During production, cast and crew dodged a tornado that hit nearby Rice, Texas. The wind gusts proceeding it can clearly be seen near the end of the film during the final scene between Raleigh and Sarah.
Director Scott Honea cast actor Matt Olsen after working with him on "The Oregonian," a film in which Olsen has no lines and spends the majority of his time in a monster suit.
The Billy Joe Shaver song "Day by Day" plays over the closing credits. Scott Honea and Billy Joe Shaver are second cousins, and Shaver gave permission for use of the song over the telephone.
The newspaper office and crisis center scenes were shot at the same location, the offices of The Corsicana Daily Sun where Scott Honea worked as a photographer from 1999-2005.
