre-determined future.

When he’s not pining for Blackbeard’s embrace on Our Flag Means Death or reprimanding werewolves for using foul language, Rhys Darby fights for the future of humankind! Blue Fox Entertainment‘s Relax, I’m From The Future trailer is here to tickle your ribs after the long Labor Day weekend. The sci-fi comedy hails from Luke Higginson for his feature directorial debut. In addition to operating the camera, Higginson wrote the screenplay and edited the film inspired by his short film of the same name that premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival 10 years ago.
In the Relax, I’m From The Future trailer, Darby stars as Casper, a time traveler trapped in the past who befriends Holly (Gabrielle Graham), a jaded drifter. They exploit his knowledge of the future, oblivious to the consequences they have set in motion, while a more competent time traveler, Doris (Janine Theriault), tries to stop them.

The classic rock genre would look drastically different today if not for The Beatles. Heck, 21st-century pop music wouldn’t be what it is without the Fab Four. They became trendsetters and tastemakers when they became international stars in 1964. Even the English language changed because of their influence. That’s why The Beatles’ AI song seems like a desperate move to remain relevant.
The Beatles making an AI song seems like a play to show they’re still cutting edge
Paul McCartney announced The Beatles’ AI song in June 2023 and planned to release it later the same year. Macca planned to use computer technology to lift John Lennon’s voice from a well-worn demo tape for “Now and Then” and finish the song with help from artificial intelligence.
The die-hard fans will surely eat it up. The bank accounts of Paul, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono, and Olivia Harrison stand to benefit.

After a tumultuous return to his family’s hole-in-the-wall Chicago restaurant, chef Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White) and his staff transform the greasy sandwich joint into a first-class dining experience after he discovers the slush fund his brother left behind. Despite having the extra money to make his dreams a reality, the future proves to be both a personal and professional challenge for Carmy and the crew.
Watch the trailer for Season 2 of “The Bear”:
Beginning on June 14, the new series continuation of the beloved film “The Full Monty” arrives on Hulu. Everyone likes everything now. In the years since streaming began to dominate listening habits, this twisted mantra has taken over the music industry, driven more by the desire for some algorithmic utopia than reality. Because everyone has access to everything, the theory goes, they must automatically like it all. It’s a credo at the very core of the mindset of the new look, pop-leaning Reading & Leeds festival. And today, everyone-likes-everything-now (Elen) comes up against its ultimate test.

Undisputed Argentine shock-and-awe royalty, Tamae Garateguy, is set to begin filming her next feature, “Auxilio” (“Help”). The shoot, an Argentine-Colombian co-production, will start in August and take advantage of locations throughout Buenos Aires.
“Buenos Aires is a vital protagonist. I think it’s a very cinematic city, with neighborhoods that are just as they were 200 years ago, others are the same as they were 50 years ago,” said Garateguy.
The premise promises a horrifying glance at an onerous era that saw the country’s first military coup. Nuns, the wrongfully committed and supernatural forces collide to comment on the torture women suffer at the hands of unjust and unrelenting societies.

The human race has always been obsessed with the erotic. From carvings on the walls of Pompeii to Fifty Shades of Grey, we’ve always been drawn to the sensual and sexy things. Romantic comedy Book of Love explores our relationships with love and all things erotic.
Directed by Analeine Cal y Mayor, Book of Love revolves around author Henry Copper who’s fledging romance novel The Sensible Heart is failing in the United Kingdom. Despite being about romance, the book is surprisingly without any eroticism or sex and sales are not great. Except for Mexico, where the book is a huge success. However, it turns out, his translator Maria has taken liberties with the Spanish version of the book – adding a lot of romps and sex. As Henry tours the country under this subterfuge, his time with Maria is about to undo his chastity way of thinking.

Like the echo of a distant time, a dozen previously unreleased Pink Floyd albums quietly surfaced on streaming services this week. All of the concerts occurred between 1970 and 1972, covering the period in which the band released Atom Heart Mother (1970), Meddle (1971), and Obscured by Clouds (1972), and had already begun playing songs from Dark Side of the Moon (1973).
One recording — a March 1972 Tokyo gig — features a near-complete performance of Dark Side in sequence, a full year before its release. The songs are loose and jammy in a way not heard on the studio version.

Though it will forever be associated with one brief mid-1970s heyday, the disaster-movie genre has made a stealth comeback in recent years, being a natural fit for a cinematic era dominated by CGI-laden action fantasies. Of course Hollywood has kept its hand in, with efforts like “San Andreas” and “Pompeii.” But there have also been parries as far afield as China, whose enjoyably ridiculous, volcano-centric “Skyfire” from late 2019 only reached the U.S. this year.
No country has been as assiduous in reviving that Charlton Heston spirit, however, as Norway — which has produced just three so far, but then that’s a not-inconsiderable share of its big-budget feature output in recent years. First there was the rockslide/avalanche/tsunami/flood whammy of 2015’s “The Wave,” then its self-explanatory 2018 sequel “The Quake.” Now there’s “The Tunnel,” unrelated to the aforementioned save that it obviously wouldn’t have been made...

It’s fitting that a song about doing it yourself is the only track in Rolling Stone‘s year-end Top 50 chart to be penned by a single writer. The song in question, Tones and I’s “Dance Monkey,” was inspired by busking, which is exactly what the Australian artist — born Toni Watson — quit her job to do for the sake of following her dream.
Watson writes all of her own music, which is a rarity these days, but especially in popular music. Billie Eilish’s “When the Party’s Over” was...

Everything I know about the “Monster Hunter” video game series is contained in Paul W.S. Anderson’s big-screen adaptation of the franchise, “Monster Hunter.” There will be critics who can tell you who these characters are, or what’s up with the “new world” where monsters live, or why those of us in the “old world” should be worried about them, but that information is not presented in this visually interesting but narratively anemic motion picture, so please accept my apologies in advance: This review will likely be about as coherent as the film itself.
Milla Jovovich, who is married to Anderson and has starred in six of his “Resident Evil” movies (four of which he directed), wrapped that franchise a few years back and could use another. Patriotic Chinese viewers flexed their muscles this weekend to topple Paul W.S. Anderson’s “Monster Hunter,” which grossed just $4.8 million before it was pulled from cinemas due to complaints that interpreted a line of dialogue to be racist and “insulting to China.”
In a slow week, however, that was enough to net it a fifth place open, even though cinemas had entirely pulled the title from their line-ups by early Saturday. The result is assuredly disappointing, however, considering Anderson’s previous China outing.
His last film to screen in China was 2017’s “Resident Evil: The Final Chapter,” which grossed $160 million there — six times more than it did in the U.S., making China the title’s top-selling global market by a margin of more than $123 million.

In today’s Global Bulletin, Spain’s six-month state of emergency threatens already suffering cinemas, All 4 scores a pack of prestigious short films, ViacomCBS International Studios launches a dedicated kids’ content label, and Love Nature lands in the Nordics.
State Of Emergency
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez announced on Sunday that the country is heading back into a nationwide state of emergency for the next six months as new Covid-19 cases continue to skyrocket. The government will take the next two weeks to coordinate with regional governments on exactly what form the state of emergency will take, but an 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew has been imposed nationwide, with regional governments allowed to move the confinement period one hour in either direction.
The new national curfew looks set to dent Spain’s already meagre box office revenues in 2020. “The regulation will destroy the possibility of normal third-session screenings of over two hours,...

Speaking at a virtual panel organized by the NewImages Festival Thursday, leaders from the tech world shared a common message: The future durability of the VR market requires cultivating a user-base still in need of considerable development.
Panelists Deborah Papiernik (Ubisoft), Colum Slevin (Facebook), Ethan Stearns (Mwm Interactive), and Sarah Steele (YouTube VR) all more or less agreed that in order to bridge the gap between the early adopters driving current headset sales and the promised land of a more robust and mature VR market, the industry would have to put new tools into unfamiliar hands.
“Shooting, capturing and post-producing VR is really hard,” said Slevin, Facebook’s director of Ar/VR. “I’ve come to firmly believe that the path to sustainability for professional creators needs to be preceded by scale that is brought by user-generated content.”
Slevin continued: “The only way that there’s an ecosystem out there...

Mimic may not be one of the more widely-discussed titles in the ‘90s movies conversation these days, but the 1997 horror film—an early blockbuster attempt from a certain upstart director named Guillermo del Toro—is about to reenter said conversation on the back of a developing reboot television series.
Miramax Television is bringing the Mimic property back to the forefront with a small screen serial reboot, according to Deadline. The would-be series has been put under the creative auspices of action movie maker Paul W.S. Anderson, who is to direct the pilot and serve as executive producer, joined in the latter capacity by frequent partner Jeremy Bolt. However, the day-to-day duties will be handled by appointed showrunner and writer Jim Danger Gray, who will also serve as an executive producer. There’s no word yet if del Toro will have any involvement.

Deadline reported that Anderson will direct the series’ potential pilot and will executive produce the show with producing partner Jeremy Bolt. Jim Danger Gray (“Orange Is the New Black”) will write the adaptation, executive produce, and serve as showrunner. The Miramax TV project will reportedly be shopped to prospective buyers soon.

Hollywood has always enjoyed making movies set around natural disasters. There’s just something about watching mother nature destroy big cities and iconic landmarks that audiences enjoy.
Well, Vanity Fair gathered together environmental scientists Morgan Page, Michael Angove and Peter Gleick to sit down and watch some of the natural disaster scenes from movies so that they could fact check them and offer some insight.
The movies they discuss in the video include San Andreas, 2012, The Day After Tomorrow, Volcano, Twister, Geostorm, The Core, Interstellar, Sharknado, The Perfect Storm, Pompeii, Noah, The Impossible, The Happening, Into the Storm and even Hard Rain.
It’s interesting listening to what these scientists have to say about the natural disasters in these movies. Some of the movies get it right while others are way off the mark.

Harrington, who plays Jon Snow on the HBO fantasy drama series, was grilled by fellow GoT cast, trying to squeeze out of Harrington how the series ends.

He did say how grateful he was for being to able to play the character which rescued him from what was to be legacy of appearing in films such Silent Hill: Revelation 3-D and Pompeii, “which, somehow, proved more of a disaster than the event it was based on.” But he made clear, he’s ready to move on and, most of all doesn’t really want to talk about the show.

Jon Snow may know nothing, but to us, he's everything. Thirty-two-year-old English actor Kit Harington has portrayed the incredibly sexy Lord Commander of the Watch on Game of Thrones for almost a decade now, and it's difficult to imagine him doing anything other than guarding the Wall and battling White Walkers. But as the premiere of GoT's season eight approaches, we must acknowledge that Jon Snow's watch will soon end. So what exactly is next for Harington?
As heartbroken as we are about losing the Lord Commander, Harington himself is ready to ditch his furs and sword to take on new roles. "I'd like to step away and enjoy the obscurity, cut my hair, make myself less recognizable as the character, and go and do some other things with a completely new look and tone," Harington told Entertainment Weekly. He added, "I can't go into my next role looking the same.

The centerpiece of Pink Floyd’s Meddle album, “Echoes,” is a sprawling 23-minute odyssey of psychedelic imagery, contemplative sound effects and rushing melodies. That 1971 song laid the groundwork for the sound the band went on to explore on Dark Side of the Moon and their subsequent Seventies albums, and it was the secret ingredient that made their Live at Pompeii film so mysterious and enthralling, thanks to the icy pin-prick sound that Rick Wright conjured from his keyboard. It’s such a signature song, it’s hard to imagine anyone else doing it justice,...

Is Jon Snow the reason you tune into Game of Thrones every season? No judgment, the Night's Watchman is a total looker! Or maybe, you're in love with Kit Harington's other roles such as Milo in Pompeii, where he was shirtless and kicking major butt. Perhaps you spent your entire day watching Kit on the miniseries Gunpowder in October. No matter why you love Kit, we know you love him, and you should celebrate your fandom . . . with gifts! While most people have fallen for the British actor as Jon Snow and couldn't help but rejoice when he was not dead - thank goodness - loving Kit is not limited to his acting on the HBO series (although it is what put him on most of our radars, and we are forever grateful). Heading into the holiday season, you should start thinking of gifts to buy. If you're the biggest Kit fan,...

I’m “biast” (con): tired of all the reboots
I have seen the source material (and I don’t much like it)

Oh, this new and pointless Flatliners deserves all the terrible death-related puns we can toss at it: “Someone should have put a do-not-rescusitate on the 1990 movie.” “A fate worse than death.” “Brain dead.” “Send it to the morgue.” C’mon, it’s fun!
