Spinning a Yarn
Although the previous episode ('The Tell (2022)') ended on a cliffhanger, the question of Will's lineage does not get resolved in 'Performance Review'. Instead, the plotlines become even more tangled, and a fair amount of suspicion towards Mabel is both engineered and warranted.

In a now-familiar fashion, 'Performance Review' is largely delivered through a minor character: this time, it is Poppy White (Adina Verson), the assistant to the true-crime podcast host Cinda Canning (played by Tina Fey, inspired by Sarah Koenig). Poppy's part is done well enough, given that she is neither at the centre of events - emotionally or narratively - nor does her character's change of allegiance necessarily call for sympathy.

'Performance Review' likely marks the end of Jan's (Amy Ryan) part in the series; if so, it was handled elegantly. The same cannot be said of the investigation as undertaken by the main trio. Here, Mabel, Charles, and Oliver are portrayed as distracted and inept. Luckily for them, the police force are even more so, and our heroes might still be the best-suited party to solve Bunny's murder.

The episode features stunning coats, more Cara Delevingne (that particular plot development has just taken a turn for the unhinged), and enough complexity to double as a law proposal. Let's see if this ball of yarn can be untangled in time for the grand finale.

Episode 206

Warning: Spoilers
Cara's character adds nothing to the show and I hope she is out by the end of the season.

Not a horrible episode, but this felt like we learned nothing new and just wasted time.

Might be the best episode yet

This episode was incredible! So many characters make a return, the acting from everyone was top-notch, and the ending was both shocking and legitimately sad. To me, this episode felt almost next-level for the show, and I can't wait to see where it all leads.

So many things happeden and an amazing final scene.

Warning: Spoilers
This episode was amazing. So many things happened and I did not even expect any single one of them. It was very smart of Mabel to confront poppy to speak up. It looks like poppy's information will help the trio solve this or atleast help mabel with her problems. The glitter bomb was very clever, funny and well executed. We all knew Alice was up to something and that feeling grew even strongee when she was taking pictures of the blood stains, but omg I did not expect that art piece. Those last scenes where amazing. Poppy saying there are a lot of bodies. The killer in the subway, but the most amazing thing was the hug between charles and oliver. When the camera zooms out you hear the music you are not alone. Which implies that someone is spying on them. This season was good but this episode was amazing.

So much thrown at us that we need time to absorb things. Jan has made her way into their world. We realize that Mabel has some serious issues with trust in her world. She is betrayed by her friend who takes advantage. Meanwhile the broadcast is insincere and self centered with Tina Fey continuing to play a real heavy and her helper ready to split, moving toward Mabel. Also, the guys set up a stakeout where they are distracted and miss the possible solution. When this is over, I'm going watch this on my own, minute by minute.

Getting so good.....
moviesfilmsreviewsinc1 September 2022
In typical Only Murders in the Building fashion, episode 6 starts off with a teasing voiceover. The narrator in this instance is another new face: Poppy White. The bespectacled, earnest assistant of Cinda Canning, whose discovery from Mabel Mora's past life takes center stage. She establishes the above theme for this week. This is also the first episode where the trio finds tangible evidence that will absolve them from the murders. But the real question is: can they capitalize? Episode 6 had an even more bizarre ending than the previous episode. Mabel was the focus of attention here. The world around her just crumbled with these events. First, she learns the truth about Alice and loses the one thing she was rowing to care about. It definitely seemed like a turnaround for Mabel's personal life, given how lonely she is. The relationship seemed like a decent change but this betrayal definitely ended Alice's chapter with Mabel. As she is still recuperating from the shock, she is confronted by the killer in broad daylight. Even worse, she seemingly stabs him and runs off, throwing her in the line of real danger. Will she be able to come back to Oliver and Charles without hiding and toe-tipping? Is this the end for the trio in this season? If the events of the ending are true, Mabel will need all the help from Oliver and Charles. They must somehow get the matchbook to Williams and clear their names. On that - are we even sure that they have it? Didn't Mabel take the matchbook when we last saw it? We will get answers in the next episode, hopefully. Episode 6 had decent development for the subplots involving Jan and Charles as well. There were breezy moments and it seems like Jan might be done for too. Amy Ryan's guest appearance might not be over, just yet. But Jan seems to be off from Charles' life. Poppy seems set to be key going forward. Cinda's evil manifestation will get a fitting reply later in the season. Seeing more of Tina Fey was a different but solid sight as well.

Jane Lynch character

I was really hoping they weren't going to bring her back this season. So unnecessary. Doesn't add to the story. More of a distraction with her over-acting. Usually plays every roll the same.

The murder and the proof
AvionPrince1610 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Mabel tell more about her past. Jane and Charles get in trouble and their relationship are not really clear. And Oliver doubt about his son is really his son. And we see Charles at his work. And we have new suspsicions about a worker who hang out with Mabel but she denied it. And they realised that they may be text with the killer. And they try to caught him by put a fake proof. Cinda make things more difficult for Mabel and make false statements about her. Charles reveal that he is still with Jane. And the stunt of Charles give bad news to Jane in a comic way about porn. And Alycia will make Mabel uneasy with her art. And we know more about Cinda and how she lied. And Mabel have maybe find the killer and things will get more complicated for her.

Still interesting episode with again more revelations, surprises. The comedy work really well and the case make him more serious and make us thrill trough the revelations. I enjoyed the shot where Charles talk about Jane and the murderer take the false proof and explode while they are talking: it work very well and the mix of comedy and serious its very well done. And the end make us wondering what will happened next.

Performance Review
Prismark1014 December 2022
An enjoyable episode in what has not always been a consistent series.

Oliver wonders is he has been Greek all along rather than Irish. It is just a way for him to avoid the truth as he waits to take a DNA test.

If Mabel thought she had found happiness with Alice Banks. She was in for a shock as Alice uses Bunny's murder as some kind of arts project.

This is the last thing Mabel needed. Podcaster Cinda Canning is hellbent in portraying Mabel as unstable.

As for Charles, the new series of Brazzo's starts shooting with Charles now wheelchair bound. His body double Sazz is also back.

In fact Sazz comes into use as she is sent to prison to talk to Jan. Charles knows he has to break up with Jan but cannot face doing it himself.

As for the mystery, it seems they have not been talking to Detective Williams, their contact in the police force who was helping them. She has been on maternity leave.

Going past the halfway point, Only Murders in the Building needed to move up a gear. Sometimes getting lost in the myriad of side plots and minor characters.

Not a satisfactory episode
Carpe_diem_28 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Performance Review did move the story along, albeit with glaring errors in the storyline.

Firstly, the name of the episode refers to the experience of Poppy (a recurring character) who may or may not be crucial to the case. Out of the blue, Mabel and Poppy strike a bond, and Poppy is ready to team up with Mabel to bring down Cinda. Let's hope this development adds something substantial to this season.

Alice's stabs Mabel in the back, metaphorically. I think all of us were expecting this to happen, except for Mabel. I didn't peg Mabel to be this naive.

The detective trio reveals the existence of evidence to an unknown person assuming him /her to be detective Williams. Now that's dumb! To add to this silliness, they get involved in an intense discussion when they should be focussing on catching the suspect at drop site of the evidence. What was the point of laying the trap if you can't be alert?

Another goof up was Mabel spotting the suspect in the subway wearing the same jacket on which the glitter bomb had exploded. Isn't disguise 101 a change of clothes if the old ones can put a bullseye on you?

There were some genuine comic moments too such as Charles introducing Oliver to Salsa, and Sazz on behalf of Charles breaking up with Jane. Since I already love the characters in this show, I found the episode to be entertaining. Hence, I am going with an 8/10 for Performance Review.
